I am truly hoping that there will be a firmware update that enables its buttons and dials to be independently mapped without it having to mimic the exact buttons on the camera. For us that want it for video, the one glaring omission is that, at the moment, none of the dials can be used to control the excellent 2X electronic video zoom (which we got in the v3 firmware update). This function is just not practical or smooth using buttons but works wonderfully with the Z lens control dials, and would be even more ideal using dials on the MC-N10! Otherwise I love it! 👍🏾🙏🏾
Agree, being able to control the new zoom function would be a huge plus for those that use it. Aside from that though, one can create a new shooting bank and re-assign the controls according to their needs there. I actually plan to do that once I've decided the best configuration for my use.
Very interesting Dave >> I dont think I would need this accessory though as I am 100% Stills at this stage but for video work this is the business for sure
I will follow up after some time, because I have a hunch that I might use it at least as often for still work as I will for video, but in most cases I think you're right.
Nice accessory. Two things: (1) imagine someone mirrored the CAD file that the factory uses to make this so it would have been a left-handed version - how many left handed people would want that - and, next, imagine you could connect both a left and a right handed version at the same time and do different things with the left hand than with the right hand. Concurrently. (2) When announced, it was said to enable or facilitate "zoom" - this was read by some influencers as if this accessory unlocked a zoom motor that had been hidden in all those beautiful "S" class lenses, which could never have been the case. Anyhow, here, other comments suggest that zooming (digitally) is not possible yet? Seems to me that it relies on changing the sensor crop between 1:1 video resolution and full frame. So what's going on here?
Have to disagree on the wireless thought. Wireless is very reliable now days, latency is not an issue, esports players mostly using wireless gaming mice, and the tested latency is on par or even faster than wired, and its extreamly reliable. Interference only become an issue at longer range. Major camera companies like Nikon, Sony and Canon just suck at wireless tech for some reason, such as garbage mobile apps, and slow wifi transfer speed(although Z9 has very fast wifi)
Well, actually the MC-N10 is a good start, but definitely missing key features such as focusing, focus pulling with A-B points, reviewing and deleting video clips as we shoot along. I simply cannot use this for video for these reasons . Otherwise this would have been a must-have accessory for video .... shame, really
Yup, it's a tool, a $429 tool 😬😬😬 Wish Nikon priced it lower, I found out about this because it came up on one of the features on my zfc firmware update, I guess if I own the very minimum a z6ii or higher this will be a good investment but it's always good that Nikon is giving us some awesome tools (somewhat very pricey) 😂😂
Precisely! I find it to be enough value in my work to justify the expense, but not everyone can (or should). It's just great that we have the option - because it exists!
It can be, but it is not as versatile if you do more than product photography. There can also be interference and other app/software related issues you just don't get with a wired device. It really comes down to overall use case and preferences, I think.
I briefly considered commenting on this point - but here's the thing: name one camera that is configured primarily for left hand use. Exactly. I'm quite sure that left-handed photographers do fine with their cameras, and this is no different.
@@KnightsandWeekends this is the first remote that I’ve seen off camera, just a thought. I do have a vertical attachment that attaches to the bottom of my camera , I have no problems using it left handed.
I almost agreed about it being only right-handed cause it looked awkward mounted on my tripod handle being on the left side. Then I noted that the handle can be re-positioned to the right side, then voila! Problem fixed😄

Dave,
I truly enjoy your presentations. Thank you so much.
Thank you! I hope to make more content in the near future, but I simply have no available time at the moment. I appreciate the encouragement!
I do landscape and long exposures, and this will be great, just got mine in the mail yesterday
Hello, how does the remote control going? Which camera if I may ask. Thank you.
It still works great , z7ll
@@ChurchOfChristguyRob nice!
Excellent review
Thanks much. I try to give the information I would want as a viewer, always good to hear that I was able to do that!

Amazing things happening with digital photography. My Canon F1 used to be the bee's knees. Oops showing my age.
Still had my Canon AE-1 and leica M3 but were stolen.
Don't make me bring out the Nikon F3 and FM2.... see you around the hallways in the geriatric ward!

It was indeed the bee’s knees especially the F1 AEn which was my first professional camera when I started my career! Age is nothing but a number! 😂
