The thing that I love the most about your videos, Gurl keepin' it real!!! I only made it though the first book. I agree with everything you said, especially in the relationships, they just didn't fit together. Dream God, how many of these are there going to be? Love ya Girl!!

I went and listened to some fan theory things about the books after I did this video and I wish I had a whole slide about Throne of Glass being dragged into this bullshit. 😅
CC was definitely the weakest series so far. I think there was way too many plot lines and characters all happening at once, and I got so frustrated with the open plot holes at the end of book three. Also don’t get me started on SJM’s constantly “killing off” characters only to bring them back to life immediately afterwards. By the third time it happened in CC3 it was so predictable that I was so frustrated, that I genuinely wasn’t upset that someone’s life was at stake because I knew that they would be fine.
SJM definitely brought Throne of Glass into the CC series. Lidia is a descendant of Brannen and gets her fire powers from him, and even names one of her sons after him. Its reference in the book, but is such a small scene.
Yeah I went and watched some videos after I did this. If I had seen some fan theory videos BEFORE doing this, I would have had a whole slide dedicated to TOG getting dragged back into existence.
I must admit, I’ve only read the Throne of Glass series, and I stopped somewhere in book two or three. The characters just didn’t hit for me, and I wasn’t a fan of the writing, either. So I watched this purely for the entertainment value. Lol. I enjoyed your rant, and frankly, your criticisms seem totally valid to me. Part of the reason I have trouble with a lot of the current YA and adult books that I read is the male love interest being a controlling, overly macho man, so I’m fairly certain I wouldn’t have liked Hunt, either. He’s my least favorite male archetype. I don’t like the trope of ‘I’m not listening to you because I’m protecting you.’ Hopefully the rest of her books are more fun for you to read. Although I wouldn’t mind more rant videos if they aren’t. 😅
You would have HATED this if you don't like overly macho controlling men. It was particularly extreme in this book (to me. some people don't agree). I definitely will probably have some more rant videos coming up. We'll see haha
Haha, I watched it for the s&giggles...I have the books but after watching your review, I am unhauling them because I haven't read and I'm not interested in ACOTR and if the author is connecting those two worlds, then I'm out. 😄 ☹️🙈
Yeah seriously not worth it if you don't want to read ACOTAR. The final book had SOOO much connected and would make no sense if you haven't read ACOTAR. It was silly.
CC was my least favorite series from SJM. I agree she had way too many characters that were unnecessary and didn't do much to enhance the plot. When I was reading the first book I got to the middle and was like... Sarah what the heck... I was confused and the plot was not plotting. It finally started to make more sense but seriously, it shouldn't take hundreds of pages before I get to that point.
Hunt was not a great leading male and I didn't love his character. She should have faked out the fire sprite Lehabah's death and had her hidden in one of the magical books and popped out or something (TaDa! I'm alive and saved your 🍑, told you I was mighty💪). The dragon chick they saved didn't really add much. I guess she was brought in to tie in the woman who started it all by getting hunted down and taken out but seriously, she didn't do anything to enhance the story. They wasted a ton of time with Ithan and the wolf chick he saved making it seem like maybe they were mates (that is what I thought) which would make sense as to why he was so obsessed with saving her but then she turns into what, a zombie wolf or something? Sorry, I can't remember all these characters' names.
The jump to Valaris... 🗻They spent entirely too much time in those stupid caves. I was really disappointed in the part ACOTAR played in it. She goes there and is basically in a cave the whole time? I think that Bryce and Az meeting and having that same star power made them click a bit more like mates than she had with Hunt. Maybe Bryce will get sick of Hunt and dump him and have to go to Valris to help them in battle so Nesta reaches out to her somehow? Her parents loved all of them so much maybe they will leave where they are and just relocate there and Bryce can stay and become Azriel's mate?
Although there was a bit of a hint that maybe he will end up with Gwyn but that whole regifting the necklace thing I think will be a huge cluster that blows up in his face.
Also, it would be cute to have a little novella of Bryce's parent's time while she was there because Mama obviously put her charms on everyone there but it was glossed over. Especially with Nesta because her mom sucked so bad and she seemed to like how motherly and loving she was to her. The mom she always wanted sort of thing. That is why I think she could possibly have them go to that realm. Bryce can always just pop back home to visit Ruhn once in a while. He will be playing house with Lidia and stepdad to her boys so he will have his plate full most of the time.
I can see why they used the angle of Lidia having kids and agreeing to be a double agent in order to save her boys. As a mom, I know what lengths one will do to keep her kids safe. In order for her to do that she had to be something that she wasn't and playing such an evil person on the outside to keep your children safe seems plausible. I know my son hated to tell me when something happened to him because I went all Mama Bear on whoever messed with him.

Ya, so also, Tharion 🔱ends up marrying Sathia instead of the water Queen's bratty daughter and pisses both of them off. I can't even remember the point of Sathia's character at all other than Tharion saving her from marrying a jerk which in turn gets him out of marrying a spoiled princess that he lost interest in a while ago. Her brother is part of the brat pack and the snake lady trapped her true love who her parents hated anyways so maybe they gave him to the snake lady to keep him away from her so she wouldn't run off and marry him? I don't know, I think she was an unnecessary character as well as her doped up bf.
Fury's character was too mysterious, didn't give enough background and all we knew was that she would disappear for weeks on some secret squirrel missions and everyone was scared of her. She was super powerful but no one knew what she could do? # MIMS and I think her real father is Thanatos because he is from the Night Court, who is high fae and has an unnamed daughter. The world of ACOTAR mentions high lord Thanatos' daughter who apparently takes off all the time and he is annoyed with her. I had more to the theory but of course I cannot find my notes on it (shocker). There is a bunch of other stuff that could have either been dropped on the edit floor or added a bit more info. I think you are right, she will probably make a few novella's to fill in the cracks of some of the unresolved storylines of the side characters. Way too many people just clogged up the story and made the books much longer than needed. You can write a really great book in 500 pages Sarah... just sayin. On the bright side, if you carry one of those books in your bag you can use it as a weapon against muggers. 💥TWACK
Oooo! I love that idea with Lehabah. I loved your breakdown of everything I think the books ONLY good purpose is to take out a mugger 🤣🤣🤣 That had me cackling. Sarah said she's currently working on CC4 and ACOTAR5 so I'm wondering how long that will take and if there will be more crossovers... I really hope not. I would like a novella about Bryce's parents in Velaris, but I doubt she'll do that. She's got too many other convoluted things to do probably.
@@kimberlyreads SJM just needs to make the books shorter and she would have more time to do other things 🤣
