Asch beats an entire group of replica knights, starting the fight unarmed. Then he kills most of them, gets impailed by 3 swords, kills the 3 who stab him, and still kills the last one before dieing. Fuck Van, Asch is the man.
for me sync was my favorite god general i never hated what he was standing for imagine what kind of terrible life he must have endure by not only be born a replica but to be told he is a failed one just a piece of meat like he said no wonder he would grow to wanting to destroy a world that doesnt want him there or accept him

Oh wow, now I get it. Van knew they were going to fall in the trap, so that they would have to fight to see who gets out. He ordered Oracle knights to enter the room and try to kill the one who lost. (They got lucky) Van the evil bastard. ;_;
Well...i played the extra of this game...in Jade's research...one of them was bound to die for both of them to be fused since their fonons(forgot how that is called) as replicas and originals became unstable so it has to be diminished and be one once again...in the later film you saw what happened when "Replica" used the Key of Lorelei...aint gonna say more from this.
I liked both Asch and Sync, so I hated both scenes where they died... though their deaths were slightly shadowed by the fact that I was playing with my friend, who had no clue what had happened in the game up till this point. -_- Oh well. Still sad.
i can never hate sync im not saying what he did was right none of it was but still i can never hate sync i feel so bad about how horrible his life is which is why hes one of my fav villains
Sync...why you...you could have listened to Anise and others, like in the anime,she showed most care to you. She even tried to hug you! She definitely has feelings towards you. Why didn't you listen to her for once?
@Blitzmage Yea Mage is right tbh the people who made Tales of the Abyss did a great job with there pasts every single one of them had a sad past behind them which makes u feal srry for them and understand why they think the way they do.

I loved this game so much back when it came out, but when I watch it years later, everything besides the soundtrack and story itself has aged so poorly. The voice script localization, the absolute chaos of the dialogue crammed into combat during the boss fights, the sloppy balance of the sound mix, and let's not forget the voice acting itself. Almost all of these actors have gone on to do incredible things in the fifteen years since (Yuri Lowenthal being an absolute powerhouse of a Spider-Man voice actor), but there were a lot of growing pains that the industry was still going through at the time. I've never gone back to play the game for myself because I'm quite confident that my fond nostalgia would be shattered.
in exception to luke's weapon, the others are fonic weapons (fonic mace, fonic rod, fonic bow) those weapons are scattered in chests all over Eldrant. Luke has Ultimateus (havent played for a year so i'm not sure if spelling is right) I explained how to get that sword in another comment (fight between asch and Luke)
I find it Ironic how nobody seem to mention Ion, I mean yeah, Sure, Sync Died and girls are falling over him even those there wasn't an ounce of him in the game much at all... I cried when Ion died, and when I thought Luke was going to die in the Temple of Rem, and when I beat the game, But of course I have my own opinion on the game and emotions towards it, so I aint got much of a right to say things Just cause I don't think its sad >.>

I don't know if they made that last strand of hair on Asch fall to signify his death or make him look more like Luke, but it's just so sad to me...

I love the fact Sync is the last but one boss in this game. He was really worth the position.
When Asch yells while he kills that last guy, he sounds exactly like Roger from Jean D'Arc (another one of Yuri Lowenthal's characters).
