THESE MEMORIES ! ! ! about 25 yrs. ago I was in vacation in Spain. Drove there with my car from Frankfurt Germany over France to Spain. At night ! Approx 7 hrs. All the time through I've heard that song coming from tape. Crossing the Spain border I stopped in the first town, La Jonquera. Went into a 'coffee shop' and had a Carajillo (kinda Espresso with Liquor on the rocks) - had been 6.30 or 7 a.m. 🙂 Baron, PEP cars V8 U.S. car club, Frankfurt Germany
You guys keep killing it with the selection of music and songs! Heroes is crucial for any Latin or Hispanic rock lover. Bunbury’s voice is iconic. If I may, please react to Maldito Duende
No hay rock latino ni hispano. La forma de entender la música es algo universal. Si le pones la letra en inglés dirías rock hispano ??? Obviamente no.Te gusta o no
Best rock band in Spanish. The distortion on the second half of the guitar solo is epic, keep in mind that was 1990, before nevermind, before distortion and noise rock influences become cool, when hair metal still ruled the world... imagine listening to this. Tey were ahead of its time for sure.
_"[..] the guitar solo is epic, keep in mind that was 1990, before nevermind, before distortion and noise rock influences become cool"_ Three things. In 1968 The Velvet Underground released a song called "White Light White Heat" that further concentrated their noise-rock formula. Noise/distortion were a staple of The Jesus & Mary Chain sound, but by 1987 they had already discarded it. Mind you, by 1988 The Pixies had already perfected the noise-rock, slow-fast formula that became synonymous with grunge. Nirvana is not the point of reference you want to use here. Makes little sense. And no, this is not noise rock, it's AOR, much closer to the hair metal you mentioned than 90s Seattle. Second thing. What makes Valdivia's sound recognizable, and this is because he was remarkably consistent in its use throughout HdS' career, is his mix of arpeggiated play mixed with chorus and delay pedals. I know Gustavo Cerati had been using this combination by 1988, and maybe as early as _Signos_ (1986). Of course, The Edge famously used delays with arpeggiated picking in _Boy_ (1980). I would say that Valdivia's sound is as distinctive as Robin Guthrie's (Cocteau Twins) or even David Gavurin's (The Sundays), and endured even as the music of Héroes became more and more arena rock oriented. Having a distinctive sound is a very hard thing to come by. Really talented guy. Valdivia's talent and Bunbury's distinctive voice was not enough to make their band the best in Spanish language rock. No such a thing exists. But if comparisons were to be made, there are plenty of other bands who played much more interesting music (like Caifanes), were more groundbreaking (like Café Tacvba) or simply were more important for the development of the genre (like Soda Stereo). Saludos.
I love both versions of the song. The original singer has such a beautiful clear voice. This song was played like non-stop here Slovenia in rock/clubs clubs in the 90s :D
I still have their albums in my collection. Check out their song Avalancha. Amazing band and this song was pretty big in the 90s, not only in Spain. Pozdrawiam.
*Keep in mind, it was released in May 1990, via their album. From Autumn 1990 on, after its release as a Promotional single for radio stations to play, it got more and more popular, because the radio stations played the song often, maybe also because there was a version, which was edited down from 6 minutes 12 seconds to 4 minutes 02 seconds.* 🎵🎸🥁💿
Good reaction from Spanish rock, I recommend "la canción más triste" of Robe , live from the Roman theatre in Merida, something different from Spanish rock , but I'm sure you'll enjoy it, a greeting from Mallorca.
Hola, me ha encantado que hayais reaccionado a este GRAN GRUPO... Podeis reaccionar a "MALDITO DUENDE" ???? Es un video mas "tranquilo" jajajaja.... Gracias!!!
I had so many years without listen to this song and I felt with your reaction that this was like the first time, thank you and greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Big fan of Heroes here. They have so many great songs that I find it hard to recommend a specific one. Maldito Duende is a good one, Enrique wrote it when he was 14. La Chispa Adecuada is also a good one from their later phase. For me they'll always be associated with going to Spain every summer during the holidays back in the 90s.
Hello you guys! I'm not new to your channel, I just don't comment much but I have to congratulate you on your reaction choice this time, I love the memories it brings back when this band was in concert in my country, Guatemala, back in 1996, even though I incline myself a little on the heavier side of music, I can not deny that this was just fantastic and to me their best album ever from this band "Senderos de Tracion" = "Pathways of Betrayal" and this was the first song released on TV from this band, that I know of, anyways... I strongly suggest to react to "Undo the World" from the album "Avalancha" (pretty clear, I believe, for english speakers - not trying to be rude here - to figure out the translation), another great recommendation would be "La Leyenda del Hada y el Mago" = "The Legend of the Fairy and the Wizard" that is gonna blow your socks off without taking your shoes off, guaranteed specially when guitarrist Walter Jardino is the main cause of their success with his complex solos, please do, thanks a lot guys, you're Fire 🔥
In Spain, no one remembers the obligatory video clip from the 90s. We remember the strength of the band, their wonderful albums, and especially their live performances.
This is wonderful. I was young af when this came, but I rapidly learned to sing the words in the most horrific Spanish you've ever could have heard😂. Hugs from 52yo in Sweden. Ps: I still mimic the words, but my Spanish is tinsy bit better 😊
It happens to me with Héroes that being a tremendous Spanish band, for me the best that has made rock there, this song is so, but so good and emblematic, that the other songs of the band go into the background or they don't manage to hook me at all ...The first time they played in Chile they had the idea of having them as the opening act for Iron Maiden...Imagine how it went for the poor people...You can see the influence of The Doors and The Cult for miles, especially in Bunbury, the vocalist.
Qué reaccionais a música de hace tantos años y os guste, dice dos cosas: 1 que hoy en día quizás no haya buena música y 2, que hay temas que no tienen tiempo ni perecen 👍💪👌🎸🤘
Thank you guys for react you are the first one to my favourite band in Spanish since I’m a child!! Please can you react to “ maldito duende” from them I promise that is even nicer
La Chispa Adecuada is also superb! If those lyrics were translated to English they'd be amongst the top 10 bands ever... Some of Heroes del Silencio (Heroes of Silence) lyrics are like the cusp of the human being
First lesson about heroes del silencio; Even in Spain no one knows what their lyrics mean. Their songs are a collection of metaphors that are difficult to bring to reality
hahah just a few weeks ago i wondered why no one reacts to them, theyre sound was some sort of unique although it was more or less just rock ...but it was unique. there where so many good bands no one takes notice anymore. some other nice bands from this time around "Fields of the Nephilim" or "New Model Army"
Hello, I am Spanish and Los Heroes del Silencio are one of my favorite groups. I invite you to see another Spanish group like Mago de Oz and their song La Cantata del Diablo. I hope to see your reaction. A cordial greeting from Spain

I only say "Los Suaves" But, the problem is that it is completely necessary that you look for a video with the translated lyrics. The depth of almost all of his lyrics is impressive. I highly recommend "Parece que aún fue ayer (acústico)"
A romainan and a polish couple reacting to a 30+years spaniard rocking song. You made my day! Also breaking some political correctness... I really like it. :-)
I've been a HDS fan since the early 90s (the t-shirt I have in the photo is theirs), I'm from Argentina and I'm quite familiar here, but not as much as they deserved. If you want to react to bands from Argentina, I recommend Patricio Rey y sus redonditos de ricota, el indio, la renga, divididos, there are many bands as good as Heroes.
i lived 5 years in lima peru and there are so many great spanish singing groups... and i mean really many... i never thought before that there are so many i never listen in europe... its so sad, because most of them are better than the engl. singing groups in europe...^^

I love if Bands singing in theyr own language, its much more authentic. 👍😃
Metal from Spain: Avalanch (power metal/prog/hard rock) actually with Mike terrana on drums (Dirk Schlächter participate in two of their records). All of his albums are in spanish minus "malefic time apocallypse" (in english). Another band interesting is warcry, power metal too. Dark moor and Saratoga (power metal), avulsed (death metal), angelus apatrida (thrash), mago de öz (folk metal), Medina Azahara (andalusian metal), Barón Rojo, Obús, Santa, Panzer, Banzai (80's classical metal)... There are the first they went to my mind but they are a lot more
I love heroes del silencio! My parents always play their music . Best Spanish rock band

I´ve seen them live in Germany 1993, it was a phantastic concert!
i was 12 years old 1993 and i already heard them on the radio - big influence - now i am 30 years older and still love that track
They're not only huge in Spain. We in Latin America love them also. They have influenced many musicians and non-musicians accross the pond.
Its one of the greatest Rock/Hard Rock Songs ever! Greetings from Germany. 🙂
And all Europe
And Bunbury still rocks !
Grandes los Héroes del silencio. Saludos a todos desde 🇲🇽

One of the best Rock/Hard Rock Songs ever! Greetings from Germany. 🙂
that Song was and is well known in Germany - brilliant composition - greetings from East German
It was well known in Germany in the 90s.
I had good times with this song on the dance floor! 😁 It gives me always backflashes!
