4:20 that solo is like heaven ❤ ❤
Yes it is also like the one in The Bigger Picture 🤣
Petrucci's heaven
Because it's with the keys of Jordan
Top 3 petrucci solo ever. It’s insanely good.
@@joshwietzke3845 Beautiful and not overly complicate :)
Dream theater's music is a gift for humanity....
Grande Carlotta!!!!!!
Bravissimo👏👏👏...best comment read today
Their music saved my life...
is a gift from the sky
Bravo 👏🏼
Say what you want to but DT still write melodies that would be remembered for years. One of the greatest musicians of all times
Yep! In concert that was amazing!!!
Sahi kaha
Nah, their melodies, and especially choruses, of the past decade or two have all kinda flowed into each other. Just overproduced and saccharine in a really dull way. In one ear, out the other.
@@radicalstanza3614 after portnoy era you mean
@@Marifet124 oml, just drop it already.
3:45 until 4:57 = This is not Dream Theater, this is a Real Theater !!!
The best moment in the music i ever heard....
I can't believe it's already 25 years I have been listening to those guys. their music has always been so much support in my life, during my school years, my wedding, the loss of my father, the birt of my childs. I can't even count anymore the number of times I saw them on stage ... and the amount of money I have spent to have the same guitar gear as john ...
Nice gratefulness! You are a real Dreamer. Keep The Dream Alive!!!
It's like a wrote This Man ... when i entered my wedding the song was Spirit carries on and that's the same i Recorded to my brother and played in a Lot of gigs in honor of him. He passed away 2 y ago. And i intend played with my daughter too.
Every time they come to Brazil i'm in and next week in rock in Rio , the metal day os waiting for us too 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 with God's blessing
I like all the songs on the Distance Over Time album, but this one has really grown on me.
What a fantastic solo, reminds me of ,,The Best of Times", Petrucci's melodic sense is amazing!
Nicolaevici Bodgan, Exactly 👍🏼
DUDE!!! I watched a guitar god cover that song tonight, and after reflecting on it I was like MAN this reminds me of Barstool Warrior!!! Cheers !!
this is the life 2011
The Bigger Picture*
One The Best Guitar sólo Petrucci Ever
What about Breaking all Illusions?
No one can beat best of times solo
The Best Of Times for me!
@@lucasfsl Nah, ending solo of Lie. Best of Times is also great.
god of guitars
My favourite song on this record. This album is honestly faultless and in my opinion, it's DT best album in years. It's easily my most played album this year. I've listened to it an unhealthy amount of times since its release. For me it's my album pick of the year, with Shadow of Intent - Melancholy coming in at a close second.
I didn't expect to find another Shadow of Intent fan here 😂 It's good to see that you've a broad taste in music. Both albums are phenomenal.
R W T - I think so too. My favourite song on this mindblowing album. Really great.
You had me intrigued about this Shadow of Intent band so I went and checked them out. I just listened to the song Malediction. While I'm usually not a fan of this kind of metal, I gotta say I was blown away, almost quite literally because it was so intense! I'll definitely check the album out. Thanks for the reccomendation 😃
My album of the year too
Shadow of Intent is shitty metal core . You cast me in delusion, sorry
4:02 Myung and Rudess made the perfect combination then continued emotionally from Petrucci 👍
The solo part made me cry man..thanks DT..
4:20 = Life is beautiful
This is my favorite song on the album. "Promises made, crying in vain, all empty, never accepting the blame, and not letting go of the shame. A river of tears, as months turned to years, all wasted on someone not willing to change, now only a shadow remains." Every time I hear that line I tear up, it's so powerful. This song speaks of two people who faced hardships and did what they could to escape, but I feel like to can apply to almost any situation of recovery from hard times. Thank you, Dream Theater, for continuing to inspire.
Oh hell yeah. Totally understand
In a dark and lonely corner, of a time-worn dockside inn
Sits a local barstool warrior, talking to his gin
Tracing past decisions, he motions for a shot
Is he doomed to be a man this world forgot?
Just a prisoner of the monster on his back
Call it bad luck, call it fate
Call it stuck here the rest of my days
Serves me right, what went wrong
And where do I belong?
In the glow of flashing lights, on the shoulder of the road
Clutching at the bruises on her skin
She tries to signal danger with anguish in her eyes
Will he see the world of pain she's in?
Or is it too late?
Was it bad luck, was it fate
Or a past that she couldn't escape?
It's not right, something's wrong
Just where do I belong?
Promises made, crying in vain
All empty, never accepting the blame
And not letting go of the shame
A river of tears, as months turned to years
All wasted on someone not willing to change
Now only a shadow remains
No one can save you
And there's no one to see
It has been written
You will become all you think, all you feel, all you dream
Now I'm cutting the anchor away
And I won't look back
I'm starting a new life today
Now I see where I belong
Those are... Not the lyrics. First line is "In a dark and lonely corner, of a time-worn dockside inn", and I'm pretty sure line 3 is "Tracing past decisions, he motions for a shot" rather than "treating". Then in the second verse, it's "Clutching at the bruises on her skin". But aside from that, it's right - nice job if it's a by-ear transcription. I got mine from the official lyrics in the special edition though.
I wish DT would hire a professional lyricists. These lyrics are infantile.
@@josearalat I mean, IMO these lyrics are great, so that's just personal preferences. Also fans hate the album that they had a professional lyricist work on, Falling Into Infinity, so I don't think people would like that change. I personally liked FiI but lots didn't, and many complained about that particular track.
janibonneil these lyrics are amazing what are you talking about
janibonneil
There is not a single ounce of poetry in you.
Mediocre.
I'm so blessed that my life goes with DT's music. I hope my children listen to them too.
Mine do. I planted the seed..it grew
I plan to do the same.
I cant explain how much I F*cking love DreamTheater...and John Petrucci is the best guitarist of any band ever and he inspired me to pick up the guitar and start playing.
Yes, the best guitaris is not fastest, melodic, or full of techniq, but Who inspires people😃
John Petrucci's so good, he almost inspired me to put down my guitar and stop playing! 😂
i second that!
Petrucci's solo is so lovely! Goosebumps and tears...
I really love this song
The 2nd solo from 4.20 is one of his finest.
If only he could perform it properly live....
Guitar solo at the front, absolute butter.......LOVE it.
From 4:21 onwards I get goosebumps every single time, you guys outdid yourselves with this one and At Wit's End, this song will become timeless
now I'm assured that Dream Theater can make anything and everything sound dramatic and epic
Uhh! The tail end of the solo right into the next passage hits right in the feels at 4:56. Makes me want to fall to my knees it's so beautiful! Well done DT! Well done!
agree.
agree right
JP. His writing is unreal. Beautiful melody haunting lyrics.guy is the best
the more greatest band of all time!!!!!
CARPE DIEM thee GREATEST band of all time!!
Along with Fates Warning. The last Arch/Matheos, "Winter Ethereal", is absolutely fabulous.
This song and entire album is an absolute masterpiece!.
Thank you John Petrucci. You are amazing and very Inspirational. Perfection to the fullest
One of the finest lead guitar riffs in rock. Period.
Music for eternity
I always felt like dream theater was humanity in form of a band, it's really hard to explain, like... The band of humanity itself.
Very heart toching solo 4:19, my favorite from this album❤
"Now I'm cutting the anchor away, and I won't look back. I'm starting a new life today. Now I see where I belong".
easily the best dream theater song in years
Dream Theater at its best, the amazing sound that John Petrucci makes.
I love the part at 5:15
The more I listen to DT's music, the more i understand how genius these guys are. some of the best musicians alive today
Best musicians AND writers!
One of the best solos. Ever. That quiet part with the piano and guitar before it and the solo says more than any pop song or trap lyricist could ever say, without need for words. This song is truly awesome, I love it. Thanks Dream Theater
Dramatic Turn of Events and Distance Over Time. This are the ones with Mangini.
Er you forgot two albums :P
@@boggo3848 ya there is also when dream and scenes unite and also falling into a train of turbulence i think the dark side of the moon also had mangeni for a couple songs too
That solo is one of Petrucci's top 3 in my opinion.
Tbh I would have preferred S2N but Barstool warrior is cool too
Dream, drum. guitar.. whatever theater!)
this song grew on me, I love how it builds out to the end in an epic way. Some of John's best solos and great lyrics as well.
I'm going to see them live in Madrid in a few hours after a 5 hours bus trip and then another 5 hours bus trip early tomorrow so I can go to work in the afternoon.
Completely worth it, I already watched them play the entire Images and Words in Milan in 2008 and another concert in Madrid along with Symphony X.
Best effing band ever ❤️🤟🏻
Man I'm so impressed with J.P. he's A better song writer than a guitar player. And he is in my top 5 all time on his instrument. Litarelly played the best electric guitar solo. I have ever seen. And I've seen a lot of the greats live. Beck Howe Dimeola Stolt. Hackett Gilmour .May. Howldsorth you name it .J.P. BLOWS ME AWAY
This solo is one of the highlights of the album imo. Great album
this song is brilliant. thoughtful lyrics and great melodies! One of my favorite albums released this year
dream theater is just perfect, you can feel the power, the emotion and nostalgia in the same time, when you listen to DT its like nothing in life is better than music with the moment you live
I love this CD, bringing the songs back to under 10 minutes was a well welcome, they are my favorite band I do enjoy the longer songs but this brings me back to the Images and Awake CDs.
BEAUTIFUL.... so beautiful song! Thank you!!!!
One of my fav songs on the latest album.
Absolutely my album of the year. The energy and passion is undeniable. Thank you Dream Theater for being so awesome and changing the lives of so many including me.
One of the best songs they've written in the past 10 years with Master Mike Mangini... The song breathes well within the nuances and the piano composition within the bridge is a wonderful touch. The mix is well balanced... Great DT Song! I love the way it feels, and the imagery presented in the video.
Been a fan since 2003 and I’m still a fan. Forever and ever! 👏🏻
Impossible not to cry with Jhon's melodic solos, very cool!! Nice song!
The guitar solo is divinely beautiful. Simple yet so powerful and emotional. Glad to see it getting the love it deserves.
Fantastic! For me definitely the best song from the last album and this clip is so powerful!!!
That "teardrop" solo from Petrucci...amazing!
This came on shuffle during my drive home tonight and I figured it would be a good night to post the song to my FB. Well I come to RUclips and find that this animation video was uploaded today. Perfect timing. One of my favorite tracks on the album.
I love John's guitar melodies in this song. they are gorgeous beyond belief. this song is easily my favorite off the album.
5:57 "Now I'm cutting the anchor away, And I won't look back, I'm starting a new life today Now I see where I belong"
Love the changing of emotion in this song. Just brilliant!
This album is a killer
DreamTheater's definitely GOAT!
It sounds like classic Dream Theater. I love it.
DT are and always will be top musicians.
That subtle bass line @ the 4:00 mark leading into the outro is magic!
Best DT song of all time. Epic stuff here. Musicianship is absolutely outstanding, Every so often a song gets written and moves people to tears. This song is perfect!
Love forever, Dream Theater!
one of the most beautiful solo of john petrucci
Amazing song. DT had created their own sub-genre of the progressive ballad. Every album if theirs has a ballad and they are all.awesome.
I'll always remember hearing this on my first DT concert... Felt like I was in a real bar, just hanging out, having a good time. Truly special moment.
More than one year later and Barstool Warrior is still the best ballad made in the last year along with Wait from Pain of Salvation.
Very different styles yet two absolutely and emotional songs with excellent musicianship from start to finish.
One of the best on the record!
the solo is so beautiful it kills me
Been listening to DT for 30 yrs. Just found my favorite song........again
Love this song
This song is like a jump to the past. Guitar is so fresh and sonority seem like 90's.
My favourite track on this album. ❤️✌🏻
Best song on the album! 👍👍👍👍
Still can't believe I saw them live for the 20th anniversary of Metropolis part 2... They played this whole album first then closed with MP2... Absolutely insane. my only regret is I wasn't closer. GREAT JOB GUYS. Saw them in Riverside at the Fox Theater. Great venue!
Fantastic. Best DT Album in years.
Excellent Guys!! Great song as always.
The solo gave me chills .....
Came here to mention how awesome the solo is on this song. Lots of people beat me to it. Great tune on a great album.
amazing band ever
Dream theater use its incredible technical for melodies... (like six degrees of inner turbulence or metropolis part II). beautiful... Thanks a lot for France.
My favorite song!
I've been listening to my YES albums and the first minute sounded like YES , very cool !
Great track! 🤘
Masterpiece!!
One of my favorite DT song
