@chrismcateer1276 Shut your mouth! Just kidding. That’s crazy. Well, I’m glad you found the channel, neighbor. Good luck on your build! Thank you for your comment.👍🙏
OMgosh, thank GOD you didn’t get hurt and the truck was repairable!! The house is really taking shape and I know it’ll be amazing. The roofers did an excellent job and so have you!! Praying you two have a wonderful and blessed Christmas! 🥰🎄☃️🙏
@toddnelson7651 Ohhhh snap! You’re about to build that A-Frame! Congratulations, buddy👍 It has been an amazing experience so far. I’m sure it’s going to be great for you too. I have some great videos on the way so stay tuned. 👍🙏
Ok, there was NO WAY I wasn't going to come back to this video once this day finally came... UPDATE TIME! You had a magnificent 7 and I loved every bit of seeing your magnificent 7. We thought we could run the roof ourselves... We got the sheets on the roof and then we realized something... We decided it's best that we don't finish the roof ourselves. We threw up the decking, started with underlayment and realized really quick how long this was going to take us. Sooooo, we hired a marvelous 5 haha. Some of the quotes for roofs were INSANE. Especially since most of the material was here anyway. Nevertheless, the roofers are working right now. It feels amazing watching them work right now. We have completely framed the back wall and sheathed about 85% of it. About 30% tyvek. The front wall is 50% framed. Hoping to wrap it up soon so it's completely dried in! God bless brother!
Man!!! That’s incredible. You guys are killing it. Getting to let someone else do something is an amazing accomplishment for sure. Sounds like you’re getting close to halfway there, bro. Keep going! God bless!🙏🙏👍
This video make me feel like some how I'm there too. Or how can I say, it's feels like I took some parts of these video and now I'm watching myself. It's a really weird feeling. I think we have very similar personalities.
@xxlalbatross3287 Wow! What an incredible compliment. I very much appreciate those kind words, my friend 🙏👍. I’ll do my best to keep these videos coming for you!
Hi Daryl, just discovered you today. Your channel is great! I don’t know if you will remember, but you were going over the roof costs when the cardinals distracted you. Was the black metal roof $50k? What was the composite cost? Thanks. I plan to watch a bunch more videos. Keep up the good work!
Hey Ryan! I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying the videos. Just to clarify, the metal roof was going to cost $50k. Yeah, I get pretty distracted with cardinal. Haha.🙏👍
Hello, excellent work. It has helped me a lot. One question, what is the force that prevents the triangle from falling forward or backward, if it has no diagonals? Thank you so much Saludos desde Chile!
Did you consider some dormer windows for the loft? More light is always better! Was it going to add too much cost to the structure, or extra maintenance ?
Looks great, man =) glad you (and your truck!) are alright, and good call with roofers. A frame roofing is a special kind of dangerous, and if there's any one thing it's worth bringing in pros for, that's it.
Tahlmark! I would have put up the rafters like 5 times faster. Period. But I didn’t want to stand 20+ feet in the air on a rickety ladder to do it at the time. 🤷♂️ But you live and you learn. 🙏👍
Thanks, Dwight! Go back and watch my Lifting The A’s without a crane video. You’ll see, because of the terrain it was difficult to lift up the last few A’s because they’re laminated together. If I’d went with a ridge beam that problem goes away. All of the A’s would have gone up easier (in my case). And, I wouldn’t have needed the roofers help to lift the last two A’s. 🙏👍
Hi Kyo! I hear you. For me, the trouble was getting the pulley down after lifting every rafter without having to rent some type of ladder or lift to physically pull down the pulley every time. That was the point of pushing up the rafters by hand. But you can do it too. You just gotta boss up, broski! 👍🙏
@@darryldarks I only have one A frame to my name so far, smaller to be fair. Pulley was leveraged 2:1 small and hanged from two hooks so it would hold itself on top of the triangle by itself, used a pole to mount/unmount. First few rafters went up just like you did here by pushing them up but then running out of space that became a problem. Ended up making an a-frame-ish (wider at the bottom) ladder anyway for the roofing which would've helped earlier. Live and learn hahah
Awesome video! I’ve been following since the beginning. What size are the rafters? Did you butt them up end to end then add plywood to hold them together? Bless you brother
J Watson! Yeah, so, rafters are 27 feet long. The roof is an 18 pitch. One board is the rafter cut and the other is the seat cut/birds mouth cut. They’re butted together. Subfloor adhesive, 23/32 plywood, and 2 1/2 nails are holding them together. You got it!👍🙏👍
@@darryldarks I thought you maybe meant for aesthetics on the interior... How is it a timesaver on build? Do you mean to hold the A frames in place? I see they were struggling with keeping them plumb while installing OSB, so you think the ridge board would have avoided much of that? And what would you use, like a 2x10? (I appreciate you, and your help!) I am buying land in May in Florida, and then will start building a few months later:)
I’m sure this has been addressed in a video already- but what’s the cost of building everything diy/hiring like that?? I’m interested in doing an a frame as well so that’s why I ask lol
That’s a great question. I’ll make a cost breakdown video one day but the short answer is $350-$400k to hire a contractor vs $75k-$125k to diy. Something like that.

I’m glad you liked it! I’m not sure about the technical term for that. But if you brace your studs and then add sheathing that locks everything in.
Nice! I trying build something just like that in Brazil! The roof is amazing!
You can do it! 🙏👍
Gracias por el video muy originales avrazos de cali colombia
Gracias y que Dios te bendiga, mi amigo! 🙏👍
Very cool
Did you consider some dormer windows for the loft? More light is always better! Was it going to add too much cost to the structure, or extra maintenance ?
Hey Tackyman! Yes, I have considered adding dormers but decided against it to keep a consistent roof line. It was just a decision of preference. 🙏👍
Looks great, man =) glad you (and your truck!) are alright, and good call with roofers. A frame roofing is a special kind of dangerous, and if there's any one thing it's worth bringing in pros for, that's it.
Thanks, man. So, true! 👍
Why, in retrospect, would you have preferred to include a ridge beam? What dis/advantages do see see from either method? Great work 👏

you can stick a pulley to the top of your A to lift the next rafter. Just in case someone else will be insane enough to try and lift it by hand

Why a ridge beam? What is the advantage of that?
It’s just a enormous time saver but the installer needs to be okay with heights.

Nice! Did you know you were going to have to hire for this part from the beginning or did you entertain the idea of doing it yourself ?
Oh, I thought about it but once my knees started shaking, I had to call in reinforcements. Lol. 🤪

Get a skylight with taller surround. Trust me. Also get a Ford or even better a Toyota.

did the deer hit you or did you hit the deer,
@johngriffin824 The deer sideswiped me. Scout’s honor. ✋

Coming soon my man. 🙏👍
What are the dimension?.
@shevuansereday Awesome question! The A-Frame is sitting at 30 wide, 40 long, and 27 feet tall. 👍
You probably could of made that skylight work. Your talking a quarter inch on each side to shave off. Whether the wood or the metal 🤔.
Oh, I have a plans for the skylight, friend. 😀 It’ll going to be really nice! 🙏👍
Must be nice.
It is! 🙏👍
