Hi... Cool video.. What metering rod and what measurement are you running the metering rod on the lectron carb. What is the approx altitude and ambient temperatures that you ride. Any advice would be very much appreciated thank you
I'm a big fan of yamaha. Their motors have always been extremely reliable. The lectron by itself really wakes up a lot of bikes throughout the powerband and i'm really surprised at how well that entire kit wakes up that 125. The lectron, paired with v-force 3 reeds, turbine core 2 and a gnarly pipe brings all of the torque out of my 98 cr250.
Yep, my dad has a 14' beta rr 300. he bought it new and now it has 1300 Hours on the odometer, only engine repairs ever were: -a new clutch and piston every 400 hours - it has the 2nd spark plug in it so about 1000h on one spark plug thats it, no new bearings or cylinder. This beast of an engine will certainly outlive the frame since we do a lot of hardenduro riding and you can only weld the frame a couple times before bad stuff happens lol
My nephew just smoked my rm125. 97. No clue how many hours but man i have a ton of play on the rod so now i gotta get that done. Cant find a new crank anywhere so probable gonna have the local shop press new bearings. Quoted me 500 i didnt think that was bad at all.

I built a full on Moto track...it’s sick. I’ll try to get a winter riding video on it once the ground freezes enough to warrant studs
My name is Brad also. From the grand rapids area. You ever ride with any viewers? Would love to go out and rip it up with ya and maybe learn a thing or two!
Nobody says that lol. My 2 stroke is older then my 4 stroke and I ride both equally and maintained both equally and the 4 stroke causes the most amount of issues out of any other 2 stroke ive ever seen. My 2 stroke also has had less work done to it, like having to clean the carb and all that. So I must say 4 strokes are much more of a hassle then 2 strokes. And 2 strokes are easier to maintenence then a 4 stroke considering how much lighter and easier things travel on the 2 strokes
My 14 500exc has got 1446hrs on it, all singles mainly, ridden hard but never seen the rev limiter doesn't need to, done top end twice (just piston and rings) piston looked like new both times and rings still in spec, valves have never needed adjusting so you guys that say 2 strokes need less maintenance are kidding and I own a husky 300i,it will need 2 full rebuilds to get that many hours up.

Why do new engines wear out so fast? I have an 86 KDX 200 my uncle handed down to me and other than aftermarket reeds it runs perfect and starts 1 or 2 kick.
I'm debating if I want to tackle the top end on my YZ250X myself or not when it comes time to rebuild. I'm mechanically inclined, but I don't want to mess something up on my $10k bike... But that's also why I went 2 stroke, so I could do the maintenance myself. I'm just not sure how much money I'd save doing it myself vs having someone do it for me.
Do it yourself, it's painfully simple just pull up your service manual and take it slow you can't really mess it up. Then don't go wide open right after you put a fresh top end for a good few heat cycles you should be good.
40 years of rebuilding 2 strokes.. I'd say the hardest part for a beginner is properly taking apart the power valve and putting it back together right. The arrow on the piston always points towards the exhaust direction. 3/8 drive torque wrench is the only expensive tool you absolutely need. Biggest tip.... extremely clean bike is a must... if any sand drops inside the engine... thats really bad. So wash it really really clean.
@@endurotruckererniedesjardins Thanks for the advice! Do you know if there is a way to get the power valve cover off without removing the cylinder? Hey brad, Ive got a 2010 Yz250 its completly stock other than a heavy flywheel, Do you think the freight train bundle will be great for it for enduro? Or should i just get cetain bits of the package?
