거침없는 기세로 나아가는 TEMPEST의 세 번째 미니 앨범 [ON and ON]

- 템페스트가 만들어낼 ‘새로운 세계’와 더 높이 날아오를 ‘꿈’에 관한 이야기
- 청춘 그 자체! 템페스트가 직접 전하는 ‘용기+희망+구원’ 서사
- “소년미+성숙미” 템페스트만의 컬러를 확실히 보여줄 ‘단짠단짠’ 트랙
지난 8월, 두 번째 미니 앨범 [SHINING UP]을 통해 초동 7만 장 이상의 앨범 판매고와 음원 차트 최상위권 진입, 음악방 송 1위 후보 등 더욱 다채로운 기록을 경신했던 템페스트가 세 번째 미니 앨범 [ON and ON]으로 2개월 만 초고속 컴백을 알리며 거침없는 성장세를 이어간다.
현재에 안주하지 않고 꿈을 향해 비상(飛上)하겠다는 포부를 드러낸 세 번째 미니 앨범 [ON and ON]은 ‘우리’가 함께 만 든 새로운 세계로 쉬지 않고 나아가겠다는 템페스트의 강력한 의지를 담았다. 총 4곡이 수록된 이번 앨범에는 서로에게 용 기와 구원이 되어주는 ‘우리’의 존재를 노래하며, 더 넓은 세계로 거침없이 나아가고자 하는 템페스트의 이야기가 고스란 히 담겨 있다. 멤버 LEW와 화랑이 타이틀곡 및 수록곡 작사에 참여해 이와 같은 템페스트만의 서사를 공고히 했음은 물론, 지난 앨범에 이어 템페스트가 가진 ‘소년미’와 ‘성숙미’를 동시에 드러내는 트랙들이 눈길을 끈다.
타이틀곡 ‘Dragon'은 강렬한 사운드가 인상적인 Hybrid Trap 장르의 곡으로, 더욱 높이 날아오르는 용의 모습을 ’꿈’에 빗대어 표현한 곡이다. “Dragon 날아 fly high / 기세를 몰아 높이 날아올라 / 휘몰아친 열기 / 턱 끝까지 넘친 숨 거침없 이” 가사에 한층 더 성숙해진 소년들의 거침없는 포부와 기세를 담았다.
여기에, 파티를 즐기는 듯한 밝은 분위기와 템페스트의 소년미가 돋보이는 ‘Taste The Feeling’, 사랑에 빠진 마음을 둘 만의 암호로 재치 있게 표현한 ‘Loving Number’, 템페스트가 꿈을 향해 비상(飛上)하게 된 이야기를 담은 ‘Raise Me Up’이 더해져 템페스트표 청량함과 풋풋한 청춘 에너지의 정석을 보여준다.
3월 데뷔 이후, 활발한 활동을 이어가며 2022년을 대표하는 신인 아이돌로 자리매김 중인 템페스트는 한층 더 성숙해진 비주얼과 대체 불가 퍼포먼스로 글로벌 K-POP 팬들에게 그 존재감을 확실히 각인시킬 예정이다.
