In Clementi's 'Introduction of the Art Playing on the Piano Forte', published in 1797, he recommends that the pupils study his Six Sonatinas, Opus 36 as
supplementary material, an easy to intermediate-level Sonatinas constitute
beautiful repertoire very much representative of the Classical style.
This No.1 is in C major. The first movement builds upon a simple motif of a broken chords of I and V. The second movement in F introduces the concept of triplet accompaniment. The last movement, back in C major is a rondo with trains the student's accuracy in five-finger positions.
