    I remember Camera Conspiracies using an NX-1 a few years ago and generally liking it. Of course, he lives to find faults. Its lack of an articulating screen and occasional AF issues put him off it. But it's not a vlogging camera anyway. I'm glad you love yours!

      Yes, it holds up well, and when you white balance correctly, the image is amazing. If you don't, then it's really hard to work with the colors in post.

      Trust me I’ve been trying to get one for over 2 months, but you can’t make me you understand 700-1000 for a what they call a “collector camera” lol it’s 12 years old it had ok reviews I’d rather you understand a bmpcc 4k for 1000 bucks bro. But it’s stuff glamorizing these cameras that keeps um high prices like the bmpcc 1080 60 p camera yes it’s raw but 709 bucks there tryinf o get when it was barely that new lol. You can understand the camera all you want i ahve the same sensor i. My nx500 so close enough if price goes down maybe but I bought a gh5 over a Samsung this month becuase it’s what I need goodluck

    Thanks for the video! Proud owner of the NX1 here..and NX500..and NX30..and NX300..and NX100..and NX Mini. There you have it. I just love my NX1 and I think in combo with my 18-200mm it's just perfect and doesn't need other lenses really. Though I have some others at my disposal. I was thinking several times of selling all of this and I might sell some of my treasures. I am just waiting for the Panasonic Lumix S5iix. That might be when I will change the system. but until then..

    Amazing! Thanks for the video. Even though Samsung gave up mirrorless cameras, it seems like they gathered a dedicated and enthusiastic following, which isn’t hard to understand. I have an NX1, two NX500s, an NX300 and an NX30, and I think they’re all amazing still. Keep up the good work.

    The NX1 is just great. Not only the handling and the lenses, but also the menus, which is in its simplicity an example to the day. I own it, I use it. I know from a Sony employee, that they were really scared, when Samsung brought the camera to the market.
    The colors out of the box are also great. The only problem at the time was, that it had no h264 only h265, and most editing systems were not ready. This was a huge mistake and did cost them dearly.

    I am a videomaker who has been using the Nx1 for 5 years and it has never let me down! If I could change the setting, I'd buy a 4k BMPC :)

    The Samsung NX1 and Samsung NX500 have a developers menu that you have easily access just by making a text file and adding it to the SD Card in the camera. in this developers menu you can remove the recording time limit for videos. there is also a firmware Mod that you can do witch allows you to change the video BitRate of the video taken by the camera. the camera records using the H.265 video codec witch is half the size while retaining twice as much video info as most other cameras witch use the H.264 video codec. so that makes the standard 80 megabytes per second into a 160 megabyte per second video if you convert it to H.264 video. so I was able to bump up the bitrate on the camera to 180 megabytes per second in H.265 video codec. so thats a standard of 360 megabytes per second in the H.264 video codec. the modded firmware for the Samsun NX1 and NX500 doesn't add a lot to the cameras but no recording time limits and being able to change the bitrates is definitely a great reason to add the custom modded firmware to the Samsung NX1 and Samsung NX500 Cameras.

    • @Falk4J

    • @velvetrooster5569
      @velvetrooster5569 Год назад +1

      @@Falk4J Try the Developer menu first to remove record limits. That can be done on all NX cameras but the custom firmware that allows you to change video bitrate can only be installed on NX1 and NX500

    • @magnus547
      @magnus547  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for the comment! I do have the firmware hack and have bumped up recording bit rates on the camera! However, I'm careful with the unlimited recording. Anytime you record a bit past 45 minutes, your file corrupts before it saves. I've run into this a few times on shoots, but thankfully discovered software that can recover those video files, but it's time-consuming.

    I just want to say that I have both of the Samsung Android based pockets cameras a.k.a. the Samsung Galaxy Camera and Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 as well as the Samsung Galaxy NX and the Samsung NX30 and the Samsung NX 500 and the Samsung NX1 and even the Samsung NX Mini and I have never havd any overheating problems with them in the summer time. I know a lot of camera brands are notorious for having over heating issues especially in the summer but I have never once had that problem with any of the Samsung cameras that I own and mentioned in this comment.

    Where did you get the camera manager app for the remote shooting? It used to work for me, but I just tried (with the one on App Store) but the app can’t connect to the camera even though the phone itself can see the camera network and connects to it. I wonder if it has to do with the iOS version. NX1 is an awesome camera even today and I’d love to use this remote shooting.

      For those of you with a a similar problem, FYI I was able to make it work on a very old iPhone lying around. Looks like this is to do with new iOS versions and/or hardware. I’d be interested in knowing if anyone got it working with a current phone.

    DO you know of a solution for the discontinued support for the camera control app (on lter/current android editions)??
    Losing that functionality is a colossal bummer
    (Also - can you talk them into releasing a new mirrorless that integrates all the flipping crazy phenomenal camera sensor tech they have developed for cellphones since 2015 n- They'd fkn KILL IT)
    I've been mailing the CEO & everyone else repeatedly recommending that jump back in the market with one model for each category (That LIDAR sensor tech is phenomenal PLUSE thay could just do away w memory cards & use M.2 ssd's either integrated or slotted/removable - that ALONE would jump the entire industry forward)
    AND - man - I would welcome a few new lenses... (and a speedbooster, dummy battery)

      As much as I wish I had that type of influence, all I can do is say I'm a fan life you! It will take the masses to scream before that happens is my guess. As far as the app... it still works for me. I'll release a video soon on how I get it to work. Enough people asked me about it, and I want to help.

    Could you please do a video comparison between the R5 & NX1 footage? I want to see how the NX1 holds up with today’s new cameras

    • @magnus547
      @magnus547  Год назад

      I definitely could. When I did my initial review of the R5, I did compare the sharpness of the NX1 to the R5, and 5D Mark IV. The NX1 in 4K was sharper than the 5D Mark IV, and the R5 when in regular 4K. However, 4K HQ on the R5 was a bit sharper. Also, the video bit depth is better on the R5 with 10 Bit 4:2:2 when recording in C-Log, with an h.265 compression that is more efficient than the NX1 8 - Bit 4:2:0 footage. (They both record 80mbps, but R5 has more bit depth) Dynamic Range on Samsung is about 10 stops, while the R5 is about 14 stops, 12 usable stops. Colors are pleasing on both. In any case. Stay tuned!

    Have you ever used the external recording function on the Nx1 and if so can you tell the difference between internal and external? And is it 10Bit externally ?

    • @magnus547
      @magnus547  3 месяца назад +1

      Hello! Yes, I have used the external recording of the NX1. Unfortunately, the external recording isn't 10 bit. It's 8 Bit 4:2:2, as opposed to the 8 Bit 4:2:0 of the internal recording. One thing I can say is that though you don't really notice a difference when viewing the footage, when it comes to color grading, it does help you push the colors a bit further. Hope that helps.

    It’s pathetic s and pisses me off that the nx1 is going on eBay for 800-1200 with a. Lens wtf it’s worth 499 max lol it’s almost 10 years old so what it’s it’s ok 6k so does the 6100 by Sony lol but better 4k and it’s not discontinues it’s not vintage so there’s no excuses why people put this camera on a pedistal most rating are bad except DPReview and they even said ther rating was a mistake so ya.

      It's a gamble to try and buy a 7yr old camera, but well worth it if you're doing controlled shoots (control over lighting). MarkusPix uses the NX500 it in his healthy life cooking channel til this day, the footage is still among the best out there.

    • @Summerfromhome

      @@ishudshutup Very much is a gamble. I got my NX1 for cheap - about 150USD on the marketplace with two lenses (because no one wanted to buy it), but let me just say that the image you get on it is crazy. The only problem I have with it is not being able to shoot in a flat profile. But other than that, I see myself using it till the end but also see myself getting a Sony or Canon to have them work together.
