This is the Shannon Brook Road level crossing at Shannon Brook NSW. It is located just south of Casino, on the ARTC North Coast line between Sydney and Brisbane.
These signals were installed on September 20, 1966. The western signal has an unmarked base and McKenzie & Holland lights fitted with Alstom LED’s. The eastern signal is newer and was probably a knockdown replacement at some time, it has an unmarked base and Westinghouse lights fitted with Alstom LED’s.
The eastern signal also had a rather weak sounding Federal Signal mechanical bell which has since been replaced by a Western Cullen Hayes electronic bell.
Train information:
1st train: NT32 XPT service from Brisbane to Sydney, filmed on September 6, 2023.
2nd train: NT32 XPT service from Brisbane to Sydney, filmed on September 7, 2023.
Great capture Michael. Man Casino is a lovely place in the NSW North Coast. Hope you had a good sleepover at a Hotel up that way having to travel all that long distance only couple of hours away from Queensland. Sad to hear about the Old Mechanical bell been replaced. Glad it was a WC hayes E-bell and not that Siemens E-Bell.
Thanks Josh!
Nice video! At least they replaced the bell with a WCH e-bell rather than a Siemens bell!
Thanks, yes I’m glad the replacement wasn’t a Siemens bell, don’t actually see that many older setups like this with WCH e-bells.
Great video and crossing! Love that classic FS bell, shame it's gone now. An FS bell here in Alabama was replaced not too long ago due to a signal upgrade as well.
Thanks! FS bells certainly are becoming rare now.
Cool video. Those dogs must not be used to strangers lol
Thanks!
Shame the bell is gone. There are very, very few FS bells with the modern FS logo.
Pretty much all FS-branded 0333 bells have the modern FS logo, lol.
Fs bells are now so rare 😢
It’s a bit of the shame the bell had to be replaced. At least you got to film it before they did replace it.
The moment I first heard the bell, I knew it was on borrowed time, just got lucky with my timing before it was replaced!
@@McKHAust Yeah, you sure did get lucky. Did you get any other crossings in the area?
I’m just amazed that street view was updated so quickly, didn’t have to wait the usual 10 years lol. I did film the next crossing south of here which has a mechanical bell, also one south of Kyogle which also has an m-bell but it’s not on street view. It’s actually the most northerly mechanical bell which is still in service in NSW. Baraimal Lane.
@@McKHAust Interesting. I did notice GSV images are finally starting to be updated in some areas at last. Shame the Murwillumbah line is no longer used. It looked to have had some nice crossings on it.
The Murwillumbah line sure had some nice crossings but sadly many have had their signals removed now
Nice
Thanks!
Can you film more trains in SA?
I’m taking a break from filming so won’t be filming anywhere for a while, still got plenty of footage left to upload
@@McKHAust When do you start filming again?
