Hey man that advice is great, working on semi’s and trailers is how I make a living, almost everything I’ve done in my life has had something to do with all kinds of welding, one of the best skills I’ve ever learned by far!

I used to drive around new sub divisions that are being built always got someone needing to fix some kind of equipment, crack in excavator, cement mixing buckets, forklift forks. Etc...there's alot of small repairs out there just gotta hustle! 🤙🏿👨🏾🏭💵

Another idea is ornamental gates you can charge big money for them. I am a rig welder weld pipeline but I have built some wrought iron gates and do gate operators and charge around 8-10k for a gate system
That works too!

i'm a high schooler, and I approve this video. also, hahaha, if you're not sure what process to use dont weld trailers. whaaaaaat? what if you're great at mig, tig, stick, and fcaw(like me ;) ). they all work well, and it can sometimes be confusing which to use(ok, maybe not tig, for productivity reasons).

What would a sophomore in high school with one year of intro to welding experience be qualified for as far as jobs go anything helps
As a person who’s in the mining industry if the plant manager is following the law he wouldn’t let an underage person out there cause it’s illegal and if they get hurt it always goes back to management and the manager could most likely be put in jail msha ain’t like osha
And some railing to almost all is by code . I dont think a highschool student can put a railing on all the way up to code . Weld it to code / and set it up to code.

I am around Chicago and there a lot of road construction. Do I need to have a weldin rig for do some repairs on those machines or do they got equipment provided?
The job post would usually have this questions answered, but some jobs dont require you to bring your equipment and rig while some do

Don't be afraid to sign up and go. I moved away from home after high school, and after getting married at age 32, we moved way away to go to another school. Where there is a will, there is a way. All it takes is a sound madeup mind. U-Tube; A Ross welding has a great list of 5 mindsets that are absolutely necessary to be successful. I highly recommend looking them up.

In todays day and age a young person who will show up and work is rare, really rare. A person can make a lot of CASH working for folks not just welding but tons of home repairs. Remember when working for cash to charge less than you would if paying taxes and keep it in your mattress.
