As a LIVE rock band I would rate them #2 behind THE WHO and in front of #3 Van Halen with DLR 78-81. I saw over 200 concerts between 1971 and 1994 and nearly every GOOD to great rock band....most on their first or second tours and in their PRIME.

This makes me feel very old. I remember the first time I heard this, at the tender age of 17, at a party thrown by Kitty the nurse who worked in the on site medical room at Chessington Zoo.
Her son put the LP on and from the first few bars of Highway Star I was hooked.
Got a copy of Machine Head by swapping my copy of the first Hawkwind album which was pretty patchy to say the least.
Never saw Purple MK 2 but did catch MK3 at Lewisham Odeon.
A great night. Elf with Ronnie James Dio on vocals were the support band. My ears rang for three days afterwards....and I still have the ticket stubs

Box arrived today I am very disappointed
about the 2024 dolby atmos remix. Out of balance playing around with a joystick like a kid playing with x box.
