You should talk about the level select glitch someday. A friend and I were messing around with it in DX a while back in an attempt to get Sonic into Hot Shelter without cheats, and we inadvertently got sent to a messed up version of Hedgehog Hammer that had no stage assets and weird textures, the weirdest of all being a picture of Big on the ceiling with a fisheye lens effect to it. I don't think I've ever laughed that hard at anything before in my life.
I think most people refer to it as the "trial mode glitch" in case you want to research it on your own, but it's super interesting and seems to be mostly undocumented.

I bet for Final Egg Act 4, they were planning on having a bunch of animal capsules at the end similar to how Conker gets a bunch of money at the end of the final level in Conker's Bad Fur Day. That would have been cool if you hit a capsule that freed all the other capsules that Robotnick keeps his animals in.
very unlikely, since jumping on a single capsule already finishes the level either way, and if they wanted to do that they wouldn't just spam a lot of capsules, it would be easier to just make a bigger one with more animals in it, which isn't necessary at all. so yeah, you're probably wrong, and the reason it shows capsules instead of Rings is because the IDs are wrong since they never bothered to update them because well... it's just a test level.
I just noticed when Sonic was running down at speed highway, his Shoes and Eyes were like his classic counterpart. Actually Sonic Adventure was Originally developed for the Sega Saturn. Sonic's Dreamcast Model is the Saturn Model, just edited Spines and Textures. The Spine edit made Sonic's arm clip through the Spines, A SADX modder named ClassicSonicSatAm did a mod to change the model of sonic to have Shorter Spines and Classic Textures. If you have a PC with SADX, and your annoyed by sonic's arms clipping, that's the mod for ya
I would assume that the spring in Emerald Coast may have been left there for testing purposes. So that the developers would not immediately fall into the kill plane under the water upon spawning into the level

Im 3 years late but I loooooove your vids man. I played the hell out of SA2:B when I was little. I did a few playthroughs of SA1 but definitely preferred SA2 but both were great games. Its really interesting to see all of the behind the scenes stuff. I lol’d at the eggman cutscene where he was doing the weird inverted head and slithery arm thing.
Some of these objects out of bounds can be assumed that it was some random spot during development where they placed an object where the player would normally never see, so they can copy it easily to save time placing objects while doing game development level creations.
Awesome video, but aww, I was hoping you'd mention the weird light effect that you could see in Sonic's Ice Cap (in the cave right before the avalanche, if you go up to the top where the jump pads are and look at the very top of the Icicle you're supposed to bring down, you'll find a weird light texture inside it with no evident use. I'm sure it's there for the same reason the second clock on one of Station Square's buildings is, but it's a tad bit sad that it's not even mentioned nor shown in this video.

Many singular items would be placed out of bounds as something of a reference item, often in highly convenient, easily accessible areas from the rest of the stage. If the dev's stage building tools had a copy paste function, they'd use it as a copy dummy. Sometimes devs leave those dummies in cause theyre either too lazy or forget.
Great video there's alot of stuff I didn't notice was leftover in the game, and here's a little question: when you make these videos do you use an actual Dreamcast or GameCube or any console? Or do you use an emulator to play the games.

hedgehog hammer can actually be accessed as tails in sadx by using the tails in emerald coast glitch at the start of the game but instead of going to emerald coast you go to casinopolis and if you beat that if you select trial in the main menu and then select tails you will be taken to hedgehog hammer
I had a glitch where could go in Trial mode as Tails into a Stage called "Hedghog Hammer" I know that its in TCRF but I want to know more about it so could you make a video about it? ( I know that the Hedghog Hammer is the map where you get that upgrade as Amy but without any of the objects)
My guess for Tails Emerald Coast 2 would have been that he would have ejected himself from the Tornado before crashing, and his level would have him get to the destroyed Tornado.
Or they never intended to let him play it, and they just copied Sonic's level data over to save time, because they knew that was valid and would definitely let him live long enough to start the cutscene.
Great video! Also, in SADX (not sure if it exists in SADC) there are a few hidden platforms below the silver Chao egg lake in Mystic Ruins. You can reach that spot as Tails or Knuckles (probably as Gamma too). Do you know what those platforms were supposed to be?
Behind the begining in windy valley act 1, there are some textures that are shaped like a loop, i dont know if sonic has these, but gamma does Edit: they might only be in the dreamcast convertion/original

You know all this unused contained in SA1 really annoys me I mean I already love the game but just imagine how much better if could have been. Things like the Tails object layout for Sky Deck for example let me guess that it may was actually be planed to race throw all 3 acts of the level which if applied to all stages would have greatly benefited Tails playstyle.

Speaking from experience, it must be very time consuming to put that many titles in the video. Maybe in the future, you should consider doing a voiceover to explain your findings instead.
If voiceover isn't in the cards, it still might be useful to read the titles aloud while editing. That might help keep the titles up long enough for viewers to read.

DX didn't port Hedgehog Hammer properly so it has a bunch of texture errors
