You’re very fortunate, because I’m also diagnosed with prostate cancer they will not perform the PAE procedure, or any other kind of procedure because of having prostate cancer. I’m 75 years old, I’m not about to have my prostate chopped out and screw up what sexual activities I’m still able to have. Hell of a way to end my golden years.

As a board-certified Urologist I would advise that anyone considering this procedure be evaluated by a urologist with a cystoscopy first. PAE is performed by Interventional Radiologists who have no part in the pre-treatment or post-treatment care of these patients. The American Urological Association Guidelines only support PAE as an option for management of BPH with Grade C evidence. Be aware that any complications from this procedure will need to be managed by a urologist, so discuss with your urologist about whether it is right for you before pursuing PAE.

      @@rolendo4075 There are many reasons.
I had a rough time of it on the procedure. Threw up big time in recovery despite fasting. Constipated for 7 days. Heavy blood in the urine for 3-4 days during recovery. The pain was horrible, felt Like I had sat on a burning marshmallow. Then I had damage to the penis just to add insult to injury. Urine flow did improve but that lasted only about 2 years then I was back on the meds. Wondering where all those little beads go? Me too, as I have since had coronary blockages requiring two stents. One was a widowmaker and 6 months later another one in another artery. Now a subsequent prostate MRI is showing a 6mm lesion in the prostate that may or may not be cancer. No sign of any of this leasion before the procedure. Maybe it is just scar tissue? I have to wait and retest for growth and perhaps do a biopsy to find out. Meanwhile, I have had chronic pain in the area, get up twice a night, and experience periodic prostatitis which is more than a pain in the butt.. Are those enough reasons for you guys?. I am sure many have a better experience than this, but I would not do it again or wish it on anyone. To me, this is voodoo medicine.

The most serious risks associated with PAE, although rare, can include:
    1. **Severe Infection**: If an infection occurs and is not promptly treated, it can become severe and potentially life-threatening.
    2. *Severe Non-Target Embolization*: If embolic particles unintentionally block blood flow to other critical organs or tissues, it could lead to severe complications.
    3. *Major Bleeding*: Though uncommon, there is a risk of significant bleeding either during or after the procedure.

    PAE sounds OK, BUT...
What if the doctor misses prostate arteries and blocks something else, like the blood supply to the bladder, kidneys, stomach, liver, etc. Even if he hits the right artery, what will keep the blocking material in place? What if the blocking material dislodges and travels into the heart or the brain?

Thnx for urologist's advice.! As told in this video, the methods used to enlarge the flow of urine have risks. Although not a doc myself, for those reasons withdraw from using those methods. With chosen med treatment the problem has been taken in control. But not improvef much. But not either worsened. So... be careful when choosing the treatment. 60% or more or men face this 'desease' after become 60 yrs old. For men like us cant be avoided. The prostata cencer is the true risk, not enlargement. That can be treated, IF found out early enough.
So better check your prostata status every second year, by urologist. 👍

Good afternoon, in my ignorance in this field, just a thought, " could cutting of the blood supply to the prostate using these ball blocks, create dead tissue with the prostate?" If so could this lead to a higher count in white blood cells to counter act an hypothetical necrosis? I was also thinking instead of staples insertion along the walls of the prostate, or blocking the blood supply, it came to mind a procedure used in cardiology, where they use a kind of long sleave inserted with a special sonda, which onced opened keeps the artery open . What do you think, could it be feasible? Kind regards

The problem is that it does not last. I hear 5 years but not sure if that’s the max and you start seeing signs much sooner. I have a pubic Supra tube for ten months now . I’m trying to figure out the least invasive that will reduce my very large 200 cc size prostate. I was going to do this one but Medicaid will not cover . My doctor does not take Medicaid for that other water procedure and rezum won’t work for a prostate this large. It might help but not significantly. With the subject procedure you get a 30% decrease . 30% of 200 is still a large prostate but it’s the lease invasive and I can’t live with 30% decrease as I have done before for many years. I have been going through this for ten years now so I pretty much been through it all.

What happens to the blood coming into these arteries but cannot empty into the prostate. If I turn my garden hose on, but block it from squirting out, the water will build up inside the hose and squirt out from where the hose was tightened at the base of the house, or at some other weak area.

I know nothing of this procedure, but reducing blood supply to anything, on the face of it, sounds like recipe for disaster. Surely for the prostate to shrink you need to have dead cells, apoptosis, but how can you be so sure those will get "cleaned out" if the blood flow is restricted.

Hi bro, I am in Perth, Western Australia. I am 74. I did 2 times this PAE in the Fiona Stanley Hospital. It is a good procedure and it really helped me a lot. My first PAE was 7 years ago,3 years later I had my second one. I have a gigantic Enlarged Prostate ... but it really helped ...fact is that in the passing of time the Prostate has grown again and since the CV19 scam the Hospital here DOES NOT SEE UROLOGY PATIENTS IN PERSON! Only Telephone appointments which I had to wait ages to receive a call from the Urologist and it seems they do not do the PAE anymore! The Uro doc I finally spoke with on the phone 2 months ago for a short call, not more than 20 minutes, was trying to push the Private Green Light procedure which I wouldn't do. I am really disappointed with the system. I am an Age Pensioner and cannot afford any operation in the Private sector...I can testify that the PAE is really good and no side effects and easily done...but as said, something has happened to our Health System I cannot even talk with a URO in the Hospital face to face, which is a real shame! I hope you can do it. I do not know where in Australia you live, but 7 years ago I found out that in Sydney at the Liverpool Hospital and it was covered by Medicare. In both cases I had not out of pocket expenses. I will continue to press trying to have it again, in my opinion is the best and safest procedure. Regards mate!

The procedure is brutally painful. The following bladder spasms are painful. The steam injected is excruciating . Then you are miserable for 4 weeks as your body deals with the dead tissue in the prostate. My new urologist stopped performing Rezum due to poor patient outcomes. PLUS you will need additional procedures in 2-3 years. Mine failed within 2 months. No improvement in symptoms. Read comments from others that had the Rezum. Never again.@@burns985

ITS BASICALLY STEAM COOKING YOUR PROSTATE. BURNING ITAND THEN THE FUN COMES EACH TIME WARM URINE GOES THROUGH YOUR BURNED PROSTATE. IT WIL ALSO INITIALLY SWELL UP YOUR PROSTATE MAKING THINGS WORSE. YOUR SPINXTURE MUSCLE CAN ALSO BECOME PERMINENTLY DAMAGED REQUIRING ADDITIONAL SURGERY TO OPEN IT BY CUTING SLITS IN IT. THE WILL NEED TO BE REPEATED EVERY 3 OR 4 MONTHS. @@burns985
