I actually really like the midway point in the vid where the condis changed and the crew decided to change their approach. A lot of times I'm out there and the conditions go from bad to worse or the spot I'm on just does off completely and it's important to show that not all trips are going to end in trophies. In fact, most trips won't. So keep changing up the tactics and make the day work as best you can. Love it.
Exactly mate, I love to be versatile out on the water. It's ok to stay in one spot if it's very fishy, but Part of my day out is always to try new spots and just enjoy exploring. pretty easy to get a feed if really want along the likes of blue mao mao and leather jackets/cream fish etc
You got that right "epic". I'm just back from a week out on the briny and man o man you're so right. Nothing beats communing with mother nature when it comes to recharging the batteries.
Great fishing Ollie. I see you are on my old stomping ground we used to live on the other side of marina on the hill at top straight opposite marina Red hill farm entry from flaxmill bay. We used to go out to sea alot with Peter Herbert Brian Dowd and Darren shields you may have heard of them they were the nz free dive team. Was a great time there in the 80s
Heya Ollie, looking at getting an irb for the bay of plenty, heading out to islands like the raus, whale island, motiti etc. what’s the go with inflatable hulls for stuff like that? Also is 3.6m a safe length for when it gets choppy?
Hey mate, Probably a bit small for hitting outer islands around Bay of Plenty. Motiti would be fine but Mayor is too far bro. Need a 4.5-5m+ for that. Irb is mean but when its really choppy it gets slow.
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit thats great to hear and thanks for the speedy reply :) I thinking of getting a 5mm vantage suit to upgrade from my 3mm closed suit. Should allow me to spearfish more often in the winter here in South Australia. I reckon I'll pull the trigger and purchase it :)
Yep! Totally! Ah well, we would have let the second go if we boated that first one, so ended up taking the bigger marlin home so more meat to share around!! Fish lives to fight again!

Hey bro the new model which I’m wearing is awesome. Comfy and well built. Good to have a built in scupper system and knife pouch etc too.
