The Disco 4 is an absolute beast. We’ve had a 2, but skipped the 3 for obvious reasons. Glad you enjoy the vlogs, but not sure where you thought Mrs Slaw was bossy in this vlog? She is usually, but not following you here??
Hi Mr & Mrs slaw just want to say thank you for your brilliant travel videos I am an ex army veteran living in Bristol cannot drive anymore because of disability I had a caravan and used to travel around the UK with my little westie unfortunately I have lost him now after 15 years so watching your videos reminds me of good times.best wishes to you all 🙊
Great little vid, thank you for taking us out in the lovely snow. You've made me miss our Landy even more now lol, ours was sacrificed to get our camper :-( Definitely going to seek out the Carding Shed for a brew and grub come the better weather. 🙂
Thanks Pamela! We need the Landrover to get us out and about in the winter being so high in the Pennines. You must visit The Carding Shed! Their cakes are amazing! 🤩
Great little video - thank you. I bought my D4 about 18-months ago, one of the last ones they made before the D5 came out 9which I don't like). Great in winter with the electric windshield for a fast defrost and heated seats and steering wheel to keep you warm. Tyres are difficilt, though - I want all terrain, all season with the 3-peak snow symbol and only Yokohama do these in the 255/50/R20 that my D4 needs. BUT - I have heard that General Grabber will be launching a tyre with this spec. this year and a guy in the know tells me it will be excellent. I need to change tyres soon as, although the tread depth is good, they are still the 2016 tyres that the vehicle was deliverd with when new.
New subscriber, new to the channel , Awesome video and white landscape.I am considering changing this year Falken wildpeak with BF trail terrain on my Vitara 2016 . I hope they will perform well on every type of surface . Cheers!
Having spent a number of hours driving from Victoria to South Australia I now have time to sit back and watch Slaw’s latest. I was rather hoping, following the last VLOG, that Slaw was going to talk us through the latest e-bike fitted with a snow plough and extol the virtues and pushing capacity and depth of snow that the bike was capable of clearing. But it wasn’t to be! Just glad that you don’t live in Germany as you failed to clear the pavement and drive in front of your house by 0700; possible fine in coming! Good tip about the tyre pressure, whilst in the Middle East we used to go down as far as 15 PSI as soon as we drove onto soft sand. Just hope that you remembered to inflate to the correct pressure when you got home. Great little impromptu VLOG, much enjoyed from the sunny margins!
Thanks Neil! That would have been a fun vlog with the bike 🤪 Wow! No we didn’t clear the front on Sunday, that’s Mrs Slaw’s job today to get her car out for tomorrow as it won’t go over snow like the Disco 😜
Great vlog guys we very rearly get snow in Portsmouth not only that weve been to holmfirth and loved it there (in the summer) it looked beautiful I have a Nissan navara pick up 4x4 and would love snow to try it out lol me and Mrs G would do exactly the same as you 2 go out and drive in it lol so for now take care the gowerz Portsmouth xx ❤❤
Great Video :) My wife and I really loved it. We love it when Mrs Slaw gets angry with you, her face is a picture haha. Can you sort a discussion we often have together ?. I keep telling her I think you said your a plumber , and The Mrs thinks Mrs Slaw is an interpreter, now i say Mrs Slaw has to be a manager of some description :) Are we barking up the wrong tree here haha. Keep up the great work guys we love your Vlogs. xx
Great vid, thanks for sharing. What tyres do you have on it? I drive my Mk3 L322 Range Rover Vogue around the Alps in winter, on Continental TS850 "Winter Contact" tyres, it tackles hilly snow covered roads with ease. I still carry chains but never seem to need them any more. I used to use Pirelli Scorpion all-season tyres all year round but they were less effective on snow than dedicated winter tyres (I think all season tyres have improved a lot since then.) Were you using the HDC on those snowy descents?
Hi. I ran the scorpions but they didn’t feel that good in the snow so I changed to BF Goodrich Trail Terrain and have never looked back. What a great all round tyre 👍
Disco looked good on snow, what tyres is it on ? A friend live in a remote part of the Peak District says his Yaris on winter tyres is much better on snow than his 4wd Touareg on summer tyres
I'd love to do that ❤ I'm a southern softie, now driving my 4th Nissan navara pickup and never once switched from 2 wheel to 4 wheel, we just don't get the weather 😂
When I was in the market for a D4 (after having a D2) I was advised to get one that had been serviced by Landrover so had the right oils etc. I bought this one seven years ago with full Landrover service history and have had yearly Landrover specialist services. I’ve found it very reliable!
I live in the states where upstate New York got 75 inches of snow this past weekend!! Dates I think Jan.4th or5th!!!! We got three inches here in South West Virginia!!
@@TheSlawsAdventures - I was a bit surprised to see Anne doing what might have been a "blue" job. Or, does shovelling give her muscles to belt you up if you are cheeky?
What tyres are you using, when I go skiing to the Alps, I try and reserve a car with winter tyres, a Fiat Panda copes really well, and knowing how to drive in snow of course.😎
Not far from my area. I went on similar snow covered roads and also didn't get stuck, yet I was in 2wd 100bhp Yaris fitted with all season tyres. That is all that is needed in a couple of inches of snow.
😂 Funnily enough, I trained as a mechanic in the 80’s! However, had this Disco now for nearly 8 years with no problems. Had a D2 before but skipped the D3 for obvious reasons 👍🏻
Had a Disco 4 for years , changed it for a Duster 4x4 , BFG All terrains on it , runs rings round the D4 , £180 per year tax , 50 mpg , cheaper insurance and no worries about snapped crankshafts , no brainer 👍
Hi As always an entertaining video but are you buying the discovery or it is already yours? We had 3 in succession and all had automatic gearbox problems. At least you were driving it the way it should be done not just going to Tesco(or other supermarkets)
Loved this video and well done for supporting your local businesses and community this keeps them in work and without you supporting them on days like this they would close down - well done to the cafe for opening lots they need supporting ❤ definitely 💯 coming to try this cafe out the breakfast looked excellent 😋
Great fun. Tyres should Not be deflated for snow (they should be inflated to reduce the surface area of the tyre to the road which increases the contact pressure and grip). Deflate tyres for mud and sand.
Going to have to disagree with you there barry. when you lower the pressure you create a greater surface area in contact with the ground therefore increasing grip in snow as well.
Thanks Pamela! Mrs Slaw’s car has been cleared today ready for a work trip tomorrow, finger’s crossed it’s cleared a bit more by Friday so we can get Helga out! 🤞🏻
Sorry both it's me ,in one shot it shows the font of helga which is partly covered in snow I took this for the land rover ,so sorry can you put it down to my age ? (I'm old now)
Hope you realy did have a nice day out I have the same landrover but mine has the same number plate in the front as in the back, did you do this on purpose or haven't you noticed is it 54 or 55😂😂😂❤❤❤
@TheSlawsAdventures in one shot the number plates went from a 54 plate to 55 plate I have checked because I thought it was me?it does happen when plates are made up,unless Mr slaw is a ram raider?🤣🤣🤣

Not this one Carl. We had a D2 for about 6 years. Solid as. Then got the D4. Skipped D3’s for obvious reasons 😜 We’ve had the D4 for nearly 7 years now and it’s been a reliable workhorse. Well, that’s it! I’ve said it now 😂
@TheSlawsAdventures quick do the lottery before your luck runs out.we have had range rovers and Land rovers for years not a day without a light on but we keep buying them
I am really disappointed in how silly you have been taking a totally unnecessary journey out for a breakfast in those conditions just to make a video and show off your cars ability, what if you had an accident???? Expected better from you both
Sorry to disappoint you Pauline, but this is just normal life in the hills of Yorkshire in winter. We didn’t film going shopping or visiting elderly relatives, but do these journeys regularly. I’m disappointed that you find our rural life ‘silly’. If we didn’t drive in snow for fear of an accident, we couldn’t work or survive!
Pauline, I’ve lived in this area for a number of years and quite frankly this is literally a normal journey. As you can see, the cafe (Oil Can Cafe) was open and they expect people to turn up, and the LR4 with those tyres on is an incredibly capable vehicle. Your comment feels very patronising and, quite frankly, a bit out of touch with the reality of what living in Holmfirth and the surrounding area is like
There’s a tool for every job, and the disco is certainly up there with the best in these conditions, great vlog .
I have owned two Discoveries and it is an excellent suv but like every other vehicle it is absolutely useless on black ice!
Yep ive had 2 disco's too and they still slide on black ice unless you have studded tyres which I haven't 😂
Great Machine is D4 !!
She looks Well !
Thank you!
Loved this, thank you, be happy take care. ❤
Thanks Gary! We had great fun filming it for you 👍🏻
All that snow....and a beautiful vehicle to play in it☃️. loved this extra vlog ❤
Thanks Peta! We had a great morning filming for you ❤️
Great video! Exactly how it should be done... Perfect car and sensible driving to enjoy the weather. Lovely discovery as well I'd love one
Thank you! It’s Slaw’s everyday vehicle and we get snow regularly in our neck of the woods 👍🏻
What a beautiful part of the country. Thanks for sharing the snow and Looking forward to your summer expeditions on here. . Stay safe 😊

You lucky people getting that lovely layer of snow. We rarely get snow down south in Essex and I own a Subaru… how frustrating 😡
We live in Yorkshire like the Slaws and own a Subaru. Brilliant motor. We’ve had a few over the years.

Thanks for watching and commenting Stephen! 👍🏻

Good wee video in the snow 👍 Have the same Discovery in blue. What tyres are you running?
Exactly what I was wondering

They are BF Goodrich Trail Terrain Tyres. A great all season tyre👍🏻

Hi.
They are BF Goodrich Trail Terrain Tyres. A great all season tyre👍🏻

Hi what tyres you running please
All terrain BF Goodrich
Thank you for the ride. Of course, here, the snow is 9 inches deep with sleet mixed in. Can I borrow the Landrover?
You could if it wasn’t my work van 😂
Are they all season tyres?
All terrain BF Goodrich
I’ve considered getting one of these for a while but my reservation has always been reliability. Do you have any advice?

Is that much snow usual for Yorkshire? It doesn't snow in tropical Queensland (Australia). How long will the snow season last in Yorkshire?
I live in the states where upstate New York got 75 inches of snow this past weekend!! Dates I think Jan.4th or5th!!!! We got three inches here in South West Virginia!!
There's no snow season in Yorkshire, it just snow occasionally during the winter
Yes, it’s usual and sometimes we get more too. Because we’re so high up in the Pennines we can get snow frequently. We’ve even had it June before 👍🏻

They certainly do graham as there is more contact with the road as they are softer. Ive done both and absolutely better with lower pressure 👍🏻
