Your videos are always interesting! Old Moeck Rottenburgh recorders always have a very wide channel. I like to buy used recorders that often work badly, for little money and try to improve them. Well some time ago I came across an old Moeck Rottenburgh contralto from the 70s or 80s made of grenadilla wood (a sort of darker rosewood) which had a very wide channel, it required a lot of air as it had little back pressure. The only thing to do was to narrow the air channel, to do this there are 2 ways: redo the wall of the channel by adding wood and then completely redo the "voicing", or raise the block, I chose the second way and I completely redid it the block a little higher than the original one, trying to direct the air as best as possible towards the labium. The operation was quite long and laborious but the result rewarded the effort.

The olive definitely seemed to carry the higher notes more smoothly. Might consider one now.... 🤔 Thank you so much for playing a variety of pieces!

    You’re back❣️🥰
    You’ve been gone for a while…..
    I hope you’re doing well 🤗‼️
    You’re looking good 👍
I’m curious, do you prefer a larger, wider opening at the block? Does your preference change from day to day or from different musical pieces? Do you have a personal favorite recorder that you tend to play more? (I play,(not very well) the harmonica, and my favorite one change’s from week to week and key to key depending on the song….🤔😬)
    I’m glad that you’re making videos again‼️
I look forward to seeing them everyday (when you have time 😏)
I’ll keep watching for your next video, and have a wonderful Easter ❤

I like all the recorders that I have decided to keep, whatever size the windway, anything I don't really like I sell on again, or return to the shop if it was on approval. I find that different recorders sound right on different pieces and I love playing the same piece on different recorders to hear the differences, I find it very calming to do this, perhaps because you have to be quiet and still to listen carefully.

@@arwenacoustic795 How many recorders do you own⁉️
(I can’t criticize, I have WAY TOO MANY guitars and harmonicas to count….😬)

Interesting differences! The windway exit dimensions (the side towards the labium) however are much more critical than the entrance dimensions, which don't really have that much impact on the tone. It would be interesting to see how the exit dimensions and positioning have evolved over the years, but those dimensions are a little trickier to measure.
