I can attest to the straight bar working your upper wrist. After tabletime if I use the curl bar I feel most of the force is applied to the area of my palm right under my index finger. I attributed it to being unable to naturally supinate our wrists far enough to be level with the bar, because of this mobility restriction the emphasis is placed on the outer wrist. Feels great though!

ive always had luck training my top two fingers with a high up pulley stack and a d ring handle with a fat grip on it, keeps my elbow angle tight and forces me to wrist curl down through my upper fingers.

Cool video and thanks for your thoughts on wrist curls!!!
    Hey Bob,
could you make a video specificly on the refs grip. We had a tournement in the weekend. Normaly we pull in pubs and clubs with our local refrees. And everything is fine. But this time we had WAF refs. Katja from Italy for exampel. I m sure you know her. I lost one match normal. And three lost on fouls (Normally I place on the podium in the amateur class, I lost against weaker clubmates also, which is specially anoying). I was totally not used to the extrem strict refreeing. Ellbow fouls of the pad because of backpressure, Ellbow fouls regriping (ellbow in the air). The pads were hard though. But I guess I have to live with it and get smarter.
But there were also like THREE fouls of mine moving in ref grip!!! And I really felt I would NOT move anything at all. And I really feel betrayed! This also happend to other contender and they were like what the fuck??!!!
I mean sorry how do you know as a ref who moves? Maybe the other guy moves a little backward, it could be taxed as cuping of the other guy?!!
Answer would be appreciated a lot!! I mean I consider not go to any tournement with this in my opinion silly WAF refing. Imagine your go some where on the other side of the world and you just lose on fouls the first two rounds... That's just BS!!!
Katja told me I have to have a relaxed hand in the refs grip... So I am not even allowed to squeze my and a little bit? I like to do that especially in the straps...

Just keep your arm and body tensed up but allow your hand to be somewhat relaxed. ESPECIALLY when the ref is holding your fingers. Once they aren’t touching your fingers you can get away with a bit of tension, but no hard squeezing until the go.

  • @Torsdagskvallsmys

Thats not exactly true, becuse if you move your grip from the center to the end the gripbar you will notice the same effect as you are holding a big bar with two hands
