The only real solution is using public transport, like European countries, and charging some green tax from ICE/EV owners. Similar problem is with air conditioning. Using them is like adding fuel to fire and destroying the earth. Coal energy pollutes the environment and the electricity produced used in AC's again releases greenhouse gases that further warms the earth and make our life hell. Sadly worlds most developed countries are the ones that have highest carbon footprint. It's time to work on minimising, reusing and recycling.
Brilliant content guys, keep it up! You 2 are staying true to your vision of keeping an Indian automotive consumer informed about their choices- be it purchase, running or sustenance. Kudos!
Nice way to present it. Can you please advice 1) How environment friendly are crude oil extraction process and the total process from extraction of crude oil to the time it is ready to be fueled petrol at a gas station 2) Do you have any other alternative to ICE vehicles which can be considered as a future instead of EV's - This is because Crude Oil won't exist forever and a shift will be required which needs to be started now to make sure its in force in years to come
@@saurabhchaudhari3002 Yes but that is yet to be proven safe. And its very very expensive. Also, it is kind of difficult to implement in 2 wheelers which is major chunk of Indian road traffic
Crude Oil is extracted by big global brands so there is no scope of Human Right Violation. The process is as refined as it can be because it is done legally at a very large scale. Oil is also transported through pipelines which don't require diesel. EV is just another option. The only way of decreasing pollution in Transport sector is by developing CARFREE INFRASTRUCTURE. As long as you travel in a 2Ton piece of metal, you will never save Earth.

Yes, I am enjoying this series. You both have a very good knowledge of subject matter, your presentation shows your study. All n all it's a treat to watch you together.
My calculation is I will buy my first car with ICE engine and use it for atleast 4 to 5 years and then I will move forward to EVs and I assume by the time I prepare for buying an EV there would be much improved EV charging infrastructure, EV cars being made using renewable energy sources and also the electricity produced are more from renewable sources. I hope that happens.🙏
For alternate fuel there are 2 solutions - 1. Have patience atleast 10-15yrs to get stable alternative solutions 2. Mix of all the alternative solutions have to work - EV, H2O2, Solid state, etc. Plus lot of public transport utilization. For now i think, each car should be accompanied by a solar panel setup to charge it. Even if the cost goes higher but we can't affort a pollution making unit and sell it for the name of green.
As of now Lithium is used in much higher percentage in mobiles and laptops than cars. In future batteries from cars can be recycled and lithium, cobalt can be extracted by upto 80%. Tata Nexon uses LFP batteries and no cobalt or Nickel. Whereas MG used NMC batteries which contain nickel and cobalt, both of which are supply-constrained and expensive. Human rights and environmental concerns have been raised concerning the use of cobalt. Environmental concerns have also been raised regarding the extraction of nickel.
This is probably the most thoughtful discussion on EV - thanks for highlighting such an important issue & bringing to the knowledge of the general public. Before this discussion I use to think EV was so clean & environment friendly, but not anymore. It’s better to use ICE cars at the moment & wait for a cleaner & greener vehicle!
Lol ev is still better than petrol and diesel, crude oil refining take massive electricity , and shipping it pollute like 2x than ev material ,and then when you burn it again pollute so ev is better from start
@@RahulJha-mc6nz i would very much disagree with that but there no point in arguing. I would ask you to do your research first before making such ignorant statements.
Namaskar to Both of you. This topic is quite gigantic in its nature. As far as pollution is concerned, around the earth, is human created under the name of so called development, which is failing around us and we are looking like " ab wo kharab hogay, chalo usko mitane ke liye kuch naya karte hi" I can go on and on....However, looking in to this EV issue, I think, Hydrogen-Electric Hybrid vehicle will be the best, long lasting, environ friendly solution for this.

Let's assume battery prices are going down every year. But electricity charges will keep on increasing & so would be the cost of charging. Plus you would be paying atleast 35-40% more for buying an EV over Petrol/Diesal Cars. Eg. Petrol Car cost ₹10 lacs, same EV Car will cost you ₹14 lacs. Considering Petrol car gives you 14-15 kms/litre. So for 1 lac kms. it would cost 6 lacs. Also got to consider electricity Unit charges for Battery Charging per KW, battery cells & complete replacement costs. Kan idhar se pakdo yah udhar se 1 lac kms cost toh same aayega. EV + charging expense & Petrol Car + fuel cost for 5 years or 1 lac kms. tak Petrol dalo amount same ho jayega. Yeh baniya hisab hai.
Sir above all this conversion I have quotation that now is it profitable to invest in ev charging station business at present Another question is how beneficial will it be to invest in bio diesel pump and flex fuel

Good morning Vikas, please get in to more in depth comparison of right from the extraction of crude oil to the fuel tank of a car & extraction of these precious metal to the battery pack. These are some points you missed in this video.
Oil rigs alao run by burning petroleum. Oil is then shipped regularly through diesel ships. Oil refineries also pollutes on their own. Then oil tankers which bring petrol/diesel to petrol pumps also pollute. So it's not only vehicles polluting in the cities but also the whole oil supply chain
To generate solar electricity you need solar panels for which again you need heavy metals. And most of the equipments in this infra is still working but once they will be expired they will be very hazardous during recycling process and again western countries will setup recycling infra in developing or under-developed countries destroying their environment and then will impose tarrif for "not following" environment norms.
so in nutshell, EV cars are not that environment friendly as for now, but after 10-15 years companies will find better way to make it and that time it will be better choice.
Ethonal coming from agriculture is not green at all, the amount of fertilizers, pesticides, water it needs makes it a polluting source and also the amount of energy we put into growing it is less than the amount of energy we get from it. Also forest cover is getting reduced example of this would be Brazil cutting down amazon forest for ethonal production and then saying we use green fuel.
I agree with the pollution part across the entire life cycle but if we have to move to some alternate mean for transportation, we will have to go through all this process (mining, batteries, electricity etc.) before we land to something less pollution generating. One can’t reach 100% all of sudden just like that. There might be better and cleaner alternate in future as more research is encouraged.
