Someone please suggest me a novel series which are similar to tog bcz i wanna read tog for the first time again but thats impossible! 😭❤
I’ve heard that A Court this Cruel and Lovely series has the same vibe as TOG, it’s on my TBR.
@katherinetaylor6 I’ve not heard of it! I’ll have to look into it 🤩
I read Assasins Blade first and will die on this hill that it should be read first.. breaking the flow to throw that in at some other point is so weird to me especially considering how the endings of Sarah's books always have so much going on. I think knowing about her past is a great place to start, and as you start meeting new characters in throne of glass/crown of midnight you understand why shes guarded and not wanting to share the past (that you already know at this point) and so when she finally does share it feels like you can breath again with her. AND since she keeps secrets from even the reader, its nice to know something about her LOL
I get this point. I would be interested to hear SJM articulate her exact opinions as to why she recommends reading it third and not first.
I read it third and wish I read it first
I get both sides of this. I read it first both times I read this series and I think I’ll always read it first. The tandem read was so fun though and because of it I loved Tower of Dawn! Highly recommend
YES. I have seen people regret NOT reading TAB first, but I have never seen anyone say they wish they would have read it 3rd or 4th.
@@StarflowerStablesme too… crown of midnight and tower of dawn were my 2 faves. Unpopular opinion, but heir of fire was at the bottom for me, next to AB.
I really loved this video!! So helpful… I have 200 Pages in ACOSF and already bought the first 3 books in ToG. So looking forward to it & seeing what else you post on this channel 🎉 great job!!!
Thanks Jess! I’m glad you liked it! I already know this is going to be such a fun series 💕
ToG is absolutely fucking amazing homie your gonna loooovvveeee it!!!!!
This is my most highly anticipated read!!! Just got ACOTAR last week can’t wait to start this journey!!!
I’m so happy for you!!! 🥰🥹🤩
@@RubyJeanVlogs will come back to update after book two
Love the Star Wars edit at the beginning of the movie!
I couldn’t resist 🥰
Starting ACOTAR after my current read and I’m so excited!
Yay!!! Good luck 🫶🏼
Can’t wait to get acotar kinda new to fantasy reads but was highly suggested this book
Yes! I could not suggest it enough for anyone new to fantasy!
Well I’ve read a song of ice and fire with so many POV and plots going on. So should be ok with TOG.
Absolutley! You’ll be just fine 😅
I just finished ACOTAR and feel empty. I feel like I just got to visit my best friends in another country, but now have to go home 😭 I'm taking a break from fantasy to read A Little Life (which I hear will him me so yay), but afterwards I think I'm going to read CC. I think TOG has too many books for me at this moment. The number feels daunting
TOTALLY understandable!
I’ve read the acotar series, I have tog and cc, but not read them yet.
Sounds like it’s time to pick up TOG!! It’s an intimidating series to start (I know it was for me) but it’s so worth it!
Thank you so much, I have been wanting to read this series and I wanted to know the best way to do it and you explained so well and at the same time, didn't bore me with the straightforwardness that other channels would, again thank you and I am planning to read them whenever I can get my hands on them!
I’m so glad it was helpful! I got the same vibes from other guides and it was a big goal of mine to not be boring… so I appreciate that 🤣
Well the, mission sucess!
@PeachyxLemonXx-ku9mo you’re too kind!! 🥰 thank you ❤️
Ahhh I bought the Sarah J Mass books for Throne of Glass and i'm so excited to read them! (And I also came back to this video for the guide lol)
@PeachyxLemonXx-ku9mo I know you’ll love it!!! I’ve been enjoying rereading the series 🥹
***Spoiler***
Reading Assassin’s Blade first made Sam’s death hit so much harder because you had no idea he was going to die. Also really helped me understand her better. And I LOVED that book. Also didn’t tandem read. Read Empire of Storms and then watched a full breakdown for Tower of Dawn 😂 totally cheated.
Nooooo 🥲 please tell me you at least read TOD eventually 😭
@@RubyJeanVlogs about a year later lol but eventually I did.
Thank you for this video. I reread COSF before starting HOFAS. Omg I discovered I have to read TOG. Ive never read TOG. And I only read the last chapters of HOSAB. Im all over the place, like Bryce 😂
I’m so glad you found it helpful! I’ve met so many people who read it like you have and were so confused, so I wanted to put this out there to help anyone getting started. I really hope you enjoy TOG! It’s hard to say… but I think it’s my favorite series of the three (it’s hard to have a favorite when two of the three series are still being written 😅)
I read (and will always recommend) reading Assassins blade fourth idk sm abt it js hits different fourth
I’ve heard that and am debating reading it then for my reread
Personally I did ACOTAR- ACOWAR, then jumped to TOG (with AB third tho I have opinions on that), back to finish ACOFAS and ACOSF before CC
Yes!!! Love this! 💖
I am on crescent city books now because I have all of them but not all of the throne of glass series yet. I have 0 of ACOTAR
For the assassins blade I was told it goes behind throne of glass and in front of crown of midnight
Okay, I am so conflicted because I want to read TOG series and idk where to put AB! I know you said third, but literally everyone else on the planet insists on reading it first. But your reasoning does make a lot of sense, so now I’m so torn on what to do 😭 SJM even put of a preferred order with AB first. And I only own AB right now because I was intending to read it first but now I’m second guessing and need to go buy TOG! 😩
Actually, SJM did post on her website that the recommended order is not for AB to be first. But, In all reality, it is up to you. I just don’t see certain plot twists or character developments being as exciting if you read AB first.
What did you do? I'm in your position. I can't decide which order to read.
@@sazzlepopz1553 I haven’t yet started the series yet 😭 but I think I’m set to read AB third!
@@peightonsmith4224 I have started ACOTAR again 😂 so will put off the decision for a while!
I am just starting to read the series and I half to say that they are interesting
Are you starting with ACOTAR or TOG?
@@RubyJeanVlogs ACOTAR series
@Desbles2009 yay!!!! I hope you enjoy it!
@@RubyJeanVlogs thanks I will try
Do I need to read ACOTAR before Crescent City if I don't want to read ACOTAR and don't care for spoilers?
Big parts of Crescent city 3 will not make sense to you without reading ACOTAR first.
@@RubyJeanVlogs ok thanks
I need help. Is it necessary to read ToG before CC? can I skip ToG (for now)? If I'm going to miss easter-eggs or plot points in CC, then I will invest in this series too, but a friend got be the CC trilogy as a present and I don't know what to do. (already read ACOTAR)
You will miss Easter eggs, but not necessarily entire plot points. You can read CC before TOG, but you will miss out on some really exciting foreshadowing. It’s entirely up to you, it just depends on how you feel about those things.
@@RubyJeanVlogs thank you! I'll be patient and read ToG before CC then, getting the books today! have a great weekend ^_^
@Art3mis1990 you won’t regret it! Happy reading 🫶🏼
Welp…. I’m on Queen of Shadows and I haven’t read the prequel yet 😅 So I’m just going to continue in my habit of reading the prequel at the very end of the series lol
lol and that’s totally fine! Enjoy QOS!!! That’s my fav TOG book 🤩
@@RubyJeanVlogsit’s my fav so far too, I’m almost to page 200 and I’m HOOKED! Not quite sure how I’m going to go about the tandem read after this as I do most of my reading at school, but I’ll figure it out I guess 🤷♀️ I’m already the crazy bookworm of my class so it won’t be that unusual for me to haul two giant books to class 😆
@Loony_Dragon lol!!! I had the same problem so my hack was to have the physical copy of EoS and the e-book copy of ToD!
@@RubyJeanVlogs That’s smart! Unfortunately I don’t have anything to read ebooks on, because everything I’ve tried either costs money that I don’t have or doesn’t have the books I want to read available :/
@Loony_Dragon have you tried Libby? It’s an app where you connect your library card and you get TONS of free ebooks and audiobooks! You should give it a try! (I’m all about financially friendly options 🫶🏼)
So which of the series was the best according to you?
TOG has a VERY special place in my heart ❤️
YOu really don't need to read crescent city last, I read acotar first then crescent city, working on the second book.
Good luck with CC3 without having read TOG 🫣
Once the next ACOTAR book comes out anyone new is gonna have to start with TOG😂
Right!?!? 😂
Just finished ACOTAR. I haven’t read fantasy for a long time and that got me back in the game! Thanks for showing me what to read next ❤
I hope you love TOG as much as I did 🫶🏼
Who feyre ended up with?
@aviano5 that’s such a great question! You should really read the book 🫢
@RubyJeanVlogs I'm reading the first book and already want her to ended up with tam. Not rhys. Is it a happy ending or bitter sweet 😶
@aviano5 let’s just say some people show their true colors in book two and you will have some VERY big changes of heart 🫢
I am new to fantasy, thanks to Forth Wing, so I am planning to start the series this year. Thanks for the video it was a big help.
I’m so glad! If you’re new to fantasy, I’d 100% recommend starting with ACOTAR! I hope you enjoy!!! 🩵
That was the same for me. I read fourth wing and iron flame, and went into acotar and now crescent city
Same I fell in love after reading fourth wing. I picked up so many fantasy books especially all these series she mentioned
Your expressions at around 13:00 to 13:16 is exactly why I love reading.
The other day my 6 year old daughter wrote in her journal, “I love reading because it is like watching TV in my head” #proudmommoment 🥲
Hahaha that’s adorable!!! Big props to you for raising a reader! That’s some top-notch parenting 🙌🏼
Yeah I love that innermovie too 🥰 My mum she always had to hide me book during bed time... but I always waited when my parents fell asleep and took that book back 🤣🤣🤣
@FreedomShakerHub me too!!! I didn’t get in trouble much, but when I did it was for reading after my bedtime 🤣
@@RubyJeanVlogs I think it's best way to get in trouble 🤣
I started ACOTAR last week. I have been out of reading for a long while, but I've missed it so much. I kept trying to start books including Thrown of Glass and honestly it was a struggle. I am already sucked into ACOTAR and am enjoying it so far. I am brand new to Maas universe but I'm excited to be apart of it and leap in. :D Also, love your video.
I have just started ACOTAR last week after being out of reading for a long time two and I am also hooked, just starting ACOMAF (book 2) how are you finding it?
@MissEmilyRose I am more then halfway through a court of mist and fury and I just hit the good part. Omg wow. I super love it. I'm nervous to make it to the next book. It's beefy. I do love how Maas tells a story though. I don't understand why people are bored at all, I love getting to know characters and everything building the plot. I'm pretty easy to please I think overall story wise. Lol.
Listened to ACOTAR as audiobooks (not the audio drama, that was too much for me) 😂 but I was done with all books under two weeks! They are a VERY nice fantasy read if you haven’t done so for a long time or are just getting into the game 🙌
i really adore these kinds of videos, that show catalogues of an author's work instead of individual reviews. youve earned a subscriber
Wow, thank you! 🥹
Then there's my reading order. Read Acotar some years ago but didn't finish Silver Flames. Read the the 2 Crescent Cities last year. Decided to try to read the Throne of Glass series in January before Crescent City 3. Got through 3 books a part of Assassins blade. Decided to reread Acotar 1 and 2. Currently reading Crescent City 3 and will go back to read Silver Flames and the rest of Throne of Glass😅
You amaze and terrify me 🤣 I’m too OCD to jump around like that 🫣
This would kill me :D 🤣🤣🤣
I've started "Throne of Glass" and divided each book into chunks, so my daily goal is to read one chunk to maintain my motivation. I'm on the first book and currently at chapter 26. It's not bad, but it takes me a few pages to really concentrate. I usually read a lot of romance, and the romance in this book is almost non-existent 😂. This is my first book by Sarah J. Maas, and I'm also a rookie in fantasy. I’m not sure why I chose "Throne of Glass" instead of "ACOTAR"-maybe I wanted to read everything in order 😅.
I LOVE your dedication and am totally invested 😍
Also... The review u gave about cc... I have hopes now that I'll like something else aftery tog hangover..
I'm saving your video for later. I just started with ACOMAF and I love it. Glad I've started with the romance fantasy first 😄This reading order will definitely help, so thanks! :)
I’m so glad!!! 🤩🥰
This was so well done and comprehensive! I personally chose to read empire of storms and then tower of dawn (SJM’s recommended and intended reading order) and really like it! By the time EOS was done I was beyond irritated with Aelin’s secrets and arrogance and kind of burnt out of the constant action, so TOD felt like a nice change of pace :)
Omg….. having read soooo many fantasies I still struggled so much CC because it’s just so different and freakinshly humongous. I’ve had the third book ever since it came out but I don’t have the guts to pick it up because I’ve heard it leaves you l with a crazy cliffhanger AGAIN and idk if I can do it 😭
That’s fair! It doesn’t help that she said CC4 isn’t even on the list of her next three books… and that we will have to wait awhile for them to
I appreciate the work real readers do make it easier for the ppl really trying to get into reading at this intensity- THANKS
This is such a sweet comment thank you ☺️
I agree with you 100% on the read order. I started with ACOTAR and this series got me back into reading. I then went on to Throne of Glass and had a bit of a hard time with it throughout but I will have to reread it. I am now on Book 2 of Crescent City and I was very lost at first. If it hadn't been for the other two series and reading up on how the books are within the same universe but different worlds I wouldnt have continued it.
I love how many people have shared that SJM got them back into reading 🥰
I did not do the tandem read and I don't regret it, because ToD is such a beautiful book on its own! but it was really hard to get into it in the first 200 pages. I would've preferred to read ToD before EoS and just not read the last chapter. I would not have wanted to skip to ToD while reading EoS, but I get why people do the Tandem Read! I can't wait to start CC!!
@rs-gv6dx Thank you for sharing your opinion! You have no idea how happy I am to hear that someone else loves TOD as much as me! I honestly think it doesn’t get the love it deserves… I hope you love the CC books! I know they have been such a fun and wild ride for me!
Yeahh I really liked it! I didn’t like Chaol before, but I like him since ToD! But I love HoF, QoS, KoA, and EoS more than ToD but it’s still a 4.75 star read for me :)) I really hope I get into CC as well!
@SR-gv6dx I really love how SJM captures his healing journey so well! But QOS is TOTALLY my fav 🫶🏼
@@RubyJeanVlogs yes, I totally agree! KoA is my fav, but I loveee QoS!!
Yes.. TOD is amazing I loved that one. My order does COM, TOD, KoA, QOS, EOS, TOG, HOF, AB
I actually hv a question abt Throne Of Glass. Are any of these books spicy🫣🫣 I’ve seen mixed reviews abt them so idk what to think
None for the first 4 books! There is a a few (1-2 per book) once you get to the last three books, but they are much more tame than ACOTAR. They can also be easily skipped without loosing plot if you chose to do so👍🏼
I read TOG first and have just started CC1 😅
If you can, read ACOTAR before CC2!
Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read. Isaiah 34:16
Who says I don’t read both?
Ugh! So even though I watched your video before jumping into TOG , I later referenced an image from reddit for the series reading order, because I can't retain information apparently. Anyways, this reddit image said to read "Assassin's Blade" after "Heir of Fire"! Welp, that's the order I accidently followed, and the whole time I was reading AB after HOF was torturus and made no sense. THEN I come back to this video and see you put it after "Crown of Midnight," which makes way more sense in my opinion. YEESH. Long story short to anyone watching this video, don't make the mistake that I did and follow this girl's advice!! Now off to finally read "Queen of Shadows"!! 😅
Queen of Shadows is my favorite!!! 😍
I started with Crescent City series first and I loved it!!! I Just started ACOTAR and honestly it is taking me longer than CC. I have put it down to read other books. CC was just that good it keep me reading well into the night and going right to the next book. I am so pleased to hear she is continuing the series ✨🤍
It's so good! I felt the same way about not being able to put the CC books down. She does a REALLY good job about not making the books feel like they’re as long as they are… they fly by!
I also started with CC reading the 2nd atm. Maybe acotar will feel silly after these 😅
Hi !! I've reached CC3 unknowingly that it has an acotar crossover. But I'm really scared if it'll spoil acotar if I read CC 3 further , so I would like to ask ..can I continue CC 3 and then I'll read acotar after House of flame and shadow..
@aradhanabhola7549 it will not spoil! The most recent ACOTAR book takes place before CC3, I will actually advise you NEED to read ACOTAR before CC3, or the entire ACOTAR series will be spoiled for you…
@@RubyJeanVlogs thanku for the heads up!!
I'm consider pausing CC3 now 😭
I'll read the WHOLE acotar first ,then I'll go back to CC3
I didn't know it was an extended universe when I picked up CC. I loved the series so much. I had heard that ACOTAR and others were mid. I just found out about TOG. If you are an avid reader, CC is fun. It keeps you engaged, and it's so good. I started reading it because I wanted something that would take me some time to read and would hold my interest. Some fantasy books feel like a quick snack. CC is a complete meal.
Excellent review Ruby, very helpful, and no spoilers. Just subscribed! I'm currently on the second book of the acotar series... and that's all I've read so far, but I was curious about the others. Thanks again! 😊
ACOMAF is so good!!! I hope you enjoy it! 💕
@@RubyJeanVlogs I finished it shortly after watching your video! I am currently halfway through ACOWAR and am REALLY enjoying this one- was hooked immediately and have not been bored once! 😃
@thethriftyfawn ACOWAR in my opinion is the most underestimated book!! It’s so good 😍
Assassins Blade will always be first in my book, I did not care for ToG or CoM and could not get into the series because of ToG! But when I read AB first instead it helped me a bit so I can get to HoF which is where the series really takes off in my opinon! :)
Awesome! Thank you! Have not read any of these yet! So helpful and can’t wait to dive in!!!
I am so excited for you! I would give anything to read these books for the first time again 😅
I love tower of dawn. I tried the tandem and hated it and swapped and I prefer the single read. But chaol is my guy ❤ I love him. I also read AB first and am glad I did. But when I reread I’m going to read AB in your order. But I will never do the tandem lol. Cannot wait to get into CC.
Tandem is a big beast and can be super overwhelming 🤣 Yerene was my fav character in that book 😍
Which one did you read first? I love the series but just know I can’t do the tandem read😂 but idk which one to read first
@oliviamorgan3908 if you don’t do Tandem read, then Empire of Storms is what Sarah J Maas puts first.
im about to figure out how to edit my ebooks so that I can just combine both empire of storms and tower of dawn into one ebook and do the tandem read that way
WAIT I actually saw a tictok once where a girl claimed she found a way using code!?!? I’d look it up and see if it’s a possibility!
@@RubyJeanVlogs yeah I was able to do it using calibre
@OrenjiArms genius!
I loved switching POVs in the Heroes of Olympus! Is throne of glass similar to that style?
I’ve actually not read those books yet, so I can’t compare… but the entire book series is multi-POV like nothing I’ve read before! The first book only covers a couple, but the further you get in the books, the more POVs you get!
Hi !! I've reached CC3 unknowingly that it has an acotar crossover. But I'm really scared if it'll spoil acotar if I read CC 3 further , so I would like to ask ..can I continue CC 3 and then I'll read acotar after House of flame and shadow..
It will spoil ACOTAR significantly further 🫣 so sorry to be the bearer of bad news… but I swear it will be worth it to take a break and read ACOTAR first!!!
I am so excited to start these! I am wrapping up, and prob have months to go still, all of the Shadowhunter books this year and Maas is my next in line to go through! Thank you for this, def following your order suggestions!
Thanks Jenna! 🩵
I've never done a tandem read before but you convinced me!! Just finished Queen of Shadows and it was my fave so far.
YES!!! You won’t regret it!!
I JUST started reading Maas’ books and was lucky enough to start with ACOTAR. (Lucky me!) now I guess ToG is next. To keep my own sanity though, as I am a very poor reader, I listen to the audiobooks instead.
Anyone having any recommendations on that front? Also how high is the spice level of ToG, I would like to be able to hold a straight face in public 😂 (I have no poker face what so ever)
YAY!!!! Spice is practically non-existent in TOG compared to ACOTAR! You won’t run into any till Empire of Storms anyways 👍🏼
So im almost done with the first tog book, can anyone tell me (WITHOUT SPOILING ANYTHING) how badly the books will rip your uheart out
I don’t think another book/series has ever ripped my heart out so badly before 🤣😭
This was very helpful although I am audio booking these I might have to physically read 5-6
Yes! 110% recommend it!
So, I am new to this author, I've just bought ACOTAR, but I must admit she's made it a little confusing. Are these 3 series part of the same Universe? Because if not, then it wouldn't matter would it. But from your video it sounds like the Crecent City has nothing to do with ACOTAR and TOG, so this is where I'm a little confused. I have never read any of her books and there is just so much hype about ACOTAR etc and I keep being recommended these in my bookgroups on FB because I am a huge Amelia Hutchins fan for example and I did like Rebecca Yarros.
So I guess the question is: Are they at all connected?
They are! But not in the way you are thinking… SJM has not even fully revealed how they are ALL connected, but she drops lots of hints that build off of each other (most coming from CC, which is why you have to read it last in order to catch them all). Just start with ACOTAR! If you love it and can’t get enough (which is usually what happens), then give TOG a try! It doesn’t seem like that big of a commitment when you love them so much!!
So is Crescent City and ACOTAR on the same timeline just one somehow has technology and one doesn't? On CC3 right now..
CC3 will explain more… but it’s not 100% laid out for us yet… hopefully we get more in the next ACOTAR book or CC4
Why should you end with crescent city? I went from Acotar straight to Crescent city (I’m currently about halfway through CC1) because I want to read throne of glass while I’m waiting for new books and the other two series since it’s a complete series.
You can read Crescent city first, there’s just gonna be so many jaw-dropping wild moments that will not make sense to you without the context of throne of glass in CC3.
Just finished CC2 and wow I did NOT see that coming… I’m still in shock
Right!? I’m so glad I vlogged reading that book because I can relive experiencing it for the first time 🤣🤣🤣
so just im at book 4 of throne of glass rn, and didnt know others existed sooooooo :) lmao..... prequels
lol welcome to the Maasverse 🤣 too many books 🫣
I started CC first lmaooo done with acotar and reading TOG! Honestly why not 😭💀
You’ll want to read CC again after you finish all the other books 🫢
Me crying in the corner cuase I already read The Assassins Balde first, was planning on reading others later :(
That’s okay! It won’t ruin things, it’ll just be a different experience!
Hunted out this video because I'm on the 2nd chapter of House of Earth and Blood and all I can think is wtf? But good to know that's normal and it's not just me
I swear, get through the first 5-7 chapters and BAM you will be hooked! You really have to power through the first ones 🤣
My unpopular opinion is that TOG is 10x better than ACOTAR
I might agree 🫣
Thanks so much ! I started with acotar and I’m currently reading the second book of crescent city. I maybe should’ve read TOG before starting cc but I’m probs gonna just read it after 😅
Oh my goodness!! You need to DM me after you finish CC2 so I can hear your thoughts on how it ends 🤣
@@RubyJeanVlogs unfortunately i already know the big plot twist at the end thanks to an instagram post by the author 😭 but let me tell you, when i realised what was gonna happen at the end I SCREAMED
@Bookaddict_101 Oh No! I’m so sorry that was your experience!
@RubyJeanVlogs the end of HOSAB had already been spoiled for me too, but I still was bolting upright out of bed and gasping.
@cashmoney7292 LOL it had my jaw unhinged 🤣
lol i read cc1 first, then was halfway through cc2 until my friend demanded i stop reading until i read the other two series
HAHA good friends don’t let friends read CC first 🤣
Thank you for this! I just finished TOG and I wanna know what now 🤣
You are so welcome! You can’t go wrong with reading A Court of Thorns and Roses next! 🤩
Is there a major reason without spoilers why I should read crescent city last? I just finished acotar and I’m not sure which one to read next 😭
Some things happen in CC three that won’t make sense to you if you read it before throne of glass. Technically, you could read CC one and CC two then read throne of glass.
I'm finishing the last book of Acotar and I loved the series, I was thinking about reading the Throne of glass series... Is Throne of glass books spicy as the Acotar ones?
Not at at!! It’s is extremely tame and the first couple books are actually “closed door.” I will say that the 5th and 6th book do both have a couple, but still more tame than ACOTAR.
@@RubyJeanVlogs update: I’m reading the throne of glass series (I’m already into the secondo book) and I love it! It’s different from Acotar but it’s nice in is own way. Do you know a Instagram group or something about these books? I would love to have a community
@francesca4569 I couldn’t have worded it better myself!!! I love the “a court of faeries & fangirls” podcast (really great breakdowns as well as opinion sharing and they discuss lots of fun theories!!!) they also have a really good Instagram and they repost a ton of other SJM related content, so you will get exposed to a ton of other great insta communities there too!
*cries in E-reader* how am I supposed to tandem readdddddd
LOL I read TOD as an e-book and EoS as a physical copy! I actually loved it and would 110% Recommend!
Hope to hear your thoughts on 4th Wing and Iron Flame!
Fourth Wing is great! Not - best book ever - like you hear it hyped up to be, but it’s good! On the other hand… Iron Flame could not have been more disappointing to me…
BUT I know this is a fairly controversial opinion since most people love both books!
Hii I’m not really interested in ACOTAR but I’m loving ToG (currently reading crown of midnight). I am interested in CC, do I really have to read ACOTAR before I can read CC?
I hate to tell you this… But you could read CC1 without reading ACOTAR… But you will be seriously confused if you don’t read avatar before reading CC2 and CC3.
Well shoot! I finished all ACOTAR books the first two crescent city and first 3 TOG. I’m planning to read all TOG start over from beginning this year.
I love a good SJM reread!
Me reading Assassin Blade after Heir of Fire.....LOL
Also a GREAT place to read it 💕
I started with crescent city and now thinking of reading throne of glass. did i go wrong??
😱🫣🥲
So if we’ve only read ACOTAR series, do we need to wait for ACOTAR 6 before we start CC? I plan to read TOG but if I finish that before she publishes #6…???😅
No. If you have read everything through ACOSF you are good to start reading CC. Truthfully you can read the first three ACOTAR books then CC1, and CC2.
*HOWEVER*
HOW. EV. ER.
You will HAVE to read ACOSF before CC3.
So, to save yourself some grief and suspense, just read ALL of the ACOTAR series through ACOSF then move on to CC.
Nope! I don’t think she would have released CC3 before ACOTAR6 if that was the case, so I’m pretty positive you’re good to go 🫶🏼
Ngl I was gonna do the TOG tandem read but i totally forgot…
HAHAHHAA it happens 🤣
I'm very new to fantasy. I read ACOTAR and was flung into fantasy being my absolute fave, and I couldn't put it down and the series has become like a hyper fixation to me. I then started Crescent City just cuz it was available at the library when I stopped by for Divine Rivals (which was 5 star for me tbh) and girl I read like 50 pages and returned it and said "I need to just read throne of glass wtf was that all about" lmaoo
I am starting ToG this week ! I have convinced almost all my coworkers and boss to read actor and now we are all moving onto ToG together !
YAY!!! 😍🤩
The acotar bonus chapters thing makes me so confused + idk if its the same in the other books
Right!? I’m really not a fan because it just seems greedy in the publisher’s part. Hopefully they will chill on that for the next ACOTAR release.
Someone lied to me and my friends and we read CC 1 after ACOTAR series instead of TOG. I got through CC1 on willpower and my love for Supernatural/Fantasy content. It's very much Zootopia meets Season 9 Episode 20 of Supernatural "Bloodlines" mixed with a detective show. I can't wait to get through CC2 and 3 (since I'm already committed and really enjoyed the ending of CC1) and read TOG.
LOL this is the best description to CC1 I’ve heard yet 🤣
Thank you for making this! Sometimes it's hard to find info that is spoiler free! I just finished the ACOTAR series and was trying to figure out what was next. I think something worth mentioning I learned from lurking through the ACOTAR reddit is that there are some bonus chapters that are only in some versions of the ACOTAR books! I found links on reddit to read them since they weren't in the copies I read!
Yes!!! Honestly I could probably do a whole video just about bonus chapters because there are so many!
@@RubyJeanVlogs that would be super helpful! I wish I had known about the bonus chapters sooner because I would have liked to have read them in tandem with the pace of series. Hindsight, I'll have to check for them when I read TOG and CC.
I just finished acotar.. thrilled to know there will be more. 😊 I already planned to read TOG next. However I took a break and reading the shatter me series currently. But I plan on reading the rest of her books SOON. 😊
I have been dying to read the shatter me series!!! I hope you love it!
I read Acotar first and started crescent city now I don’t know what to do. Do I start the second CC book or start TOG? Like am I screwed if I finish CC before I start TOG I keep hearing I did it wrong
It’s all your choice. If it helps, CC2&3 are FAR more enjoyable with the context of TOG… without it, many things will feel random and insignificant to you.
@@RubyJeanVlogs oh noooo okay I hate series jumping but I’m also a context girly for sure😭
I read ACOTAR first, then TOG (I read assassins blade first, and did the tandem read), then I read CC
So long as you do Tandem read and don’t read CC first… I’m happy 😅💖
@@RubyJeanVlogs I just finished TOG and I’m starting CC today! 🥰 def listening to that podcast, thank u!
@AnnikasASMR yay! Goodluck with CC!
I finished all of acotar a few months ago but just started cc1. I’m having such a hard time getting into it, so I’m glad you said to just get past the first 5 chapters! Should I stop reading it and start tog though?
I would recommend TOG first… but it’s ultimately up to you!
Your videos are very informative and enjoyable 😍♥️ Thank you for the video.
This is so sweet! Thank you! 🥰
Is anyone else's Kingdom of Ash a misprint? Whoever printed the book added some of the same pages in twice...I had to skip around the book in order to find the sections that matched the current chapter I was reading
No way! I hadn’t even heard of this before 🫢
@@RubyJeanVlogs I wish I could show u photos but yeah I was weirded out ...I've never seen anything like it before 😂😂😂
That’s crazy! Whoever sold you that 110% owes you a new copy for free 😅
This was a great video. I now know what order to read the books in. But I have no idea what they are about, how do I figure that out?
That’s a great question! I could definitely make a video about that… But for now, I would definitely recommend reading the review on Goodreads! That way you can make sure that you get all the info without any spoilers ☺️
@@RubyJeanVlogs Thank you! I will definitely do that
Thank you so much! I just finished the ACOTAR series and my heart needs help, so I’m picking up TOG. I’m so excited because they told me the hugest spoiler from it 😭❤
Oh no! I’m so sorry it was spoiled for you!! I hope you can still enjoy it!!! 💕
@@RubyJeanVlogs I’m sure I will :)
Why is CC an absolute hard 'read last'?
It’s hard to really say without spoiling anything… but trust me when I say some “big deal” moments will not make any sense to you without the context of the other two series…
Why does crescent city have to be last?
Without spoiling it…? Kinda hard to say without being super vague, but there are some HUGE plot twists and major foreshadowing/context that will make zero sense to you if you do not read CC first… it would be like picking up a book where a bunch of pages were ripped out and expecting to still enjoy the full story 🫢
Excited to finally start ToG very excited after watching Haley Phams video on reading them all
I don’t think I’ve seen that one yet… Her videos are so good!
@@RubyJeanVlogs it’s so good i hope you enjoy it
i'm reading the throne of glass series now! 😊 i'm on assassin's blade currently (reading it third!). i was planning to read all of Sarah J. Maas' series in this order anyway but i'm curious why it really matters? i thought they were all separate worlds that's she's built so why does crescent city have to be last? just curious!
@simplymeditations can I just say trust me!? lol if you don’t mind a mini spoiler, I wouldn’t mind DMing you privately, but I want to try to keep the comments spoiler free 🫶🏼
@@RubyJeanVlogs haha okay i'll just trust it! excited to get through all of them 😊
@simplymeditations I’m excited for you!!! I hope you love them as much as I do 😍
I just finished acotar series yesterday. All the books and I've never read series before. Are you 100% sure I can't go to the cc1. Are you sure I can't instead of reading the 8 books tall mountain that is the tog series .😂😢 please say yes. Even though you just said no. Please. I beg you.
lol I will cut you some slack…. You CAN technically read CC before TOG, but you will miss out on good Easter Eggs and some jaw dropping moments will go right over your head without context 🙃 you have been warned 🫣
@@RubyJeanVlogs 🥺😭😭 ok. I'll read tog. I'm buying book 1 now. I'll be seeing the outside world by mid to late summer. 😆
@larikarm7696 LOL you’ve got this!!!
Have never read fantasy but with all that, it scares me and seems like so much trouble to me
I would encourage you to look at fantasy books as more of an “escape” rather than “work.” It’s like how we watch movies or tv shows to “decompress.” I would highly recommend you read A Court of Thornes and Roses… it is fun, easy to read, and not super complicated where fantasy is involved. If it’s truly hard to get into, there’s always audiobooks! 💕
@@RubyJeanVlogsI bought that first book today of the acotar series so I will let you know what I think!!
I read 2 and a half or the acotar series and it just put me in a reading slump 😢 do you think either of these series would get me out?
Try Throne of Glass!
@@RubyJeanVlogs I will thank you!
Just started reading ACOTAR, and I am LOVING the world! Bookmarking this for my future reads - thank you!
I love getting lost in ACOTAR! It never looses its ability to transport you, no matter how many times you reread it 🤩
@@RubyJeanVlogs I can see why!! I’m SO glad I finally gave it a shot - her world building is incredible. Just about to start Wings & Ruin!
If you refuse to do the tandem read then at least read Tower of Dawn before Empire of Storms
I could get behind this 🤔
@@RubyJeanVlogs it's a good alternative! 😄
I am soooo glad I read the throne of glass in the order you suggested. It was an accident. I read the first 2 books and didn’t like the lead girl at all. Then I jumped to crescent city but it was too much. So I decided to come back and decided maybe I should get that assassin blade book….maybe I missed something. Now I love it. After reading in that order, I see why reading in that order is best
