Thanks for doing this! I'm reading ACOTAR for the first time this month and I'm so happy to get not spoiled reviews ❤

One thing I really dislike is people trying to make everything mean something, to represent people or things that have happened in the past. Sometimes that’s true but what happened to a book just being a book? A story that’s just that, a story? I love Bryce & Nesta, I also really enjoyed this book for the story it was.

Personally I liked that there was less sex and more plot. I also thought the relationships development was good.
    I also love Bryce’s character,bi*#hy and sarcastic.

Read Throne of Glass series and liked it a lot. Had no desire to read ACOTAR. But, Crescent City sounds so good. I do like cozy elements.

Personally, 3 sex scenes feels adequate to me if I'm looking for some steam (I realize its a long book)? I have read other books that people described as very steamy and there was 1 scene in the entire book...but that's just me. To each their own!

I wonder if the broadly tepid reactions to HOFAS and Iron Flame will be the beginning of romantasy’s end as a huge juggernaut. It’s like people are suddenly feeling that the parameters of the genre are too limiting for so many huuuuuuge books to feel different enough.

I’m kind of doubtful. I think Iron Flame was really poorly written and edited. HOFAS on the other hand is trying to do something that isn’t what a lot of romantasy readers are looking for-more world building and plot, less sex. I don’t think those two books are really very similar aside from subgenre. But I do think we’re seeing that you need to take more time developing the books.

Considering the sheer amount of hostility my friend got for posting that she's returning the book unred because she didnt know about the multiverse and isn't interested in the other books at the moment, I kinda doubt theres any turning point coming soon.

Oh wow! Yeah it's a lot to dive into if you were unaware and it tracks that not everyone will be into that. Sorry that happened to her.

@@BeautifullyBookishBethanyhonestly, its kind of wild. We share a booksta so I'm seeing all the comments and my favorites have been "if you dont like it, just dont read it!" Like ya, that's why she's returning it.
It is an immense undertaking to catch up even just on the ACOTAR series if she wanted to. I have fomo so I just watch everyone else's deep dives lol.

@@TiffReadsBooks Ugh that’s so awful. I was going to do a lolzy Throne of Glass series buddy read with some friends…I started Assassin’s Blade and I thought the writing was surprisingly decent, but I simply don’t have time to donate 7-10 hours each to eight books that I don’t zomg love.
