For anyone looking for an easier alternative to Amos's melody mentioned after the entire song (root note, fifth note, root note played an octave above, middle note an octave above), here is my solution that's sounding nice with the song:
Just arpeggiate the chord ( play each note in succession ) while adding the root note an octave above. For example, D major is D F# A, so you can make the sequence as D, F#, A, and D again in the higher octave.

I was trying to figure out how the final step worked for like 2 weeks because the left hand was ending on the same note as the right hand and then I realized that I was up an octave with my left like an absolute GOOBER!!!

Best piano teacher I have ever had. All the others tried to teach me fur else to start off instead of doing to basics and just said cord names and didn't give those notes. Plus they never realised I play well by being shown what to do but being to told just copy down the notes on the sheet an play them. You have taught two every bard complex songs in a day. They couldn't teach me twinkle twinkle little star in a month

Thank you for this you broke it down perfectly. I am a professional pianist and singer but normally I play songs. I don't read music as I work in chords but I get asked to play classical pieces for weddings sometimes. This was a perfect tutorial for me. Like I say you broke it down in the best way and best order. And I now can add this fantastic piece of music to my repertoire.

this is a great tutorial! I like it, but i have difficulty in playing with both hands :(( can you help me? or someone?
Hey, I was feeling that way too, I played it with the chords instead of the other thing for ages. Then when I could do that after quite a while without really having to think much I put them together. You may think you can do the parts because of them being on their own but I find that once you can do at least one side without much thought it becomes much easier. But, like me, I still struggled. Just try it every now and again and then carry on doing it with the chords, keep on trying it every now and again while you master it with chords. Also make sure to practice the left handed none chord bit (in the actual piece) on it's own to familiarize yourself. But after you do that for an amount of time (it's different for everyone) then you will start to realise you can kinda/slightly do the first one both hands. Keep that up and eventually you will be able to do the first part, at least a bit. Then practice the whole thing again and again until it sounds kinda OK. That's the hard part, then just keep doing it and you will get it quicker then I wrote this comment! Good luck!
