This podcast is 100% the truth. I love that you guys are speaking on this topic. Being obese and loving yourself on the verge of having a heart attack in America is becoming a trend.

Body positivity started out as something very important as in for people with disabilities or in general people who are overall excluded from the beauty norm in the western world.
And it may seem as if the new wave of the body positivity movement is only about loving your fat body which is often mistaken as a different movement (fat acceptance)
More things I really think would add nuance to this debate is to factor in the health aspect that every level of extremism is unhealthy for the body as in extreme form of bodybuilding, being underweight and being heavily overweight and so on, are alle things that are severely bad for your health just in different aspects and in different ways. Most of these are often connected to some forms of mental health struggles and I don’t know how commenting or shaming can help everyone to better one’s self. There are some people who can do well with this sort of criticism, like you said in the episode that you guys bettered yourself after being commented on but statistically obese people are to ashamed to join a gym or start a weight loss journey openly after being shamed before. This often comes with eating your feelings as well and so on. Also I think it’s good to always love yourself. I only lost weight and started eating healthier out of love for myself. If I hated myself what good would I want for myself, if that makes any sense. In my opinion you can’t just hate yourself to a better lifestyle and also if I’d always hated my body and only love it at exactly “my dream” weight or body, I’d be terribly miserable.
