Same! Throne of Glass is my fave! I gave the first book 3 stars but I wanted to keep going to find out what was going to happen. Gave the 2nd book 3.5 stars then Heir of Fire became my fave book, 5 stars for it and the rest. I guess I’m an oddball ☺️ I loved ACOTAR but not as much as ToG. Just finished house of earth and blood and loved it too!
I've read all of SJM's books multiple times but I definitely watched this whole video through the end, and now I really really really want to reread all of her books again 😭

I love her books, ACOMAF did so many good things on helping me recover from my trauma and that's why it's my 2nd favourite book of all time, but I will scream till I die that Manon and Elide would have got together if one of them was a guy based on her formula for getting couples together

I’ve seen so many comments that say they don’t like the ACOTAR series but I’m IN LOVE WITH ALL OF THEM! Every single book in that series. This video made me so happy, it seems like nowadays it’s “uncool” or dumb to love SJM and her books, but I just finished HoEaB and it just blew me away and reminded me just how much her books mean to me and how easy her writing is to get into, especially after struggling to get through a few other reads.

I started with the Throne of Glass series and I absolutely love these books! I am currently reading Empire of Storms. I have to say that I agree with your comment that getting through the first couple hundred pages is tough, but it does pick up and when it does I cannot put the books down. I plan on reading all her books eventually because I like the way she writes and I personally really enjoy her books. Thanks for this video, I have really only been able to find reviews about people who dislike her books so its nice to see someone else out there that loves them as much as I do.
I just started ACOTAR yesterday. I’m in love already. I’m listening to audiobook at the moment but already want to go back and read with this book physically.
I'm so glad you're loving it! I can't listen to any SJM audiobooks because I've already read them all physically and the audio narrators pronounce everybody's names differently than I do so it gets on my nerves :') I've heard they're pretty good though!
i watch so many videos of people hating on Sarah J Maas and her writing but I literally just can’t get behind them. SJM is undoubtedly my favorite author. I’ve loved every book she’s ever published and i think she has some of the best characters and world building in YA fantasy. Every time i finish one of her books i literally cannot pick up a different book, i have to go back and reread because i’m blown by how amazing her books are. I literally CANNOT WAIT for house of sky and breath.

So glad you loved ACOTAR!! I mean it really shows that people DON'T actually love fantasy when they criticise her use of "male" and "female" and don't realise those terms are used because her characters aren't human so they are not Men and Women :')
You have amazing timing! I have just started Throne of glass. I’m not sure what drew me to it but I knew it was where i wanted to start. I feel you on the serious stubbornness! I’m in until the end now 😂
I hope you love Throne of Glass! It's one of my favourite series of all time and it pays to be stubborn because when I got to the end, the characters had come so far and I was so proud of my babies
I started reading sarah’s books right before heir of fire was released and I was immediately hooked. I just finished crescent city yesterday and I am still reeling. Soooo good.
If I'm correct. I started reading SJM when the 2nd Throne of Glass book was out, or maybe it was about to come out. Can't be sure--anyhow, I've been in love with her books since then and pretty much the only books I buy full price on release. Most things I buy in clearance or used.
I know this video is 2 years old but it’s perfect timing for me to find! I’ve always read romance but I’m starting to get into Fantasy Romance. This video was very helpful, thank you!
ME: Hate ACOTAR, but trash for TOG MY BOOK BUDDY: Hate TOG, but trash for ACOTAR. Its sad that we both have one of our fave series ever by the same author, but cannot squeel together whatsoever.
Sorry this comment is so late, but I thought it was great like ToG x100. except with modern elements and they both have epic casts. There's also mystery, action, world building. Tbh, for me it was kind of insane, especially with that finale in book 1
I have also read every single one of her books and love them all!! Becca did a fabulous job of putting all my Sarah J. Maas feelings into a great video. Everything she said was so accurate! I definitely recommend this video for anyone new to SJM. This would have been extremely, helpful for me when I first became a huge fan of her writing! I just have to say one thing that I disagree with. I would personally read Assassin's Blade before reading the rest of Throne of Glass. It gives helpful information on the details leading up to her capture and context on what exactly happened. Also, you meet a few characters that are important throughout the rest of the series. I believe that it would provide the reader with a better sense of Celaena's background story. That being said, I agree with everything else Becca said and enjoyed this video immensely!
I just finished the ACOTAR trilogy and Mist and Fury just broke me in the best way possible. I do agree that people trash Sarah all over the internet which made me hesitant to begin her books. However, after finishing ACOTAR, I think I'll read House of Earth & Blood and maybe Throne of Glass!
First book of Sarah J Maas, I read was Cresent city..so hooked and impatient for the next! Worried about reading anymore as you said they go down hill!
i had never wanted to re read a book but after reading acotar till the last book available at the time (acofas) i wanted to re read the series again couldn't stop thinking about it was just living my regular day and then i'd think about how some of the characters would react to something that i saw lol she just has a way of writing emotions amidst all the action that i love
I know I’m only 13 turning 14 years old, but can you be my best friend? 😭 I’ve never met another person, or heard of another person who loves SJM, and her book series as much as I do....and I mean....im. in. love. ToG is my favorite series and Aelin and Rowan are the most amazing ship I’ve ever witnessed (in my opinion)
Oh gosh. I stumbled upon your channel because I really wanted to find a reason to push through with TOG. I'm on the second book and I'm really not feeling anything so far. I plunged into it because I loved ACOTAR so much especially ACOMAF. Your review just pushed me to read on TOG lol
katrin medina I just watched a video of someone hating on throne of glass and I was reading acotar for the third time and I just stopped reading it for a while cause I had so much self doubt on my reading choices
The fact that I don't even like SJM and still watched the entire thing is just a proof of how much I like you as a booktuber. I don't think I'll pick her books ever again but I love seeing you fangirl about her.
Thank you for the great round-up. Personally I have started with Throne of glass {liked it all, but obviously was more heavily hooked by the end of it}. Looking forward to reading her new book, glad to hear your promising words about it and all of them.
I loved Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight. 5/5 stars for both. CoM gave me a book hangover. lol HoF 4/5 stars. Didn't love it as much. Now I'm definitely going to continue the series. And I read A Court of Thorns and Roses but decided not to continue despite giving it 5/5 stars. I think because I liked one ship while so many people liked another. But don't know why that made me stop. Think I'll continue with this one too. And the Catwoman one and her latest. Let's read all the SJM books. lol I better get started. Thanks for the video!
I’m starting with Crescent City & I was sooo nervous because I don’t want you to rip out my eyeballs if I couldn’t get into it. 😂😂😂 I can honestly say that I’m loving it so far!💕 I’m glad you made this video tho because after Crescent City, I was not sure where start in terms of ACOTAR or Throne of Glass. I like romance in fantasy as long there are strong female characters as well which I see in Crescent City. I like reading about trauma (to a point) & mental health. I already feel pretty connected to Danika, so hopefully she stays true! Well, I love you, my dear! 🌹💕💕 I hope you’ve had a lovely day! ☺️✨✨ Happy Reading! 🤓📚✨
Hahahah I'd like to say I won't rip your eyeballs out if you don't like it but I can't promise anything :p There are definitely strong female characters in all of SJMs books! I hope you continue loving Crescent City Autumn!
Thanks so much I needed this video! I’m a little late in the game, but I am excited to catch up! I just read ACOTAR, ACOMAR, and ACOWAR and I LOVED them! 😍
I have been wanting to read one of her books for so long. This has really helped me decide where to start, thank you! A court of thorns and roses on my march TBR as of now! 🙂
i just recently started the court of thorns and roses series (my first sjm book) and I'm so excited to read the rest of her books! I really enjoy her style and characters! this just made me even more excited!!
I love everything about Sarah J. Maas and her books. I've read them all with exception of Cat Woman, but enjoyed the video! You did a great job with descriptions. ACOMAF is still my favorite but CC is a close second!
Thank you so much for this, I just finished reading A Court of Thorns and Roses series and I felt so empty, sad, and lost. The series was the best book series I have ever read, I nearly cried for an hour after finishing it. I am beginning to love Sarah J. Maas and her beautiful books, I am very excited to read Crescent City! And as always “to the stars who listen- and the dreams that are answered”, thank you 💖
Ironically, you've convinced me that I probably won't like her books and, if I do read them, the Throne of Glass series will be the best place for me to start. Which is actually really helpful - thanks for including all the information that you did!
I've read all of her books except for tower of dawn, Catwoman and house of earth and blood (though that just came in the mail today and I'm so hype to read it) I must be the only one that loved every single book in acotar and tog. I am total maas trash and have never disliked any of her books. shes by far my favourite author and I can't wait to start on crescent city today!
Freye and Rhys relationships is the first healthy relationship I ever read.. I've had so much truama in my life and carry shame and guilt around who I am and how deeply I felt unlovedable.. A court of mist and fury and court of wings and ruin tought me no matter what.. I'm worth loving.. Because everyone in her books you can see they are worth loving past their worth mistakes and that you can be mad at someone and still love them and be loveable.. For this I'll always deeply love her writing..
Started ACOTAR fairly recently because I’ve heard so much about SJM. So far so good, look forward to reading more, and this video was very informative!
Hi Becca, loved this video, came to the SJM world very late in the game. God the ToG series was just fantastic! I wasn't expecting how much I was going to love it.... I don't really get the whole hatred for her over the internet... SJM really makes you get so attached to her characters and you go on quite the emotional journey with them. I have started Cresent Citÿ before reading ACOTAR...its verrry different in tone to ToG due to it being set in the modern world but its quite interesting so far :)
Currently reading Crown of Midnight and Baba Yellowlegs character is intriguing. It would be an interesting story line to see who she was in the past and what led to her conversation with Dorian.
I just finished reading ACOTAR last night, OMG I loved it! And this is just after finishing The Cruel Prince series (which is also great!) Have just bought the second and can’t wait to start it!
This was actually pretty helpful. I read acotar a few years ago and didn’t like some things, but the world building was the thing that let me continue with it 😂 so I had been thinking of giving her books a second chance, and this really motivated me to do so!
I took your advice and started with a court of thorns and roses and....i loved it! It was a fun ride and i liked the fae world a lot. Thanks for the advice 😊
I've only read House of Earth and Blood but have the new one pre ordered. But today I found 6 of her older books at the thrift store. I must be meant to be.
I started on Throne of Glass and the 3rd book I literally scraped through. I was told by someone to just keep going and I’m so glad I have. I just finished book 5 and I’m so excited to read the next one. I love these characters so much.
I really liked throne of glass, I thought it was a really amazing series with a good plot and story arc but I really didn’t like a court of thorns and roses, I haven’t finished the series but I found the first one very slow and boring, it honestly seemed very much like a beauty and the beast rip off and continued to feel even more so that way at the big plot reveal of the book, “young woman is forced to move away from home and live at the e luxurious home of a man to pay off a debt, although she doesn’t know it she has to fall in love with him in order to break a curse put on him by an evil lady and has a certain amount of time to do so before all of the people in his land are stuck cursed forever”
I also love the Throne of Glass, but if you could just bear with the ACOTAR series it gets better I swear! SJM will do her magic! Just keep on reading :D
It felt like a ripoff because it actually is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. I believe the second one (Mist and Fury) is also a loose retelling of Hades and Persephone.
Lilah Harvey i 100% agree with you i felt those vibes the whole time reading that first book of acotar BUT the second book is so so, much better please keep reading! honestly the second book makes up for it
Acotar gets way better after the first book. You will be greatly rewarded if you keep going. I thought acotar was slow and dull up until the very end then I could not put the rest of the series down.
I started with throne of glass this year. Before that I didn't even know about it and I have to admit I almost put it down because I didn' like the second and third book. I absolutely loved the fourth one but the fifth was also a slow read for me and it took me ages to read it. Now I only have the last one left and I'm so happy I read it because I'm absolutely in love with all the characters and their development, especially Manon, Dorian and Lorcan. I'm so happy you said that this series isn't her strongest and I absolutely look forward to read her other books because of the stunning worlds with all the details she created!
I am trash for Maas as well, this coming from a 31-years old man. While I do get why some people wouldn't like her books, I don't understand the hate she gets. People sometimes. I started in 2015 with Throne Of Glass and am now doing a reread of the series as a whole. Kingdom Of Ash has to be my favourite, though. That book ripped me to shreds. While I liked the first two books, I started loving the series with Heir Of Fire the first time around. Now, though, knowing where she's going with the story, my love for Crown Of Midnight - the second half especially - started blooming. Throne Of Glass is nice, but rather a cookie cutter book. Tower Of Dawn was also a big yes for me. Perhaps not as engaging as what came before, but I wouldn't ever skip it. I have yet to read something by her outside Throne Of Glass, but I am looking forward to everything and everything.
About to pick of House of Earth and Blood tonight! I'm so excited because I love Sarah's writing and characters so much. Right now, Queen of Shadows is my favorite book, but I'm ready for it to be replaced.
I love this! I have only read the first Throne of Glass but I want to read more of her books. I had a hard time with Throne of Glass, but I want to keep on with the series and try more of her books.
Thank you so much for this thorough information. I felt like you were very fair and honest, which is what I really needed instead of someone going in hard one way or the other. I feel like I got balanced information and know where I should start with this author. Thanks again!
Oh awesome, I wasn't too sure if I should get Crescent City because I could't stand the TOG series but I LOVED A Court of Mist and Fury. (First book was meh and I'm pretending that last book doesn't exist it lol)
This was amazing! I was going to start with Throne of Glass, but was a little worried it was a bit too young for me. Now I’m definitely going to follow your plan of attack, leaving TOG till the end if I’m obsessed haha Thank you!
I wouldn't necessarily say that Throne of Glass reads young but it's definitely more solidly YA then any of her other books. I do think that it has a similar feel to a lot of early 2010s YA fantasy which can definitely put people off. I hope you love her books!
OMG I love Lorcan too 😍😍 I started with TOG and I loved all books I was just bored with the Maeve parts 😂. Tower of dawn was hard at first but Nesryn and Sartaq made me loved it 😊
You described the Throne of Glass series so perfectly! Readers either really like the first half, or the second half because it really switches from Young Adult to Adult (High) Fantasy. I love both, but do prefer the second half, especially Queen of Shadows. SJM is one of my favorite authors and I loved how much you fangirled over her because I could completely relate 100%. I am starting ACOTAR this month! Finally getting to the rest of her books :)
Ooooh I feel like loving Queen of Shadows is an unpopular opinion, a lot of people consider it very long and slow. I love it but I love all of them tbh haha. I couldn't help but take the opportunity of her releasing HOEAB to go hard with my fingerling tbh haha. I hope you love ACOTAR as much as the Throne of Glass series!
Just a quick tip, if you want the events of the first part of HoEaB to hit right, DO NOT read the synopsis on the back, it kind of spoils something that shouldn’t be spoiled, and I was so relieved that I didn’t read the synopsis until after the big event happened!
Thank you Becca, I read Acotar series 1 years ago. I was captured by characters. I can’t wait to read Crescent city ❤️ (sorry for my English but isn’t my native language)
I started on a throne of glass 2 years ago and collected the rest of the series because I loved them so much and then bought all the other books she’s written 😂
Just found your channel. This video helped me so much because I have been wanting to read Maas and didn’t know where to start. I’m buying A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSE asap! Great video - new subbie 😁
I started with the throne of glass series and I loved it. I think I read the whole series in a month and I’ve read it multiple times sense. The first 2 books are not my favorite but I still love them. The I read the court of thorn and roses series and I just fell in love all over again. Honestly I haven’t hated any of her books. Yes sometimes they can be a little slow but it’s so worth it in end. I’m glad to see someone else who loves her books as much as I do ❤️
I really love your videos, and I’m thankful that you were able to give some clarity on this. I read all the Acotar series first and fell in love with it entirely, it was amazing, the plot, the character development, the love story and themes, etc. I then started on TOG series and I’m a quarter of the way through crown of midnight. But as you said in this video, in comparison to the other series, I found the shift of tone difficult to adapt to, and I genuinely found it slower than her other series so it was difficult for me to get into it. I did like TOG, don’t get me wrong, once I gave it a bit of a chance, BUT not as much as ACOTAR, and it was the same for crown of midnight for me, I’m struggling with it, so I was going to switch to crescent city and come back to it. This has really helped me for making that decision as I wasn’t sure if it was the right one, so Thankyou for that!
Loved this video! I felt the exact same about the ACOTAR series; a lot of people hated ACOWAR but I didn't mind it! I have been a Sarah J Maas stan since I read ACOMAF and I cannot wait to read House of Earth and Blood!
THANK YOU so so much I’m new to SJM literally idk how I’ve never read her books because Romantic Fantasy is my favourite genre😭 thank you so much ❤️ also I’m a new sub because of this hehe
I haven't read the ToG series, but I have read and am obsessed with ACOTAR!!! Waiting for Crescent City in the mail. I'm ready to get into the ToG series and CC!! Thanks for this video, it is amazing!!
So I've read every book other than crescent moon which is about to be ordered and I love this video by the end of throne of glass I was Hooked for life 😭😭😭
I actually enjoyed all of TOG but will admit the last few books are the best I cried so hard with KOA. I agree with you she really is the Queen of character work

I loved them all too :)

Kingdom of Ash is one of the best finale books I have ever read so good.
I literally cried for 30 minutes after I finished it! It was so great

TBH, not a bad place to start ;) I hope you love the rest of her books
Out of all the booktubers I’ve watched about Sarah j maas’s books, you’re definitely my favourite.

Oh my goodness same!
I've not read any of her books. I want to start with cresent city as it honestly sounds more up my alley than the others!
It's new so maybe you'll wait awhile for the next books so I suggest giving the Throne of Glass a try :D
Sorry this comment is so late, but I thought it was great like ToG x100. except with modern elements and they both have epic casts. There's also mystery, action, world building. Tbh, for me it was kind of insane, especially with that finale in book 1
I love all of her books. Friends are such a main theme in all of her books and it’s thoroughly enjoyable to read about 💕
When you notice her nails and rings match Cresent City 😍
9:17 so happy to see someone else has empire of storms as their favorite of the series
that book was amazing
Worried about reading anymore as you said they go down hill!
i had never wanted to re read a book but after reading acotar till the last book available at the time (acofas) i wanted to re read the series again
couldn't stop thinking about it
was just living my regular day and then i'd think about how some of the characters would react to something that i saw lol
she just has a way of writing emotions amidst all the action that i love
Your review just pushed me to read on TOG lol
finally someone who really likes sjm books ❤️❤️❤️❤️
there is a lot of hate on the internet these days
katrin medina I just watched a video of someone hating on throne of glass and I was reading acotar for the third time and I just stopped reading it for a while cause I had so much self doubt on my reading choices
Thank you! Awesome information and now that I have finished ACOTAR series you have made me uber excited to read Crescent city!!!!
I'm hooked the thorns and Roses books just got me! I need more! Xx
I have been wanting to read one of her books for so long. This has really helped me decide where to start, thank you! A court of thorns and roses on my march TBR as of now! 🙂
I really hope you love ACOTAR!
start with Throne of Glass coz it's a completed series already :D
Camille Ignacio Im pretty sure a court of thorns and roses is a completed series
i just recently started the court of thorns and roses series (my first sjm book) and I'm so excited to read the rest of her books! I really enjoy her style and characters! this just made me even more excited!!
kate palmer Agreed!
I love everything about Sarah J. Maas and her books. I've read them all with exception of Cat Woman, but enjoyed the video! You did a great job with descriptions. ACOMAF is still my favorite but CC is a close second!
Great video, I’ve never read any SJM but I was thinking ACOTAR was a good starting point so I’m glad i was right there. Thanks!
You definitely were! I hope you enjoy her books
I’ve just started Court of Thorns & Roses 🌹 and already loving the style of writing! Can’t wait to dive into the rest of her work
Hi Becca, loved this video, came to the SJM world very late in the game.
This video came the perfect time as I've been wanting to read her books! This was very helpful, thank you! 😍
I hope you enjoy her books! I'm glad I could help
I wanted to read a Sarah J Maas book and didn’t know where to start. Thank you for making this video! Can’t wait to start!
Needed this video. Too big a category to tackle on my own!!
I wasn't interested in her work until cresent city became a thing and I LOVE this book sm
Thanks, very useful vlog! Love it!
Glad you found it helpful!
Oh you just wait, a court of mist and fury is something else entirely (in a good way)
It felt like a ripoff because it actually is a Beauty and the Beast retelling.
Nick V. Reys #MaasTrash for life.
Keep on reading! It gets better :D
Thank you so much for this thorough information. I felt like you were very fair and honest, which is what I really needed instead of someone going in hard one way or the other. I feel like I got balanced information and know where I should start with this author. Thanks again!
I too love SJM! I have read and reread all of her books at least 6 times each!
Did I, who has read every single Sarah J Maas book, just watch a 20 minute video explaining Sarah's books? Why, yes. Yes, I did.
i am on Heir of fire...throne of glass is my first book of sarah J maas and I LOVE HER. I love this world so much!
OMG I love Lorcan too 😍😍 I started with TOG and I loved all books I was just bored with the Maeve parts 😂. Tower of dawn was hard at first but Nesryn and Sartaq made me loved it 😊
I wasn't sure what to start with and then I watched this video. I'm currently reading ACOTAR and I'm loving it.
i love all maas books they have some magic , like a lot :D
just read all of TOG series in 9 days. guess im buying the rest of her books!
I loved the whole TOG series and as well as the ACOTAR series ... It's just naturally good , sjm is the Fae Queen duh
Hope you love her like I do. Thanks for subbing
I’m glad to see someone else who loves her books as much as I do ❤️
Read all of Acotar, currently crescent city, looks like I’ll be reading throne of glass next!
Crown of midnight is the best in the series
I haven't read the ToG series, but I have read and am obsessed with ACOTAR!!! Waiting for Crescent City in the mail. I'm ready to get into the ToG series and CC!! Thanks for this video, it is amazing!!
I hope you love Crescent City when it arrives and that you love ToG when you finally get to it :p I'm glad you liked the video!
I loooove, loooove her books and this video is great!!!❣️💯😆♥️
You are like my fav human being
So I've read every book other than crescent moon which is about to be ordered and I love this video by the end of throne of glass I was Hooked for life 😭😭😭
I actually enjoyed all of TOG but will admit the last few books are the best I cried so hard with KOA. I agree with you she really is the Queen of character work
Thank you!! I have ACOTAR and didnt know if I should start there. :)
I just got Crown Of Midnight in the mail and I'm so excited
