@@Byrdie77 None of what she said was negative towards service animals. This was all about ESAs. There is no need to defend service animals here. Everyone here understands that service animals are an absolute necessity to their owners. That is why they are service animals in the first place. ESAs are NOT service animals and are strictly for emotional and mental support to their owners. Not so that you can bring them anywhere. Just so they can help with your emotional needs. Hence, they are called EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS. They are not a threat to service animals. No one is bashing service animals.

Thank you. My baby died three months ago. I fell into deep depression. My son recently got a dog. The first time I held him I cried for hours. This was a healing moment for me. Last week our family welcomed a fur baby. Although I has been challenging because I loved him instantly, I’m glad he’s the opposite of my Jazz. I did honor Jazz by using the first letter in his name for my new baby. I canceled a family outing because the hotel we book was not pet friendly. My son suggested registering him as an emotional support dog. Thanks for the guidance. Sorry for the long comment. I’m still adjusting.

Just so you know I think you need a service dog not a ESA service dogs are for depression to just do get a ID, Certificate or paperwork all you need is a doctors note visit a RUclips channel called the service mutt or just tipe in the search bar service dog vs ESA or my service dog dose not have paper work

letters from online sources like myesadoctor are fraudulent and not legally valid as per HUD jan 2020 guidelines. you need to take this video down. to be valid there needs a long term doctor patient relationship with a history of ongoing care...1 or 2 quickie consults does not count. it takes HOURS to evaluate and determine the need over numerous appointments...at least 2 eval appointments (initial and follow up) and a few treatment appointments before an ESA can even be considered.....really at least 6 treatment appointments.

Thank you, my doctor gave me a letter saying my dog can be my esa because I would benefit from it greatly for my emotional health and once I got home I couldn't figure out what to do with the letter. I thought she needed registered with it somehow and called all around. Thanks for explaining that all I needed was the letter! I had no idea and you saved me a lot of anxiety! Thank you!

I just got my first cavalier to be my ESA! He’s a Black and Tan, and I named him after Milton’s boyfriend, Romeo. I live in a college town with college student housing and I’m kind of self conscious because I think people will judge me for having one because pets aren’t allowed and very little people have ESA’s. But you gave me the courage to get one despite that and hopefully I’ll get over my self conscious fears! Thank you 🐶

Firstly, your ESA furbabies are so beautiful and precious. I loved watching this video and is definitely am in need of a ESA myself and am going to be looking into getting one for myself. I hope and pray that you are doing well and they continue serving you with whatever you are going through. You cannot get approved online within an hour. You have to get a letter from a licensed therapist, etc that has actual experience knowing your mental health.
So I was about to get scammed lol glad I looked it up 😭 thank you!

I have autism and have severe meltdowns (never violent, but extreme in some cases) and my cat always jumps on my lap and just stays there until I calm down or can breathe. So glad I got him registered before I get him trained to become a service animal.
I must say. I clicked on this video out of instinct and went into it a little angry. But you provided good and true legal information. The registries are scams yes! And there is a difference between esa and service dogs, you phrased this so nicely! Thankyou! The only thing I would like to add, is ESAs don't have public access rights other than pet friendly places, but you so gracefully worded this video and I wanted to say thank you :)

When I got out of the Marines in 2006, life was really difficult for a while. After 11 months I got my first dog. He was a black Lab/Rottweiler mix named Boomer. Life slowly improved after. He was my emotional support animal, even though it wasn't official from any doctor. He died a few months ago at 14 years old, and it was the worst day of my life having to have him put down. I couldn't go back to an empty home so I went back to work and I knew I couldn't not have a dog. On July 1st I took home a Chocolate Lab named Vladimir. I just submitted the application to have my dog officially an ESA via the link in the description. Having that letter of approval would mean a lot to me and make me feel even more secure in taking my dog places outside the home. Thanks for the information and I'm hoping for an approval soon.

Hey no you have to train her to be a service dog not a ESA the only thing that you have to have to prove that you’re service dog is a service dog is a doctor note but people can not ask for that or it is disermamaing.

A service dog or mini horse
Is task trained to migrate a disability or disabilities. A service animal (only a dog or mini horse) doesn’t need to be registered at lest in the USA I’m not sure about other countries
A Emotional support animal can be any animal of reason. Just having the animal near gives you comfort. Does not need to be trained in any way. Normally to one person. Again doesn’t need to be registered at least in the USA I’m not sure about other countries.
Therapy dog is a dog that is trained and certified to go in to establishments (normally schools, nursing homes, and hospitals) to give comfort to multiple people.
I’m in the USA I know the laws in the United States Of America. And my state.

This website is trustful. At the first moment, I was wondering how long it will take. But when I called them they tried to help me to contact with a doctor quickly, and I got the pdf document with via email. I glad to know this good information c: !

I need an emotional support animal. Ever since covid-19 occurred, it went downhill very fast, until physically, and emotionally, i was at the bottom. I thought there was no way back up. So (CLOUDY AND A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS REFERENCE INCOMING!) i stared at deafeat. And found hope. ESA's.
If you feel like you need one if these, have it become your main priority, you may feel that there's no way out of depression, and that it only goes downhill from there, but this is not true.
If you feel like you need something to help you push yourself in the right direction, help yourself.

I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression in 2017 by my doctor at the time and recently decided to ask about getting a letter to have an emotional support animal to help with my anxiety and depression. My old doctor left so I have a new doctor and she told me that because I didn’t go on antidepressants and anxiety meds in 2017 when I got the diagnosis that my diagnosis had expired and that I need a new diagnosis and she referred me to a nearby therapist. She said she couldn’t diagnose me with anxiety and depression, the therapist has to. I didn’t know that a diagnosis could expire like bread, that was news to me 👀

That's amazing! I have pets for my son who suffers from his disease. His pets really do provide his emotional support. They are very well trained and can always tell when he is getting to hyper from his condition. I've had may ppl share their negatives, without knowing his full story. If that's the case, find a trainer, and train them as actual service animals. It will help your son, and it will also help you avoid the gigantic fraud that is emotional support animal certification. It carries literally no force of law whatsoever anywhere in the United States. I honestly don't know how these companies are allowed to stay in business. They sell fraudulent documents for a living. If they were making fake IDs, they would be put out of business. I don't get it.

I lost my childhood best friend my chihuahua, from 13-24 . I got a GSD and he comforts me when I think of bugs . Losing my best friend hurt . But Bennett my GSD he knows when I’m sad and he makes it all better by comforting me and making me feel okay again .

Thank you SOOO much. I was so confused about this topic. People can be so judgmental. You're babies are yours and are there for you. We not only need them, but we DO NOT deserve them. They are precious and can never be replaced.
I am SO glad she added the phrase "if you have a disability". So many of us love pets, and miss them when they aren't around. That isn't enough to qualify. Sometimes I'm nervous, but that alone doesn't qualify. Pets have been shown to lower blood pressure, but that's for almost everyone. That alone doesn't qualify. Permit me though for questioning the video poster here, the note from your family physician says you need 2 dogs when flying? That seems odd to me. You have a disability related to flying, but just one dog wouldn't give you adequate comfort? Suppose one dog ran away. Would you be required to get another so you could have adequate comfort? Otherwise, if you got by with one, then whoever said you needed two must have been wrong?
Here in the state of Ohio, in the US, a ESA dog falls under the same category as a registered service dog. Not sure all states are like that and this has been a recent change. Thought you would want to know.

Sky Carl under the ADA Laws Ada emotional support animal is not a service animal under federal law emotional support animal it's not a service animal just to let you know a lawyer will tell you this a federal judge will tell you this you bring an emotional support animal into a grocery store you will be violating the law once again emotional support animal under the ADA Laws it's not recognized as a service animal

I used the site she left. And it worked for me and was very easy.
I just moved in with my mum because she can't take care of herself. She lives in a condo, the association has rules on type and size of dog you can have if you own or rent. I have a dog that doesn't comply. She is for my emotional health. I didn't want to get kicked out or her taken away. Plus, I honestly couldnt survive without her. So I paid $99.99, talked to a Dr and got the letter the same day. It is what you need under federal law so you can have your animal in your home without issue. I'm not trying to take her to a store or anything like that. If I went to the Dr I've been to before I have to pay $100 for the visit so either way for me it would have been that much. Now I don't need to worry about it. I did read all of the federal laws on service and esa to know the difference and what I needed for my situation. On that site, the things it says are correct about an esa. Hope this helps.

Since I’m getting a puppy and I have terrible anxiety especially when I’m driving since I got into a really bad car accident in the beginning of the year. So I’m always uneasy when I’m driving. As well as a dog can help me keep calm when I’m having an Anger Episode. So thanks for the video
Im in the process of getting my dog as an emotional support dog. It's going to be a while since i just started the journey with getting under the right professional to help me, but i hope it works out well. In the past, I've definitely had pets that were that for me, but because they weren't registered, they were never allowed to go places otherwise with me, but still did so much despite. Hopefully, I'll be able to make it official going forward for my new pup and get her tye training sye needs to overall behave in certain situations.

Also a friendly reminder that ESA’s don’t have public access, and are not the same thing as service dogs. They only have housing access if you have a doctors note from your therapist or doctor.
I use this today and I got a call within 15 minutes and got approved after a five minute call. Got my letter 15 minutes after the call. $120

i'm 22 but i have CKD and my blood pressure was INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE. they said it was a mircale i hadn't had multiple strokes or a heart attack. i was on five medicines now just one pill a day. My cat helps a lot and knows when i'm unwell. She'll lay with/on me and my BP drops to a safer level in no time. but i just can't afford uncontrolled pet rent AND pet fees in ADDITION to regular rent and a regular security deposit. I don't think most people can. i feel like lately people think people with ESA's are mostly those who just want to get around rules and fees with their animals. but in many cases the fees ARE a true burden or unreasonable, or these ESAs are helping with medical issues like mine that don't necessarily qualify for a service animal, or for people like me who can't afford to have their animal trained or be certified as a service animal.

I had to go to a therapist IN PERSON for 6+ months for her to determine whether or not I needed an ESA. She wouldn’t write my letter until then. Getting a letter from an hour or less appt online… idk man. There is no way to be able to diagnose someone’s mental status and eligibility for an ESA based off that. Everyone seems to be jumping on it now. Go through the hoops people. Don’t cheapen it for people who went through the actual process of going to see a therapist.

My therapist doesn't like the idea of me getting my pet registered as an ESA, because they feel as if i haven't improved with therapy itself, and I refuse to take medication due to bad past experiences. Although what I deal with is a big burden, it's not something that REQUIRES medication like schizophrenia. The thing is, I go to my therapist because of my crippling anxiety and DID, and even after a year of therapy I have made no improvement. When I bring my ESA-to-be with me in public places that allow pets (since I can't take them elsewhere), it's like my anxiety vanishes. I can actually talk to people and feel confident in myself. Having my attention on the animal also keeps me from dissociating as often, which also makes it easier for me to be social. Even in a non-social setting, they help me with the daily anxiety that I struggle with. They helped me through my depression, too. It's like they are the only thing that actually helps. The thought of taking medication makes my fear worse, and therapy has helped me none. Is there a way I could get them registered legally without going to doctors that I already see? The animal in question is a cockatiel, so it's not big and doesn't bark or make big messes on floors, it's just a small bird.

You were also scammed I’m sorry. Please redo you research. You cannot get a legit letter online. It has to be your treating provider only.
Emotional support animals that have anywhere near the same rights as service animals. Hotels do not emotional support animals that have anywhere near the same rights as service animals but according to the ADA you cannot even ask someone for proof that the pet is an ESA nor can they ask why you have one. The letter might help get you into a hotel or maybe a plane that don't have to allow you in with an ESA. BIG difference between the two.
I have an emotional support animal it’s my ferret because I had a ferret when I was younger so I talked to my family doctor I had since birth and he knows me well and he wrote one instantly!! I feel much safer and calmer. 😊

no none of this online stuff is legit unfortunately. your vetter off making your own letter .. has to be a real therapist and they have to Diagnose you.. its not as simple as telling them you have depression or what ever the case may be.. even if you are they still have to determine it.. kinda stupid cuz how are you going to judge how im feeling.. but they ultimately cant. so as long as you basically tell them your animals help you not be depressed or what ever they have to sign off on them because it helps w your medical ability. they tried putting me on pills and keep seeing a therapist before they signed off in it but i told them i couldnt afford the vist and i dont believe in destroying my temple. so just get a therapist.. dont make it seem like thats all you are there for or you wont get it. you have to go thru the vists at least a couple times

Yes! I talk to my therapist about it and she talks to my psychiatrist and I am in the process of getting one:)
An ESA isn't a Service animal and isn't allowed everywhere. They do not have the same rights as a Service animal. There is no certification for it. A doctors note is required

I have a question do I need to get the letter from therapist first and submit to landlord first or I can get the dog first and than give them the letter if they question why I have a dog and there is no pet policy in the complex. I know we qualify for it based on the therapist recommendation.

I have my puppy girl who has been sleeping in my bed since she was able to be held in my hands and now she is a chonker. She is a big girl (Lab) at least 100+ pounds. She is the only thing in my life that even cares about me it seems. We ended up sleeping in my car homeless for a while because I could not get a place within my budget that would allow her since she is way over normal weight limits for any apartments I looked at or houses within my budget refused a dog. After looking for ages I finally resorted to being forced to lie to a landlord by saying I do not have an animal. Now the property management company which took over the property has found out about my girl and wants me to remove her. I need this ESA I cannot do it without my girl and we will just be homeless again. I cannot afford to make a mistake and not get my girl approved. I also cannot give her up, she is everything to me. Please help.
