Why is a 9 year old acting like a 2 year old? She should have known better than to act like that. That's ridiculous and unacceptable. It's a good thing Jo came to the rescue.

You can tell Maddie knows her behaviour is wrong though. Look at her when Jo is talking to her and telling her off, it’s in her body language. All she needed was boundaries and for things to be followed through with.

marc labrie there have been multiple parents who spark their children on the show. It doesn’t work. It doesn’t matter how badly behaved your child is. Never physically hurt them. With Madison, do you know what that would have done? Made an already violent child more violent, because it must be okay for her to hit because her parents hit her, right?

Starting at 5-7 years of age children are able to handle disappointment and completely regulate themselves free of outburst. From age 3-4 kids may cry but they can overcome this independently. Maddie is tremendously behind
These sorts of tantrums are what I see in a 2 year old. By the time the kids I take care of are 3 years of age, they have been instructed by myself and learned how to ask for what they want without whining or tantrums - I expect to see this also in children who have autism or ADHD most often. Or in Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

I understand that no parent is perfect but this woman babied her daughter and eventually she paid the price for it in the end. Maddie shouted at her, scratched her and hit her knowing it was wrong. Harry was well behaved though. Most cases in the super Nanny episodes, the children are not the problem. It is the parents who are the problem, either being lazy by letting other people raise their children or whatever.

Jo set the stage from the beginning and she had no choice but to obey. Her parents have babied her too much so she doesnt respect them when they try to swith up and be authoritative. Its sad.
