@@albertm.pedersen579real, big band was supposed to die in the 50s, but somehow is still somewhat alive, nearly the same with early New Orleans Jazz still surviving.
@@StupidBorbGuy big band is honestly one of my favorite styles of music to listen to, there's something about it that is so personal and it can always be tweaked to change things, to where everybody has a role and everybody is needed for a piece to sound full
nothing unnecessary, nothing processed, or ran through anything, just people playing their heart out - it's also why i love acoustic covers of songs so much (especially one take acoustic covers) since it's just a display of emotion and talent, big band/live jazz are basically the same thing - unlike a lot of other genres, you only get so far by wanting to make money or be famous off of something like it, to thrive you have to truly put your heart and soul into what you're playing and your audience will be able to tell and feel what you're playing rather than you having to explain it
if you can tell a story with your music, with your arrangement, with your playing, you've won in my mind

@@Krowhanig a lot of people say it and its understandable - jazz isnt the same as it once was. and much of what people now call jazz is not much more than an imitation. there is still jazz out there and its not all gone, but it has definitely diminished and the remaining jazz is much different than the jazz that used to be. i wouldnt say its dead tho
@shmeee3636 Jazz has always been evolving; the stuff you'd hear in the 30s is much different than that of the 50s, and then the 70s, etc., so I don't think the fact that it's different makes it any less "jazz." I do agree that it has diminished in popularity over the years, though, since it has to share space with newer genres like rock and pop.
