Jessica, it is true that I could have just bought a new one, but I fixed the broken one in no time and for 1/4 the price. That's good cost benefit return right there. It also seems that lots of folks appreciated this info. On the other hand, you watched a video you apparently didn't like...and even took the time to comment on it... Of the two of us, I seem to be using my time more wisely. I will continue to try to help others and you can continue to watch, and comment on videos you don't find useful. 😀
Thank you so much for this quick, easy and great fix!! Already had the gorilla glue and washers, paid $2 for a couple of clamps, even though on a Durango the piece is more square, and it is fixed. Much cheaper than buying a replacement piece for $70!!
I did try it this way and for me it only lasted a year before it broke again. It was fine until i forgot about it one day getting into the truck and pulled on it too hard snap there it went. I will try the brass hose fitting method next to see how long that works for.
@@butterbeanq actually it has been so long i have forgoten how i fixed it. It strikes me that i used the fitting but i also did something extra, i just dont remember.
I did not know this about gorilla glue either until last year for some reason i decided to read the bottle and it was right there on the bottle, water activated :)
Mine just broke but the very top broke off completely like a 1/4 inch from the top piece like a disc, do you think I will be able to fix it the same as you did? just putting the top back on with gorilla glue and a clamp?
David, it doesn't sound like you'll be able to fix it with this method. You may have to come up with a "cap" that will slide over the plastic piece that broke and secure that. This handle design sucks and I am disappointed that something that is supposed to hold a man's weight is so weakly designed!
I know dude what you mean, I cant believe they would make something so cheap , I did it any way and it seems to be holding up ok, it is a little loose though but not much very little but . if you notice it does not go back tight against the frame as if you look over at the passenger side one looks all snug against the frame but it will do for now, I used JB weld , the hose clamp and a small washer on top of the cylinder.
+Theresa Lange ... hm.... no idea. Mine was a simple bolt that came right out. I can't remember the size, but I have a standard US as well as metric socket set and one of them fit. Sorry, I never thought to note which size it was. Theresa, are both bolts spinning? If so, you should be able to give it a hard pull and have the plastic piece come off. To me, a spinning bolt head (provided you have a socket that fits) is a sign that either the bolt is free of the hole or it has broken off inside. Either way should mean it's free to pull off.
+TheHornedlizardman1, I went on to repair the driver's side per your video with excellent results. The passenger side after ripping the plastic pillar piece off, it's ok I fixed it;) the nut was no longer holding in the pillar allowing the bolt to spin. truck is currently in the shop for another issue and their going to look at it.
Man, people like this kill me. For the time you spent fixing this (and it may not last....glueing a washer to the end doesn't strike me as a good fix), you could have bought a new handle for $41.00 at amazon. My original lasted 14 years...how long will a "repaired" one last? Not sure what you make an hour, but you could have saved more money/time working a little longer and buying a new handle.

Well you burned Jessica with this comment. Good video by the way, thanks for the advice
My grab handle just broke yesterday on 06 Dodge. This was SO helpful. Thank you
Had same issue. Repaired mine the same exact way. Good as new. Thanks for sharing!!

Glad I watched this before I hit the "Complete Order" button on a $55 OEM part. Thank you.
Great, explanation. No fluff. A video made by a man's man - not looking to get clicks & likes. Just looking to share practical knowledge
My Challenger pillar trim fell out and it doesn't have a handle! Thanks for the video.
Can you apply your weight to the grab handle after you fixed it?
This worked great! Saved so much money
I don't have the handles anymore to my truck so I have to get replacement parts, but could I do this to reinforce it 🤔🤔🤔

How did the brass hose fitting method work 4 years later?
@Dave L.?

Thank you. Gonna try this to mine. Just broke yesterday
How did it work out for you?
What size socket
I have water leaking though mine when it rains hard .Any idea what to do?I dont have cab lights on top and no sun roof.
Looks like this might work ... in your case
But what if the whole end breaks clean off, leaving a straight tube and nothing left to glue to ?
If the entire end has come off then you can do a similar repair that is described in this video: ruclips.net/video/VZUbMgdHbyk/видео.html
Excellent video.. How did you find out that water activates Gorilla Glue
I did not know this about gorilla glue either until last year for some reason i decided to read the bottle and it was right there on the bottle, water activated :)
Not going to lie this is kinda genius
Fantastic!!!! Thanks for the video. This is why I love RUclips
I cannot get that bolt out? What size socket is it?

Just did this to mine thank u so much
was that a 10mm socket? i have tge exact same model truck.
Force Creator I honestly don't remember. Sorry.
@@johndavis8924 thats ok..10mm. :)
my bolt won't come out. The nut that's in the body just spins ...any ideas how to get a hold of it to stop it from spinning?

if you have a welder; simply tack weld the nut to the apillar if your able to do so. no more spinning nut.
10mm?
Thanks.... going to fix mine right now
How did it work out for you?
Great video thanks for the tip
Thank you. this was helpful.
Wish I’d seen this before I bought a brand new one.
Or you could just pay $40 for a new part.
It's called an oh shit handle
Fml I came for the socket size lmao wtf
