Have you ever wondered what happens to your bank account once you hit the gas pedal? Buckle up, because today I’ll reveal how much sports and supercars loose per 1000 miles driven, which cars are the best buys, and which ones you should avoid if you care about values.
Here are the high level conclusions:
- If you care about the value of your car. It is smart to avoid the cars that are younger than two years.
- The newer the car, the more important the specific model is if you care about values. We saw in the 0-2 category that there are cars that lose very little when you add mileage, but also that there are cars that suffer monstrous losses.
- Be aware that an old car does not per definition imply a low loss per 1000 miles. As we saw, there is a turning point. Old cars can be become collectables, and these typically have a high loss per 1000 miles.

Please check on the Bentley Bentayga. Looking to pick up one in Jan
Great video as always. As far as I am concerned, IF I had one of those I would just drive them! That is why they are built. I invest elsewhere, I would have fun in my car.
Totally agree, people always come to me talking about "investing into cars" 😅, since I am owning a 911 Turbo, I always tell them that my car is here for enjoyment purpose, sure I bought it wishing I am going to loose as little as possible, but my investment money is into real estate and stocks...
@@vincentschneuwly9783 Indeed,I have the 2022 911 GT3 on my mind and i want be able to buy it until 2031.Until then i will just continue enjoying my 2016 white maserati granturismo Mc Centennial.
Excellent research and great econometric analyses. You've helped me decide to go with my Macan Turbo!
You, sir, are a legend. Such a niche'd out channel but so much value in your content!
Awesome content Sir. I really appreciate your methodology, content and presentation. Thank you for the hard work!
Love you use the same data to find mileage insensitive cars (cars that we can actually drive and bond with). I avoided stuff like the speciale coz while it appreciates if not driven, once driven it depreciates quick so that’s why I have Italia and other drivers. These videos are slowly evolving to be more in depth, awesome!
Once again, excellent and illuminating coverage of this topic.
You do good work sir!
Very interesting. Great job as always!
Great analysis! Thanks as always! Do you have data on California Ts by chance?
Thanks for the great content. Every supercar owner should subscribe to your channel!
WOW Great video and very informative
How about Porsche 992 GT3 and GT3 Touring?
Great content, thanks 😊
I'm looking for a 458 what might the depreciation and graph look like for a 2012 to 2015 Ferrari 458
EXCELLANT video as usual! Could you do your analysis on a 2016 Lamborghini Aventador roadster LP 700-4 and a 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo coupe please? THANKS!!
Yayyyy I influenced this video. Amazing job thank you
Love your channel. Any chance we could get an updated Huracan video? Very interested in the lp610-4
I planned for a new Huracan video but not so much happened in that market since the last update.
Great video. Any thoughts on the Shelby Speedster?
Excellent analysis!
Really interesting video. I have a 2016 California T that has done 22000 miles. I would be interested to understand what the depreciation per 100 miles would be on this model and age. Many thanks
Thank you @fourwheeltrader! How's the gt2rs or 720s? is there any plan to make the data available as a excel file, web app,or jupiter notebook ? Would love to further explore it.
GT2 RS: -0.85% 720S: -0.95%. Yes, I am working to make it available but it is still going to take a moment.
Thank you! No problem, will be patiently waiting :)@@fourwheeltrader
Excellent information! Would be cool if you tallied the lowest long term depreciation by manufacturer. Does Porsche or Ferrari win?
Honestly, I have not watched this yet. But I totally love the thumbnail!
Thanks! Making the thumbnail is maybe the hardest part 😅
Also, is this data in addition to the general depreciation or something that gets factored into the total depreciation?
Any analysis on the new generation F type? I see you have captured the last generation v8 pricing, super curious about p380 / V6 prices across both gens, and what the new gen f types look like
This is the latest update on the F-Type market: ruclips.net/video/I-2-PhteIuw/видео.htmlsi=bcn_LTCFPqrdadPB
Great video! Could you run the depreciation numbers for 2016 AMG GTs?
I am nore sure that there are 2016 AMGts? In any case, the AMG GTs sit at -0.75%
great vid thanks
Im in the marker for a Murcielago. Can you do a video on that please?
Great video
Can you give me some details for the 718 Spyder?
Good video!
What is the mileage depreciation rate for a 991.2 GT2RS?
Thank you.
Would you explain the high depretiation of the new Mercedes AMG SL?
I do not have any data for the SL, but GTs typically depreciate quickly.
You mentioned the Evora base, but I was wondering where the Evora GT is for depreciation. It seems like it has seen some high depreciation but maybe it's in line with the average curve? Or maybe I just got lucky with how much I paid for mine.
Evora GT values have been relatively stable during last year but came down a bit from the msrp. The mileage sensitivty is currently -0.7% per 1000 miles.
Glad to see someone not ignoring the insane total cost of buying these new, marked-up super cars. With an occasional exception (not one you want turn into an "investing strategy") they follow the same realities of every other car, only with a much higher price of willfully ignoring reality. "Want to know why you're poor? Look in the driveway!" - Dave Ramsey :)
Put 16k miles on my viper and it’s increased between 60-80% of what I paid for it four years ago. I’d call that a huge win
Do it again...
991.2 c2 and c2s please
yo, just found your channel... This is how data is presented. i have been super impressed
Thanks, welcome to the channel.
What about a 2012 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Manuel?
funny at @1:59 the curve looks porsche profile like.
Any thoughts on the first year model change on the M4 comp
Approximately 12k value decrease.
@fourwheeltrader my current m4 is a lease i put down 13 k you think at end I should give it back to bmw or keep it don't get me wrong I love the car it's amazing but a 911 gt3 is a perfect fit for me
Please give feedback for a Lamborghini Huracan 2015 LP610-4 with 25k miles
Soooo, January 2026 is when I should buy the Lotus Emira I really want? Got it! I can happily drive my GR86 until then, and apparently it won’t lose a ton of value either.
Are we heading for another 2008 event ?
Needed the 458 iailia
-0.8% For the coupe and -1.1% for the spiders.
I don’t know but never thought of a car as an investment unless you are buying some older collector car . It should be generally bought to enjoy it .
Great presentation! I enjoy them all. Wondering what the Ferrari 488 Spider depreciation curve looks like.
-1.1% per 1000 miles. Over here you can check the value development: ruclips.net/video/KoRxS4AOhgU/видео.htmlsi=3rT6iB723Ckoozwg
Thank you!@@fourwheeltrader
718 GT4 & GT4RS data would be great!
718 GT4: -0.7% GT4RS: -5% but the uncertainty in this estimate is high as all cars have a low mileage.
Great vid but not very applicable to myself as I've put 15K miles in 15 months on my Huracan 😅
what about 2018 amg gtr
Curious to know the % for a 991.1 GT3RS
Approximately -0.79%. It is quite a predictable curve.
Does this apply to the EU market too?
No, only to the US market. I saw that there are some differences between the US and EU market so the latter one is excluded.
I’m curious where the BMW G15 M8 and M850i fall within your analysis
Unfortunately i do not have any data for those cars.
I’ve ordered a ‘24 Porsche 992 Turbo S Cab. because I wanted a reliable sports car that won’t lose too much value and plan to put an average of 8-10k miles/year - im selling my 720s as that car is great but too exotic.
Your 720 how much you asking I'm interested here is usa
@@davidtyra1441 sorry sold to we buy exotics
Or Ferrari 296 GTB and GTS?
Depends on your reason for purchase. Summary. "Trade Miles for Smiles"
2020 Mustang GT500
Not entirely sure what the impact is when we make conclusions while ignoring spec level. On that 765LT example, I don't think there is a counterargument to the stats - if 1,000 mile and 6,000 mile cars go for the same price, then the counterargument would have to be "Better spec cars are driven more" and that is purely illogical because better spec cars are typically the ones getting garage-queened, nobody is garage-queening a base/low spec. I try to approach your videos in more non-standard fashion, gets me to think more about the market.
The spec level, potentially, really distorts the numbers. For example, if you have many high spec cars with a low mileage and many low spec cars with a high mileage, the depreciation per mile will be overstated. I corrected for this to a large extent, but there will always be a slight error in the estimated rate. Nevertheless, high spec cars typically lose a lot of their option premium if they get driven a lot.
DRIVE YOUR CAR..!!! Enjoy your car.
A car is the worst investment. It also depends on what you buy as well but if you want to enjoy your going to lose money.
Nissan GTR please
Unfortunately i do not have data for that car.
Miles not true to estimates price some car High miles but many upgrade than a lows miles car
I corrected for this in the data.
Great video has a pic of STO and no info on that model . Must be Clickbait
It is included in the data. You can ask for the rate by commenting as described in the video.
In summary, just buy non-Turbo (big T) Porsche Cayman/Boxter's and 911's. That's what I do!
Pro tip assume your car will become worthless in 7 years and it can get written off at any time. Not an investment.
Mclaren 570S convertible and 720s convertible please
720S spider -1.05% 570S spider: -0.5%
Thank you so much.
720S is -0.95% WOOHOOO!!! I have a 68plate 2019 720S Papaya Spark with all carbon, currently on 24k miles! i love driving it! its toooooooo good!
2019 BMW X3 M40i - Would be great to understand the depreciation per 1k miles.🚙
Unfortunatley i do not have data for that car.
wish there were chaptors by cars :(
i guess its better for you to not have those as you'd generate higher view time
A chapter per car seems a bit overkill to me. Perhaps per age group?
To all investors: cars are like art and wine… made for connoisseurs and not to get rich! If you can’t enjoy‘em, then look out for other investments .
GT350 & GT350R
Unfortunately i have no data for those cars.
350R longterm will be way up there
And if you have a low run number of 2016 models
very interesting video (read: topic)
Avoid supercars. 80s to 00s jdm best bang for buck
Great video. Recommend you lose the beard, just saying
Trust me, that is not a good idea :)
I'm sure it's not you but i will confess it's me.
Your video is informative but I can't follow so many figures.
It's hard for me to absorb so many data figures and percentages. I'm a simple man.
Perhaps the three practical conclusions at 15:39 are more informative. Admitingly, this is perhaps the most data heavy video I ever uploaded.
Per thousand is not interesting. It’s thresholds. 5k, 10k, 20k, 30k. Exotics drop off cliffs as they pass these perception threshold. Please redo your research.
Miles overviews are included, please watch the video.
720S data please xx
