I have two favorite timber fallers channels, of course Bjarne and Jack Beeler of “Hotsaws 101” channel. Also give credit to the many hard working outstanding loggers that put their life on the line in one of the most dangerous professions on the planet! I do not like the channels that drowned out the beautiful sound of the chainsaws with noise- “music”!
Thank you for the videos. Been watching for a while now. Look forward to each one. Really like how you explain what you are trying to do, even if it doesn't happen the way you planned. Stay safe and keep up the good work
Yes, Bjarne your videos are the best. I couldn't believe the dangerous rotten tree, with all the holes and areas the water and rot were, on the Hemlock. How scary to fall such a rotten tree. It could have split in a rotten spot. It was amazing the knowledge you use to keep it together as it falls, using a jack too. Then dropping all those around the pad. If you make a mistake, you show that. Thanks for another great video.
Also I mentioned about my sons, friends Dad being killed while falling trees last week. Apparently he made a mistake after it fell. I guess he released a tension spot that had not broken right. And when he cut it, it shot back like a slingshot, on top of him. He was 61. I see how careful you are and stand so far away when bucking and cutting the log. It jumps along at times. Please stay safe always.
Bjarne Thanks Again for a really great and informative Video. We really like the Heli-Rides in or out.... I'm sorry your having so much trouble with your 572 XP. While we do own all Husqvarna Saws and 1 older Stihl, And we do own 2 of the new self tuning XP saws a little 550 Mk 2 and a 572 just like yours, truth is we have ran the daylights out of the 550 mk 2 saw that we put a 3/8 sprocket on and it and swapped out the sprocket so we could go to 20" bar and run our 3/8" 0.50 Skip Tooth Full Chisel Chain on it and buddy it's never missed a beat, starts and runs so easy we were very anxious to try a 572 so We got one and only put on a custom built muffler to free up more of it's Horsepower. Now like yours it gave me fits the first 2 months we used it. It acted just like a saw that was getting so hot it was boiling the fuel or vapor locking. Luckily we obtained the computer program (self diagnostic) that you can hook up to a laptop and it shows you everytime it was started what rpm it ran....there are so many things it will tell you anyway ours showed it was getting some of the electronics in the saw hot and they needed to be switched out. Our Son and our Local Saw Shop guy (who has passed away this last year) got together one day and swapped out several things and found the right thing that was not working right when it got so hot. It's ran as good as the little 550 ever since. I know the guy who worked on your saw and if anyone can understand and fix it he can, didn't you say he ported it right out of the box for you ? Anyway we were very lucky to get the program loaded on to our Son's laptop he understands all the new electronic stuff....me I prefer my old style 390 XP to anything we own, yeah it's heavy old brute but it's old skool and as long as it's not major I can fix or tune it in the bush with just a few tools. Didn't you say you were waiting on your new 592 from your saw guy up there to get finished ? Sorry this is so long but we only can fall from a little before sun up till around noon and the Forest Service throws out the red flag warnings and it's just to dry and hot to risk a Forest Fire so we either head home at noon or to the landing to sort, stack and get our logs loaded to haul to the mill. It's dry and gets up to the lower 90's by 11:30-Noon every day so it's really hard on the saws and too dangerous to be out and risk one spark starting a fire. Thanks again, Hope to hear from you again soon.
I bought a new 572 sent it off for port work got it back. Ups had smashed the box along with the saw breaking the brake flag. So I wanted to run it for a few minutes to make sure the brake was the only damage. After running it I took top, filter off to look it over and noticed a very fine layer of dust on the inside of the intake. After 10 minutes of run time.?? I prefer Stihl over Husqvarna mainly because of Maxflow air filters. When oiled correctly they’re the best. The gas, mix oil, and air filter are the life of you’re saw. I’m not sure what Husqvarna is doing but I’m not gonna find out. Lots of problems with the 572 and 592. If I was cutting here I would be using a ported 461. awesome video !!
hello there I now the husky can be a pain sometimes to start try the warm start put the saw in the choke position then push down until it clicks then pump the primer bulb 3-4 times dumps some cool fuel in and they fire up in 1 or 2 pulls thanks for videos kevin
Some artists use a paint brush and canvas. You use a chainsaw! Well done, young man! I've been riding along with you for quite awhile now, and you just keep getting better and better with your videograghy (spell check tells me that ain't a word, but screw spellcheck!). I really, really like how you go to the extra trouble to grab the camera, look up, and follow the tree as it falls! That, to me, shows how much you love what you're doing. BTW, the sweater I got from your site is awesome! Everybody should have at least one, better to have two!
Thanks for another great video, Bjarne. Looks like the 5 series saws still have a few teething troubles, most new products do. Donny was showing how the cases of some 592's have broken where in the inner dog attaches & is notifying Husqvarna. I would suggest making sure you can get 390's for the next 12 months. Best regards.
40% say Vanilla 40% say chocolate And 10% who never packed a saw all day say “I have one that will cut harder then any saw you got” but yet it hasn’t been out of the garage since 1980 lmao 🤣 yet they sit back and nit pick like a bunch of old women because they have no clue what it takes to hike steep country packing cutting gear haha keep the awesome videos coming love them!
The saw didn't seem too bad. I know my 500i will do the same thing when it's hot if I don't get cooler fuel through it. I always set my 572 on the high idle and give it 5 pumps with the bowl and it will hot start just fine. Great video. Keep up the good work. I've learned a lot from your videos.
Wood love outdoors was right on the money. When my 555 wants to be stubborn I give mine 2 or 3 pumps, pull choke up and return it to run, then start. I got this from someone on the tube, seems to work most times . Nothing more frustrating than a saw that's stubborn. Good video.
hurt my leg playing tennis so I am laid up for a day ,,, checked my you tube for something to watch ,, what good luck ,,, Bjarne has a 2 hour mid week video up😉 and its a goodie 👍😉 thanks
Nice work per your normal day Bjarne! Nothin worse than fightin a saw that don't wanna play because your more focused on when it might try and calf out on ya than where you're at in a buckin cut or hurrying through something instead of thinkin all the way through yer options because the damn thing is runnin decent for 5 minutes. Safe cuttin pard, hope you get somethin ironed out with the saw
Great channel. While watching you fell these trees I’ve noticed a lot of liquid coming out of your saw, especially when you have it sideways. It’s very noticeable when you’re at full throttle. I think it’s also causing your chain to get gummed up.
Thanks for posting I'm a retired construction worker 45yr of physical labor so I can appreciate the work you do, but it's oddly relaxing to watch. Just the hike would wipe most people out, then you gotta put the tree down where it's supposed to go without getting killed in the process. Nothing to it right any ways I'll give you a couple clicks
Not trying to answer for Bajarnie by any means but They are called "Calks" they have replaceable spikes in the sole to grip logs and so forth. 99.9% of all Fallers wear them once they get to where they are cutting. You can wear them to and from but the spikes wear off quick and you need them to grip. Some guys buy custom made boots and have them installed, some buy them with the "Calks" already in them. Some buy regular loggers boots and have them put in. Now when they get wore down you have a little wrench that you can carry in your pocket to tighten or replace any that get lost or break or are just wore down so far they stop gripping. I buy Special Lineman's boots (just like typical logger boots except built for wearing climbing Spikes) because I need the upper calf protection they offer with the tall uppers, they come up to just below the knee. I buy ours from Bailey's Supply in California, their Red Dawg boots are handmade in Canada and are the best boot or shoe I've ever owned....even better than custom made ones costing twice as much. I take mine and have the "Calks or little spikes" installed in them by our local Boot and Shoe repair guy. Calk boots come in standard lace to toe logger boot style or you can even buy the day glow orange, rubber boots with Calks if your working in really wet conditions. Our Son and I have 2 pair of Calk Boots each...1 pair for wearing in regular day to day conditions and one pair each that are just for Wet Winter time only, they are insulated to ZERO "f" then water proofed (we Mink oil the heck out of them then seal them with silicone boot spray several times a winter if need be to water proof them) and our feet stay warm and dry unless it's Sub-Zero weather and when it's that cold we stay home lol Again not trying to answer for Bjarne. Just letting you know most of us Fallers/Loggers wear them when on the mountain.
some skookum devils club on that patch of coast. Saw problems...have you tried a cleaned out or new gas tank vent ..not sure where it is in yours, but mine is on the drive side within a few inches of the clutch/drive sprocket...uhhh no saw dust there ...... once in dozens of hours I got to do that to keep mine running...that and the fuel filter..good luck sorting it out.
I'd bet you would love running my Husky 395 xp...she's juiced and pulls a 50" bar nicely. Love ur videos, I'm not a fan of the fuel injected saws at all but they are what's available. Have a good one Bjarne
I got a 281xp and a 2100cd I can lend you haha. They ain't new but they tried and true and will do the job. I don't know why they didn't put an adjustable carburetor in those new saws. Or a way to disperse heat better. I think all demo saws should be tested in logging operations like that to work out any bugs. Speaking of bugs, man I know they are aggravating. Cool weather will be here eventually.
Great stuff Bjarne, don't forget to tell what's wrong with the saw?......can you also take a minute to explain your cuts, when you're bucking?....... after cutting the back of the log, i'm not sure your sequence?
Think the saw may be vapor locked. The cap has a small hole, that lets air in,with a diagram valve. I had problems with mine. Also with the hot temperature,it ads to the problem. Still a very good day in the woods. Like the long videos, stay safe. 🤙🙏
seems like you have had more issues with the saw grabing and also getting stopped with woor chips. a problem with the wood , the chain (maybe depth guages?) or the saw?
Devil’s Club makes the best power saw file Handel,, peal the bark off cram it onto the file , never comes off . Make sure to chose a piece large enough to be a comfortable size 👍🇨🇦
So I was thinking...(always a dangerous thing, says the wife).....you don't send a rookie to fell trees around the heli-pad....you send your BEST! 😉 For once she said I was right! 🤣👍
Hi Bjarne, Im addicted to your channel. Content is captivating and technically spot on. I’ve noticed that you plumb-bob with your axe. Pinching between your thumb and index finger. Have you ever tried by rotating your pivot 90 degrees? Although it might feel different, the accuracy is a tad more accurate. Cheers and keep on felling!!
Everything is so fluid. I’ve been working on my axe work, trying to swing it as accurately as you do. I’m tired of buying wedges because I miss my mark. There’s so much that I focus on when I’m in the woods that you have brought to my attention. I’m by no means the faller you are but I’m better at putting trees where I want them
It would land on good wood and probably break it and bury it for the big chopper. Also would be risky falling that close to the pad. The spot I dropped it wa on open ground, at lest that’s what I remember. I filmed this video a while back
Once again great job.I dont know what could be problem with your chainsaw.Starts and runs like it should.Maybe is small problem,if not take to husqvarna deaer
man oh man, leave your depth gauges up a few tho more its cool to hear it pull hard but you stall your chain and pull that engine down far too often... appreciate that hard ass work on the side of those mountains brother !!!! stay safe
Government says we have to or it will get scaled as waste and the wood owner will get waste penalty. It’s stupid and illogical but hey that’s the government for ya
Best logging channel on RUclips no showing off just a guy and his saw doing what he loves
Absolutely! Bjarne is a boss!

Bjarne you sir are a master faller, I watch your technique to help me be a better faller
Could you show us the difference in the needles of the different trees? Those hemlocks looks so much more different than what we have in the East.
Sea smoke almost to top off mtns. Nice dropping logs buddy . Keep up SAFETY WORK .
Your laugh is funny when you are showing us your plan 🤣
Those of us who watch you work don't realize how hard you work.
Some great cutting. That tree you jacked looks like it hit a bit close to the pad. I was like yikes at first. Lol
Great channel. While watching you fell these trees I’ve noticed a lot of liquid coming out of your saw, especially when you have it sideways. It’s very noticeable when you’re at full throttle. I think it’s also causing your chain to get gummed up.

Do you like the 572 saw. It sounds very strong.
I am curious could you do a quick talk in one of your upcoming videos about how you wrap the handle of your axe
Do find you are getting more white wood heli blocks the now with the good prices? I haven’t seen much cedar in your last vids.
No wasted moves......it adds up at the end of the day!
Thanks Bjarne
How much soil are these guys living in on side slopes like that? How far to rubble/bedrock under the forest patches?
Besides the two vertical bore cuts to make a place for the jack, what is the purpose of the other vertical bore cuts?
Thanks.

Thanks for the helo rides … I don’t get to do those just a skidder lol
so, you came onto this job as a specialist after another faller worked the block? seems like you were falling a lot of problem trees this time?
Are those light colored barked trees Noble firs?
Balsam also know as Amabilis fir
@@mke6445davis Ah, yes. We call it Pacific Silver fir in the Washington Coast Range, Olympic Mountains, and the Cascade mountains. Thanks.
Is that “Devil’s Club” the same thing as “Devil’s Walking Stick”? The difference may only be in the colloquial terms, but I don’t know.

Another cool ass video awesome
Damn that first hemlock hinge made the coolest sound.
Ya hemlocks can make some awesome sounds when going over
What do you remote fallers use as bear protectors ?
Bjarne, great channel! Do you build the Heli-Pads? Are the Timbers cut freehand with a chain saw? Very nice!
What are you cutting these trees for a right of way?
Love your channel Bjorn....love to buy a t-shirt or something. The sweater or hi viz doesn't work for me.
It pulls me in to the fun !

A beautiful Western hemlock forest.
What runs through your mind when you knock trees down bro 😮
Why didn't you just drop it downhill? It was rotten anyway. What was your line of thought?
It would land on good wood and probably break it and bury it for the big chopper. Also would be risky falling that close to the pad. The spot I dropped it wa on open ground, at lest that’s what I remember. I filmed this video a while back

Something is wrong with your saw, you should never have to crank a warm saw. What kind of fuel are you running?
