Nice topic brother, In Indian society a vehicle shows the economic status of individual.. its not a mere mode of transportation, Even in tier 2 cities family of four uses four different sedans, SUVs just for the sake of status. Car pooling, public transport considered as low class. So pollution issue, parking space problem is out of thought process for majority ppl.
AAh! Finally, you nailed the point. We Indians consider a vehicle as a status symbol and not a mode of transportation. It is our inferiority complex at play. We like to boast. Bigger the vehicle, the bigger the status. Fools. We are contributing to the pollution and burdening our environment.
status symbol... where are you living now...we have moved away long back from it...you are not talking about majority by the way...a family of four using 4 sedans, a suv..that's less than 2% in our country
also we are not focussing on infrastructure of our roads, road dust is a major concern and we are building normal road system without windbreaks or something to control road dusts and china accepted that controling road dust is a game changer for them
same for southern state becuase of humidity and rainfall road dust isn't a problem there and that is the reason that even with such high population density in those cities they aren't even close to north indian states in terms of pollution

Only sensible comment here, the production of a new car is more harmful to the environment. If the govt really cared about the environment they would encourage longer usage of cars and evs are worse for the environment. This is only a ploy for govts to transfer wealth and maximise control, nothing to do with the environment. But people arent smart and are gullible, they will willingly surrender.
Delhi government is doing great job in promoting cycling. They are creating new cycle tracks on masaive scale. Also they are promoting public transport to a great extent. They have even made all sorts of public transport free for women. Also Delhi's EV policy is one of the best in the country and it has maximum charging station. Solutions should be these 1. Ban of vehicles should be on the base of pollution level it generates..after every 5 years there should be a test for pollution level for every Car,which Car pass it should be free to go 2. There should be a law in Delhi for owing the vehicle. One family should only own One car.. If that family need another Car then they should have to get a certificate from government that why they need car. If their reason is valid then only they can buy otherwise strictly No.. 3. Ur solution of CNG for petrol Cars after 15 yrs is absolutely right. 4.If govt. Don't agree on that then they should have to reduce their Taxes for cars.. Taxes should be base on how many yrs car registration is valid.. If a car is valid for only 10 years then their taxes should also be Low compare to 15 or 20 yrs car tax..

Good eye opening video. It is only the Auto industry that is getting benefited. Did the pollution levels come down with the steps taken? They should seriously consider promoting public transport and make it mandatory for industries to collaborate by locations and provide such transport for all employees. Only exceptions can be the physically challenged ones. Any meetings these days can surely be taken on online platforms and Agreements made digitally. So even the senior managers do not require to travel by individual vehicles.

Banning the fit cars and compelling people to buy new car on pretext of pollution mitigation is super foolishness because manufacturing new car and scrapping/recycling of old cars itself would consume lot of energy which interns adds to green house pollution. Solution is super robust public transport system in combination with promotion of shared E rickshaw/EV cars and cycling. India lacks in resources of land and petrol fuels. So we don’t have option but to adopt Japanese and Singapore models.
Many countries in the world have lifetime registration of vehicles, meaning you can use your vehicle as long as it can survive. In India its clearly exploitation of people and most vehicles sold in India are from foreign companies. There is also exploitation in the form of high fuel prices. They also keep public transport extremely pathetic and unsafe especially for women. Delhi's pollution problem can be solved by improving public transport, current metro is not able to fulfill the demand and needs to be augmented. Then they have to make bicycle only zones. A normal man can easily cycle 10 kms or more. They must have car free zones.
Surprising that despite well covered metro route, Delhi has so many cars. Smog is the biggest reason! Stubble burning, construction dust is very much greater than vehicle pollution. Stubble burning in Haryana, Punjab must stop.
nah stopping that is logical and also too much work. Rather just ban old perfect condition cars , kill the used car market and enjoy the tax profits on each new car sale.
ban is probably the easiest thing to do for any gov. No action needed. Let users suffer. Police just needs to implement the ban and they will be more than happy to do so as it's another excuse to take bribes
4:46 Correction - 1. Coal based power plants are more energy efficient than individual ICE. 2. Coal plats are normally away from cities, so unlike ICE, coal plants don't cause direct pollution for already heavily polluted cities. 3. We are 3rd largest renewable energy producer in the world. 4. We are the only G20 country to not just meet but to exceed the Paris climate change agreement. 5. In last 8 years our renewable energy capacity has increased by extraordinary 286%. 6. India has achieved its NDC target with total non-fossil based installed energy capacity of 158.17 GW which is 40.2% of the total installed electricity capacity. 7. The country has set an ambitious target to achieve a capacity of 175 GW by 2022, & 500 GW by 2030 (i.e. 50% of total production) 8. Looking at 8 years performance, 2022 & 2030 targets completely achievable. 9. India is world leader in research on Thorium based nuclear power plant (we have lots and lots of Thorium deposits unlike Uranium) and we should have production plat ready in 10 to 15 years. Steps to tackle pollution in big cities: 1. Instead of following American model of Cars first we should follow European or Japaneses model of public transport and cycling. 2. Promote 2 wheeler EV as India's ~60% oil is used by ICE two wheelers. EV two wheelers are completely practical for cities usage and also way more cost efficient than ICE counterparts. 3. Promote ICE to EV or CNG conversion kit.

The government is simply incappable and is hence disposing off its responsibilities to poor middle class citizens
Great video brother, your solution of mandatorily installing CNG in aged cars and giving them excuse of another 5+ years is just precise. Govt should consider this point. For middle class family buying a car is very big step financially, 5 to 7 years we pay the loan itself with hefty interest. Middle class person buy car out of necessity, to keep family together while travelling. Car is like second home when you are on drive. Car company as well govt should come up with some plan to ease this process for people, than just striking cars on road.
Cycling, better Public Transport infrastructure (specially railways & metro) is the key to lessen pollution. EV & ban on Diesel cars is just for showoff & more tax collection
i think they fail to consider ki nayi gadi ko banane me zayda pollution hota hai compared to using the old one. Also delhi ka infrastructure is car first cuz humare mantri waha rehte hai and mantri wants gaadi, agar European cities me dekho which have infrastructure to demote cars, public apne aap walking/cycling/public transport prefer karti hai.
Promote cycling? Fat chance thats gonna happen. Especially not in a city like NCR. Why? Its way too dangerous. Already we require 5 star safety cars on India's roads, buy cycles? No way. Not with the driving conditions. The government has made a city built for cars. It has zero sidewalk connection, zero lane driving, etc. Complete opposite of japan. Forget japan, even Uganda has better driving conditions than India. Until the people themselves give a crap about safety, cycling, green future, etc. will never come to india. You can brag all you want about EV's and cycling and public transport, but at the end of the day, the city is so badly designed, and people drive so recklessly, that its all a moot point.
I think Delhi govt should improve cycling infra. Cycling + Metro will provide good connectivity throughout city. Considering India is highly dense country, public transport + cycling is way better than car-centric city designs.

The new BS6 AND BS6 PHASE 2 VEHICLES in both PETROL and DIESEL are much much less of a polluter compared to their bs4 counterparts. And surprisingly BS6 Diesels pollute lesser than BS6 PETROLS! In terms of PM and Carbon emissions. So this 10 and 15 year rule is just a way to exploit and siphone off money from the pockets of the general public who buy a car after years of hardwork. The government needs to think practically and with a view of infrastructure available in India at the moment.
I think most people ignore this point that the reason we are having high pollution levels is because of poor urban planning and not just because of High car density (as even small countries like Japan may have higher car density than us). Too many vehicles and too much traffic congestion is just because most of the economic activities of urban areas is confined to very small, old and narrow areas.
We had to sell our 2012 xuv500 because it was diesel and we live in the bcr region. I hated this stupid rule and I still do now, our car was in a pretty good condition and was good for 2-3 years more. It was so hard to say goodbye to it as all of us we're very attached to it

I have heard that there are lot of diesel generators in delhi,if there was uninterrupted power, why would people keep generators at home, this rule to ban running condition vehicles is to just loot common man, government gets taxes, car companies sell new cars🙏
Manufacturing a new car also adds to emissions. Most private car owners use their cars much less than commercial car owners. So private cars should not be banned because of age. Their fitness and pollution level can be checked to let them run or be scrapped.
Same NGT used to fight tooth and nail against central government for availability of cheaper CNG until 2014. Then for some reason, NGT caved in front of present govt and the prices of CNG are comparable to petrol now. CNG causes a lot less pollution and are far more practical than EVs at the moment. But what can be said against this autocratic govt!!
In South part of india, many people do use many old cars. We have no issues. TDP party Chandra babu naidu still uses 2010 version tata safaris. He has a convoy 10+tata safari with bullet proof.
Issue is Govt takes 50% taxes on cars and we can’t hold the cars for more than 10/15 years.. and resale also comes down drastically.. If I keep my car in perfect shape why should I have to sell the car in 10 years? And pay exhorbitant money and taxes everytime Reduce taxes on new cars in NCR then
I am from Hyderabad and my mother drive her maruti 800 daily which is 20years old and in despite its age the condition of the car is pretty mint. Now we have to pass the fitness test and here's the issue. The green tax for this old car is Rs 20,000/- RTA fee about Rs 6000/- insurance and PUC add up another Rs 4000/- now this process is almost the car value which is unjustified. Now we have two options scrap it and go for a another car or pay this high fee to run it for another 5 years or lastly run it till it got caught by some official and forget about it.
My car is 11.5 year old. My financial condition is good. But, i will keep it for 20 years. Selling car in 5 yrs is a marketing narrative set by car sellers to increase their business.
I dont know why every one are supporting EV so much ignoring the fact that EV vehicle produce carbon emission considerably more than ICE engine vehicle in its lifetime. Lithium production itself cause humongous carbon emissions. Then how did EV is greener option . check your facts before giving a statement.
Sabse chutiya law hai yeh....gaadi ka har 20 saal baad inspection hona chahiye or agar vo fit hain to unhe 5 saal or chalne diya jaaye ek gaadi ko lifetime at least 25-30 years honi chahiye
We dont have 24 hrs electricity in india for homes in small town and villages Imagine when electricity consumption goes high by cars than how this demand will be fulfilled Electicity per unit charges gonna be higher than petrol or diesel in coming future. Gvt only need taxs
Finally, someone noticed this stupidity and made a video about how people are made a fool about this. By the way it's not just North indians, the Government of West Bengal is trying to implement a similar law. If these states really wanted to bring down pollution, then these states instead of banning cars should have forced people to properly maintain their cars so pollution arising from cars remains at a minimum, but doesn't do it. They could have bought out the stubble from farmers and make biogas from it and then use that biogas to churn out electricity, but doesn't do it. They could have bought out lands and planted trees, but doesn't do it. All these makes me think that the goverments f these two states are forcefully passign on the responsibility on to the common people instead of doing anything themselves. On a different note, there are many issues associated with electric cars (disadvantages to be specific), one of which is electric cars on an average have shorter life than any fossil fueled cars because of their battery which degrades significantly after 7 or 8 years. So unless there are hydrogen engined cars, people will be forced to sell of their cars after 7 or 8 years in contrast to fossil fueled engined cars or hydrogen engined cars, which if properly maintained can easily outlast any electric car on this planet.
owning a car is a headache in delhi bigger reason in traffic apart from all these now tell me if ppl will drop their plan to buy new car than how idiot government will collect tax ?
Instead of banning old cars, the government could have mandated changing engines in old cars to suite pollution norms. That way the government could reduce the pollution, reduced scrap wastes. People would not keep buying new cars because of which metal usage will also be conserved, less energy would be spent on recycling scrapped cars and we would improve sustainability.

Car has other benefits, also since the main issue is pollution atleast you won't have to breath in that polluted air while you are in the car, cycle par saara time woh polluted air breathe karoge. Jo bhi yeh purani cars hai unke liye conversion kits par subsidy will help those have financial issue. Also electric car conversion kits (legality of which I am unsure of) can be subsidized
Across India they should implement a rule that no one individual can drive a car alone, other than accompanied by a driver or more than 2 passenger in a car. And for any other case than office or daily commute, one should apply for permission everyday to take their car out. Car owner should be allowed to take care out without restrictions on weekends. And if one wants to use car pooling then everyone traveling inside the car should apply for approval using Aadhaar n OTP. It's crazy to see big cars plying on heavy traffic, traveling and commuting alone daily to their office. If they still want to, then let them create a Job by having a driver.
The biggest issue of our country is to put the restrictions first, and never give a proper solution to the actual problem. Exam me cheating rokne ke liye strongest restrictions, but education system ko sudharne ke liye no strong measures.

Nice topic brother,
In Indian society a vehicle shows the economic status of individual..
its not a mere mode of transportation,
Even in tier 2 cities family of four uses four different sedans, SUVs just for the sake of status.

Solutions should be these
1. Ban of vehicles should be on the base of pollution level it generates..after every 5 years there should be a test for pollution level for every Car,which Car pass it should be free to go
If a car is valid for only 10 years then their taxes should also be Low compare to 15 or 20 yrs car tax..

and use fitness test for older diesel cars to decide if they should be scrapped.
It is only the Auto industry that is getting benefited. Did the pollution levels come down with the steps taken? They should seriously consider promoting public transport and make it mandatory for industries to collaborate by locations and provide such transport for all employees.
Stubble burning in Haryana, Punjab must stop.
chutiye hain dilli wale. metro ke baad bhi sab chutiyapa
nah stopping that is logical and also too much work.

50% of total production)
8. Looking at 8 years performance, 2022 & 2030 targets completely achievable.
9. India is world leader in research on Thorium based nuclear power plant (we have lots and lots of Thorium deposits unlike Uranium) and we should have production plat ready in 10 to 15 years.
Steps to tackle pollution in big cities:
