    Correction to the stats at 6:50!
    The stat breakpoints we will hit with this meldset are actually 4831 Gathering & Perception for the max value on the collectable skill. The high-end breakpoint *is* 5085, but we don't hit that as it's just the Proc chance for skills that get boosted. Once the new left side gear is out in 7.1, we'll be able to hit that.
    For this video and the Recommended meldset, the correct stats you'll get to without food:
    5031 Gathering
    4834 Perception
    938 GP
    With Nasi Goreng:
    5111 Gathering
    4834 Perception
    994 GP

    Yeah, I had some interest in pentamelding initially, but when I realized how much work it was going to be I just.... didn't feel invested enough to put in the work. At the moment, I've got all base slots filled, and one overmeld slot filled with rank 10 materia mass-purchased from my island sanctuary. It ain't much, but it also didn't take me an eon for upgrades I'll probably never use.

    Great video!
    Personally, I used old materia i had available to hit some breakpoints and filled with whatever just to start farming spritbond. Probably not as fast as this yet, but it hasn't cost me anything so far and I can nearly re-meld my current gear with materia gained from spiritbonding I do get.
    Granted it won't be as fast and as profitable as this but if you're not chasing the fastest method off the bat and want a place to start to get the high tier melds you need for this I still recommend it.

    Unless each new legendary node has increased bonding rates, it really should just be a flat line across the expansion.
    Alternatively collecting materia at the end of EW was much much easier by using as much of the lowest level 90 gear as you could while being able to gather the nodes. I was getting like 40-50% bonding per node using the integrity recovery skill three times.

      pentamelding will help with speed of spiritbonding and as far as I know, you can melt any materia into it, get something very cheap, even from Battlemateria. Still need to clear the perception checks to harvest the nodes, guess for the endwalker nodes that wont be an issue with basic lvl 100 gathering gear, the DT nodes require some lvl 12 perception materia+food already. Of course you wont be as efficient but it still works

    So there is no question that gathering spiritbond is better than the old ways. Anyone questioning it really needs to understand that it is now following the battle materia system, which is superior in all ways to what we were doing, which was purely ilvl based shenanigans, that made any node below max level useless for spiritbonding, and just a waste of item durability. This makes even the permanently available collectable nodes viable. I wouldn't do them unless bored or my gear wasn't major melded, but they are viable still. I got so much more materia leveling than I did when I went from ShBr into EW, and I had the same set up going into it, with maxed pentamelded and fully completed relics.
    Now the question about legendaries in EW is different. I am at work so can't look at the star levels of the EW nodes, but I know that 2 stars = 4-5 levels in the internal level system for gathering nodes. So a lvl 90 two star is actually level 94/95, with the special benefits of being legendary on top of that. It shouldn't be overall better or equal to the DT 1 star, which should act like hitting a level 101/102 node for Spiritbonding purposes, but it could be a quirk with the change over, since the ilvl difference in legendaries was drastically different than the lvl differences. So maybe to compensate for the change in EW going to DT, it could just be that they buffed EW nodes? Still a net positive, even if our rotations are now nerve-rackingly tight.

    • @fenikkusu4893
      @fenikkusu4893 Месяц назад +2

      Small noob question. How is it better than the old ways? You could spiritbound in EW after 2-3 Nodes, with like ~4% spiritbound per swing. Now its ~1,5% per swing. I understand that you now can harvest legendary EW nodes for extra spiritbound, but that would make it a lot more stressful for all those 6 minute windows and probably could not reach the speed how fast we spiritbounded in EW.

    • @darkmindaustin
      @darkmindaustin Месяц назад +2

      @@fenikkusu4893 So, firstly, you are doing math off the end of expac. That was not the speed at which you were spiritbonding during the beginning of EW. Second, you are only looking at the math in the old way, such as the fact that because of the ilvl based way of spiritbonding, once you hit the second tier of crafted gear, basic 85 nodes and even the 90 nodes stopped giving significant spiritbonding. So gathering for sets was simply not giving spiritbonding other than the legendary nodes, which you rarely needed the amounts we used to gather for spiritbonding, effectively killing the market, and making us have to work even harder to spiritbond. Now, even when we get to the final tier of crafted set, gathering a level 95 normal node will provide the same amount of spiritbonding as when we were wearing the base 100 gear. This is a vast improvement to our actual speed of spiritbonding overall.
      Now, for right now, yes, it is in a weird space, and I think that is why they did what they did with the 90 2 star leggos. That, and everyone is in that old mindset that has been ingrained in our psyche since 2.0, which is that ONLY legendaries/high collectables give spiritbonding.
      Edit: I wanted to add one thing, and this is more hypothetical and will need to be tested once the relic weapons are released... and that will be if their vast superiority in quality causes them to overwhelm the lvl situation. Much like stars on a node improve the spiritbonding potential because it is treated as a higher level internally, the relic's quality acts in the same way. They were always better for spiritbonding because their ilvl meant that everything was within their range of spiritbonding outside of the normal nodes.

    • @TenelenTheScrub
      @TenelenTheScrub  Месяц назад +1

      Your talk on the EW nodes is exactly where I thought as well, but it doesn't even matter *which* item you gather. 1 or 2 star, the amount of Spiritbond doesn't change. It's definitely some weird quirk, but I hope it was intended because I like this!

    • @darkmindaustin
      @darkmindaustin Месяц назад +1

      @@TenelenTheScrub It has to be intended then, since, well, it kinda promotes a degenerate level of cycling, which they tend to nerf heavily after awhile. We shall see when the second set of leggos come out!

    • @fenikkusu4893
      @fenikkusu4893 Месяц назад +2

      @@darkmindaustin Sorry If my english sucks, its not my native language, but I love to discuss about those topics.
      For Endwalker I had different Sets for spiritbounding, so normal Lv90 nodes wouldnt be a problem. Farmed a ton of the Ultima Thule Mats with basic 90 gear to use them for crafter materia spiritbonding and then scripts and 1 node was like 0,7%-1%. Thats not really a difference to what we get now with the basic 100 set at endgame nodes. And I still remember that basic 90 gear got like 3% per swing at the first legendary nodes. Only difference is, that there were only those 6 nodes and you couldnt use the Shb nodes to spiritbond. Now with the 1,5% per swing and using EW nodes it kinda avarages out in my opnion. (and adds a lot more stress).
      Basic 90 Gear with green weapons for example were totally fine to hit a lot of legendary nodes and spiritbond super fast. Just 10 at at time, but 260+ materia were super easy to get in the 3hr span of the Potion .Guess that will be viable again in DT but probably with less % per swing. Yes I know, not everyone could have the luxuray and space to keep different sets.
      And one question of understanding. Wasnt the change to spiritbonding, that they would not look at individual pieces of gear for Gearscore, but the Gearscore as a whole? Or was the translation of the patchnotes in my language missleading? Because if its that case, the higher overall GS of new coming gear would reduce the spiritbond % of older nodes like before and its again super useful to have mix-matched Sets to spiritbound even on Tier1 legendary and basic lv100 nodes.
      And breaking the market: It will happen. You get less % per legendary node, so youre doing more legendary nodes to spiritbond. Even if the mats per se are worthless the materia will still be a nice income per hour, that a lot of people will always do. I'd rather teleport 2-3times per 6min to spiritbound at legendary nodes and watch some stuff on the second screen, instead of flying in a circle and gathering mindless at normal nodes. And even if I did that some times for a lot of mats, I changeed my Gear to an older set and spiritbound the 0,7-1% per node like usual.
      So, without being rude. For me, who always had different Sets for spiritbonding, even basic 90 nodes, it doesnt change a lot, besides getting less % on individual legendary nodes, which feels worse than EW. To counteract that, I have to do more nodes which is more stressful and breaks the market value of the mats even more. The upside would be not having different Sets(I pentamelded them anyways, so why not keep using them?) and the possibilty to gather normal nodes with the best Set later on which I rarely did anyways.
      After thinking about it, I personally preferred the old way of spiritbonding. Cheers
      Edit: More nodes mean more teleports, that will cost more Gil or teleport tickets which then has to be aquired as well or substracted from the overall profit if teleporting with gil.

    • @TenelenTheScrub
      @TenelenTheScrub  11 дней назад

      The change in 7.05 was actually a fix to an unintentional change that happened in 7.0.
      +spiritbond buffs were only actually maxing out at +2, which is lower than the past, meaning it was *easier* to hit max spiritbond (just running FC buff was enough).
      When I made this video, the community wasn't aware of this.
      The change in 7.05 made it so that gathering requires the +5 from the Spiritbond potion again, so the video is correct again, even if it was sort of wrong for about 3 weeks lol

    Is 5085 perception the minimum for getting Scour at 450 and Meticulous at 400?

    • @TenelenTheScrub
      @TenelenTheScrub  Месяц назад +1

      Sorry, no I made a mistake! The pinned comment has the correct stats. The 5085 is to get the max Methodical or Intuition collectable procs, but we don't hit that stat block yet.
      You only need 4831 Gathering & Perception for the 450 and 400 Scour hits

    Not going back to EW. Those mats don’t sell. I rather farm the DT items and take a few minutes longer knowing I can sell what I am farming.

      EW makes a bit more gil, but it's less forgiving in terms of time. DT also gives orange scrips which is nice. Do whatever one you find more enjoyable

    Where does it say gathering maxes out at +5 spiritbond gain bonus? Genuinely curious cause that seems so random.

    • @TenelenTheScrub
      @TenelenTheScrub  Месяц назад

      It's not said in game as far as I'm aware, it's just from testing and a general rule of thumb that we have to make sure everybody knows, unfortunately. You can find it on a few of the wikis, but with the changes in Dawntrail I made sure to double check it myself as well.
      I ran a test with:
      HQ Spiritbond
      Better Crowned Pie
      FC Spiritbond Buff
      Trying to max it out and tried this route, none of the hits were any higher than when I just used the potion. It is definitely weird, and I don't know why it is this way though...

      @@TenelenTheScrub Just FYI, apparently in DT it was changed so that Gathering caps at +2, not +5. Or, at least, that's what the Balance told me when I was asked about it. The info is on icy-veins as well.

    Rip gil - following this guide done pentmelding just realize its still not the 960 gp set you want. The meme on me for sleeping though, just be aware - you might wanna skip this and go straight for the 960 set for +2

    • @TenelenTheScrub
      @TenelenTheScrub  Месяц назад

      If you've got a budget build with around 910 GP, just throw on some of the new GP food (Nasi Goreng) to hit 960 and this will count to hit the +2 integrity. You can use this method to farm out some more materia for yourself even with a budget set, and then fix up your melds in the future!

    • @kbaeve
      @kbaeve Месяц назад

      @@TenelenTheScrub yea with food is ok. However, this meldset goes way too hard on gathering skill it seems, idk what requires that high gathering? Could skip a lot of the gathering to hit 960GP and 4907 (?) perception

    • @TenelenTheScrub
      @TenelenTheScrub  21 день назад

      Definitely! At least last weekend when I was looking at the prices of materia, they are still relatively high! Not nearly as insane as the start of the expansion, but it's still a good way to make some gil, and people will need more materia again in future patches.

      @@TenelenTheScrub ok little follow up question. got the gear all sorted out and started farming. do you think it would be in my best interest to just hoard all this materia or just sell it now? i’m wondering what the prices generally look like when next raid tier comes out, etc. also when will this current set of bis gathering gear be replaced? (never played start of expansion sorry for questions)

    • @TenelenTheScrub
      @TenelenTheScrub  17 дней назад +1

      @@wind_tempos You're all good!
      My personal strategy: Sell half, keep half. You're going to probably want some when new gear gets out, so it's a good idea to keep some for yourself, but if the prices spike like crazy at a new patch then you call always sell for a good price and farm more for yourself then too.
      It covers you in the way that no matter the price movements, you can take advantage of a middle ground and not regret it if the price crashes.
      As for patch cycles and new gear, check out this video I made on it:
