Richard Jenkins nailed that part. It was the best part in the movie. Just watch him with the emotions and feeling. It gives me chill's to watch it over and over. His lines are just classic. We need more good roles for him.
Every memory my mother recalls of my father is bitter. My brother's bittersweet. The memories I had with him as a child were sweet so in order not to sour them I avoid seeing him. I know if I do, I'll only be disappointed. He brought up money last time, briefly, simply skimmed over it. But I knew. I knew. So I don't see him. That way he'll always be the father I remembered.
I missed it all... said every parent that ever wished they never had a codependency on alcohol or drugs... life never gives you a rule book on how to live. All parents just to the best they can. Some learn & become stronger, some parents never learn... & fall deeper into their own self demise. I pray the strong parents find their way back to a happy sober life 💗
This is only the third movie I've seen with Richard Jenkins. I'm gonna try to remember to track down every other movie he's ever done. Because this cemented the belief I've held since Shape of Water; that he is a TERRIFIC actor.
This scene redeemed the whole damn movie for me. I didn't much care for the movie overall (no offense intended to those who love it) but this scene is incredible.
This is why Richard Jenkins is one of the most underrated actors in hollywood. He is a master of his craft.
THAT WAS ONE TAKE. The camera doesn’t cut until the VERY end. That wasn’t spliced together in an editing room. Richard Jenkins is a MASTER.

Agree totally with everything you said!
One of the most genuine portrayals of any character i have ever had the pleasure of watching. Utterly superb acting.
The intensity and rawness of this scene makes it hard to watch. A truly stunning performance from Richard Jenkins.
We need more of Richard Jenkins and Julia Roberts because these two are just excellent together.
He is ridiculously good in this. Such a great and terribly underrated actor.
He is incredible in this scene and so is Julia.. when she puts her hand to her mouth it’s the reaction the viewers had too.
Powerful scene. Incredible actor.
Has helped me get over a bad relationship….thanks Elizabeth, Julia and Richard

Best scene in the whole film, Richard Jenkins completely owns it.
Right! It’s the scene I always come back to. I’m amazed by this interpretation! Although Javier Bardem is very easy on the eye!!!
totally admire this actor!!!
It's pretty telling that the best and most emotionally honest scene in the movie doesn't even cut to Julia Roberts. Jenkins is the man.
+Serena Bramble LOL. Roberts is decent enough, but yes, Richard Jenkins is in another league.
I thought it was even more effective especially when she put her hands up to her mouth when he talks about his son playing in the lawn
Jenkins is an outstanding actor. He deserved the Oscar in 2008 for The Visitor.
Thank you for putting together this playlist. Some amazing stuff here.

Just finished watching the movie and immediately looked for this scene
I love this movie 🥰

Its the best actor scene from this movie
It's great to know Dale did not get Killed. He went on to play drums and mooch off his dad as payback for all his years of Drinking.
Superb❤
Now there’s an actor!
"Okay."
Is it only me who think there is similarity betweem this scene and breaking bad rehab guys confession?
One take.
