It's literally a song about someone justifying genocide/eugenics. It talks about how life is cruel and unpredictable, how that is a sad truth that you must accept, how you must be strong to fight against this, and then slips in that sinister analogy that you have to pluck all wilted flowers to get beautiful wreath. It reflects what's going on in the show where they run a school where everyone is in constant competition to get the most powerful people to the top and cull the weak ones.
It's crazy how they managed to sneak all of that in through layers of translations and symbolism, all to give the single most Present anime antagonist a shockingly blatant and intimidating form of foreshadowing. Kill La Kill is an amazing anime that somehow flourished with next to no budget
Lisann K How so? It's not really "offensive." Nazis surely were in the wrong in eyes of many, but he/she is referring to the feeling it gives off. Though it may be wrong to correlate the words german and nazi, I assume there was no offense meant behind it.
@@lucidd_world5586 Lucidd_ World I mean I am not really offended by it, but they did literally say it is Nazi-esque, just because the language is german. I know that for obvious reasons the image of Nazis is strongly bound to Germany( especially when you think about Hitler) , but the problem is that the Japanese accent is so strong in the song that even Germans can't understand the lyrics. I know that many songs try to create the feeling that a song is Nazi-esque feeling by using German in the lyrics or making it sound german, but this song just doesn't sound German at all. So I think it could rather be taken as offensive.
at first the lyrics sound positive, telling you to bloom, like a flower... but what's a flower, something that lives only because someone else feels your worth looking at.
Hey everyone, thanks for watching! I've seen a few comments calling the song very 'optimistic.' It's a Life Fibers brain-washing song, so yes, I suppose you have to sound optimistic when you're trying to convince someone to join your army so they can take over the world for you. You can think of this as the Life Fibers' first meeting with Ragyo, telling her 'you're the only one who can change this world.' Which is kind of messed up since everyone else in the show is fine with the world they live in. You have to be nice, how else is anyone supposed to join your cult? Hope that makes sense.
This song always sounded to me more like Ragyo taunting Satsuki. The lines "For the first time in forever you're alive, don't you forget that," "Cruel and wicked life, how it hurts you deep inside; Cold and vicious life, how you wish to make it right," "Will you stand and fight, for the war has just begun, and there's nowhere left to run," all give it that kind of cruel, sarcastic connotation to me. All the imagery about planting gardens, wilting flowers, wiping away tears... yeah. That's super creepy and horrible coming from Ragyo. Telling Satsuki that she's got the power in her hands, well, I guess even evil rapist moms want to encourage their kids. But I like Sapphire's interpretation too. The Life Fibers just want us to look fabulous! There's nothing to fear, nothing at all.
It just occured to me. "A floral crown for you my dear" Is that implying that where Ragyo was encouraging her daughter to flourish, other dreams and lives were merely harvested and collected as a token for the chosen? This translation is ever so helpful in understanding the symbolism of this song.
"There's no room for wilting flowers here" I'm terrible at articulating stuff but I think the symbolism with this line and the one you quoted is somewhat obvious
I find it neat how, at the beginning, the topic being discussed in class was about WWII, specially Germany, and how the lyrics of the main antagonist are also in German. Gives me the sorta vibe saying, "Hey, this bitch is basically Hitler but also working with extraterrestrial parasites."

Nah, show says you get more power the more the kamui covers you, which is why ryoko's covers so little, since it's designed to ensure the wearer retains control, whereas junketsu covers a lot more, so it gives the wearer more power, but is harder to control, and finally, ragyo's who is already one with the life fibers, wears a really big kamui that covers her almost completely, so she gets even more power, and the control doesn't matter since the life fibers are already controlling her. We also see this when ryoko's wearing junketsu and being controlled it covers even more than it usually does for satsuki.

The cover definitely express Raygo's ambition. The 'Darling' part is pure genius. It's so powerful I thought you were enforcing her future goals to take over the world! x'D
Yes, I guessed that from the title. I mean she has a very distinct voice in the way that Utada was the voice of Kingdom Hearts. And that I could imagine a new franchise in which Sapphire sings the main title theme and it reaches the same level of notoriety.
Holy shit, the combination of your incredible voice and the word choice for the lyrics is PERFECT for what is the theme of Ragyo. A deadly concoction of beauty and eeriness with a dash of power. Truly and utterly sublime, I legit get goosebumps listening to this! I can practically feel Ragyo's gaze piercing my soul!
It's rare for me to say that the cover surpasses the original, but you have earned it. Subbed, favorited, and my heartfelt praises for your efforts. I'm so glad I found this channel. Now to binge watch every single song.
I had no idea this song was tied to Kill la Kill. I found this song by accident and my brain actually attached it to Horizon Zero Dawn with the thought of how it matches how Aloy had to constantly prove herself to those around her that she was much more than they ever thought her to be. Oops lol
This is a very, very great rendition. Most translated songs sound out of sync with the original rhythm of the song, but this... You made it fit almost perfectly.
THIS IS SO AMAZING AND MOVING AND POWERFUL! Sapphire should be so so so proud of this because it is such a glorious translation of such a powerful song and brings so much of the original emotion and character to an english ear to digest, bravo bravo bravo!!!
Soothing, charismatic, and optimistic - well, that's DEFINITELY how you worm your way past mental defenses and more or less make someone your fanatical playtoy! Way to go Sapphire! This really captures that subtle menace and charisma that the original definitely implied about, well, everything!
I didn't interpret these lyrics in a negative way, but I can certainly see how it can be seen as such. It's one of those songs that can be viewed in multiple ways and no one would technically be wrong.
If you're wondering why she keeps mentioning flowers in Bluemenkranz in the anime is sung in german and Bluemen means flowers in german and Kranz means wreath so it's summed up as a propaganda song with the agenda the Flowers referring to someone who i think is nui harime because she is Associated with flowers as we clearly see and the Wreath or Cover in this matter is Ragyo evidence for this is well *Cough* Covers *Cough* also using Covers in an everyday term a to put something over, on top of, or in front of (something else) especially in order to protect, hide, or close it. : to be spread over or on top of (something). so to simplify that its a song about Ragyo being the "Cover" over Nui the flower or in our case "Life Fibers." lets break down the name Nui means to stitch Hari means Needle and me is used in a sense like third avenue so we can sum this up to Nui being the Stitcher of the blanket if so then we cant do this without breaking down Ragyo's name means Nude shape or Nude Doll kind of anticlimactic considering she was against Nudist Beach and is always saying clothing is the ultimate or something like that yet she and her children dress up like Exhibitionist ja? (Ja means yes in german get it Bluemenkranz is sung in german) and Kiryuin can be summed up as Dragon so she is the Covered Dragon kind of fits her role in the beginning she was playing off her strength but anyone notice when she asked nui to sacrifice herself the gained the most power so she was Uncovered which matches the tone of the Episode when everyone was Unveiling and Releasing they're full potential *Cough* Elite four *cough* Nudist Beach *cough* Anyways thats just how i sum up this song in a much more complicated way if you dont understand to simplify it The song and Ragyo and Nui's personality can be broken down due to they're names this goes deep into a bigger theory but i will do that sometime later
Usually I'm all about hating on english covers. Bad audio editing, terrible mixing or a plain lack of singing ability. But this, on the the hand, isn't terrible at all. Good job.
So after having strayed from Kill la Kill and returning and deciding to come back with this song, I have gotten the chills. You are an amazing singer with all the emotion and effort put into this!
When I heard this in bits and pieces you released, I wasn't sure how much your interpretation would rope me in. But after hearing how you transformed this song into something powerful in its full version, I can definitely say you've knocked this one out the park. Another fantastic cover as always, Sapphire.
These songs are way too deep and plot revealing to be used fleetingly (not to mention in different languages) in this show. This really makes me want to see a pre life fibre Ragyo story now.
I'm pretty sure there never fully was since her whole family was always waiting for the primordial life fiber and she just happened to be the next in line or something it's been a while since I've seen Kill la Kill but I think that's the jist
Instrumentally, the song is very much on-point. The fine gentlemen you hired to do the instrumental for this song did a damn good job here. The use of bongo drums here is almost genius, the noticeable addition of instruments that the original didn't have helps this cover stand as its own a little. The vocals are, as always, masterful and the mixing work is bordering on orgasmic. There are small points in the song where the song doesn't quite fit the tone of the song, but they're so minor it doesn't matter. And yeah, I know that this is supposed to be a strictly English cover, and thus so, should be sung in the English language. But at the same time, I feel the song lost something without any of the German vocals the original had. Like, to have some slight German tones within the lyrics. Anyway, really good work on this! Been waiting for this cover for months, and it has not disappointed me one bit!! Looking forward to your mini-album!
Offers unimaginable inhuman levels of power at the cost of your mental and physical health unless your a newborn infused with the lifeform or at the cost of your humanity yeah that's pretty eldritch
You've taken an already beautiful song, and made it (in my opinion) even more beautiful. Thank you so much, this is amazing and it makes me feel so many emotions.
The lyrics you use are pretty different from the version I've been singing in English over the past year or so, but I really like the revisions you've made! They make a lot more sense in terms of rhyme & rhythm, where my version tends to have to add extra eighth notes to get in certain words & my rhyming suffers for the sake of staying accurate to the original translation. While I personally feel the wording changes the nature of the song, I honestly can't complain too much; My own version of this music is a bit darker, & it's kind of nice to hear an interpretation that's more lighthearted-- & of course you have a better voice than I could ever hope to! Excellent work all around, & for those giving you grief about the creative license you've taken, I suggest they go make their own versions as well & share them with the community. Music means something different to everyone, & I think that it's great that we can all share what we feel with one another like this.
Had a hard time commenting this. I have listened to the actual song many times before and I must say. This cover literally blew me away. I feel a lot of emotion in it which I look for in a lot of music I listen to. That or music that make you feel in the moment but hey that's just me XD. But yes by far you're my favorite English cover artist and I will be looking forward to purchasing your album when it's released on Google. Keep up the amazing work.
these lyrics are really phenomenal. they perfectly capture the mood of the song, and they sound excellent. your singing is fantastic too, honestly. your voice is powerful and really enjoyable to listen to! i'll definitely be purchasing this song.
It’s a good/ manipulative song, it hits really hard for me cause I’m trans. Here’s a song that starts out positive and uplifting but then takes a complete 180 on the morality scope and says “ Not all of you are going to make it, so take what you can and dam the consequences.” I’d rather see it as a loving warning sign that inspires you to help others in their suffering to lift them up.
For me it is something very different. Divorced from the anime this song is my coming out as trans song. My life before I came out and went on hormones was "cruel and wicked" and "cold and vicious" it was like I wasn't living, I was just existing. And yeah, it does hurt to think about it. The "wilted flower" is the old me whereas now I'm alive and learning to soar. There will be struggle of course, I just need to learn that I can stand because I'm not going back to how it was. The flower crown is me coming into my womanhood so I should smile and wipe away the tears.
I remember your "Sirius" English cover from last year but I never realised that you were doing a full set of the vocal themes so this was a pleasant surprise when it popped up in my feed. I like what you've done with the lyrics, I can see the story behind them. Ragyo's a villainess who knows how to make an entrance (certainly no-one's rocked a ruff that hard since Elizabeth I) and the best of this song combines a march-like beat (will-you-stay-or-will-you-go etc.) with wide sweeps taking in her accomplishments and admiring her transformations (for the first time in forever you're alive etc.) which show a confidence that The Plan is in motion.
I think people were assuming 'translation' instead of 'cover' (myself included) when listening to this, which can be jarring. This isn't the song, but a different version with the same background music. Various lyrics and notes are different. Yes, the German version is much darker from the beginning, no denying it. This version is "plant your seeds of happiness
@@alexharo7925 The original song is in German but the singer butchered the pronunciation so hard that its easier for me to understand them here, despite english not being my first language.

Humans are just the harvest, no point in keeping wilting flowers

Yes, I guessed that from the title. I mean she has a very distinct voice in the way that Utada was the voice of Kingdom Hearts. And that I could imagine a new franchise in which Sapphire sings the main title theme and it reaches the same level of notoriety.
She should totally cover Simple and Clean/Hikari, or maybe even Sanctuary/Passion
+Lord Genghis Shawn The Ultimate Invincible those already have English versions
Lightmagician60 Yeah, so? That doesn't stop other people from covering the songs in their own style
"FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER you're alive"
now I'm imagining Ragyo, Nui and brainwashed Ryuko watching Frozen together O_o
So I guess Satsuki is the hated child lol
Something I love about songs is when you find good ones like this and you get goosebumps from how fantastic they are.
Holy shit, the combination of your incredible voice and the word choice for the lyrics is PERFECT for what is the theme of Ragyo. A deadly concoction of beauty and eeriness with a dash of power. Truly and utterly sublime, I legit get goosebumps listening to this! I can practically feel Ragyo's gaze piercing my soul!
i watched this when you first uploaded it and it still slaps 7 years later! i just rewatched kill la kill and remembered this blessing of a cover
my theory on how Ragyo's hair works: hairspray. just load of hairspray. like spend thousands of dollars at walmart, target, everything.
Mine was just life fibers woven into her hair but this is better
Glue and ground bismuth crystals.
No worries, it just works
I feel like Cloud and Ragyo would be good friends Lmao
@Wiedergeboren shhhh
It's rare for me to say that the cover surpasses the original, but you have earned it. Subbed, favorited, and my heartfelt praises for your efforts. I'm so glad I found this channel. Now to binge watch every single song.
Lowkey simping hard for her since ages ago
I had no idea this song was tied to Kill la Kill. I found this song by accident and my brain actually attached it to Horizon Zero Dawn with the thought of how it matches how Aloy had to constantly prove herself to those around her that she was much more than they ever thought her to be. Oops lol
Shame about all the eugenics in the song though
Sorry, this song is quite dark and not motivating at all. You're being deceived.
Absolutely friggin' perfect, you really got the happy-sounding-but-slightly-ominous-chills-down-spine tone of the original!
I hope that made sense...
This is a very, very great rendition.
Most translated songs sound out of sync with the original rhythm of the song, but this... You made it fit almost perfectly.
Just 5 seconds into the cover and I knew you did an amazing job. You never fail to make great covers, Sapphire. I love Kill la Kill.
THIS IS SO AMAZING AND MOVING AND POWERFUL! Sapphire should be so so so proud of this because it is such a glorious translation of such a powerful song and brings so much of the original emotion and character to an english ear to digest, bravo bravo bravo!!!
I can’t stop listening to this cover. It really uplifts me.
Soothing, charismatic, and optimistic - well, that's DEFINITELY how you worm your way past mental defenses and more or less make someone your fanatical playtoy!
Way to go Sapphire! This really captures that subtle menace and charisma that the original definitely implied about, well, everything!
Still jamming to this year's later. So beautiful
Blumenkranz has such an eerie tune, to me at least, and it makes it perfect for Halloween.
Keep on rocking, Sapphire!
This is intense. I love how it continues to build. And the vocals make it all the better! Great song, one of my new favorites from this channel.
I didn't interpret these lyrics in a negative way, but I can certainly see how it can be seen as such.
It's one of those songs that can be viewed in multiple ways and no one would technically be wrong.
The secret is called context
@@QuazarthegreatEven with the context it could be seen as a song that uses positivity to manipulate someone into their twisted cause
Finally. Would be good to see a full version of the other KLK songs too, but none the less this is great.
If you could make covers until the end of the world, that would be pretty okay.
I fucking love Kill la Kill. I fucking love you. This is perf. Thanks for the awesome covers you bring to us veiwers who love you! :D
Holy... This is one of my favorite covers of any anime song ever.
I like to think that the "wilted flower" in question is Ragyō, and the song is actually satsuki hyping herself up to fight her mother.
The Bavarian Mapper Holy shit
Another fantastic cover.

Ive been doing nothing but listening to the original version of this song all week, even mesmerized the English translations. great cover!
Didn't expected it to be this good
I always love finding a song new to me that I can replay over and over again.
Usually I'm all about hating on english covers. Bad audio editing, terrible mixing or a plain lack of singing ability. But this, on the the hand, isn't terrible at all. Good job.
TheLetterM what made you come here if you don't like English covers?
@@burmessafox3939 Probably destiny.

this still blows me away after all these years! can't get over how good this is!
I get white diamond vibes from this song.
I personally see Ragyo as closer to Yellow Diamond.

This cover is the first time I realized just how near to an Eldritch Abomination the Life Fibers are.
But they hold no candle to the gate, the key,the Yog Daddy,Yg Sothoth
Offers unimaginable inhuman levels of power at the cost of your mental and physical health unless your a newborn infused with the lifeform or at the cost of your humanity yeah that's pretty eldritch
You've taken an already beautiful song, and made it (in my opinion) even more beautiful. Thank you so much, this is amazing and it makes me feel so many emotions.
Ragyo Kiryuin, the only villain worthy of the tittle "Goddess"
I saw another video's comment describe Ragyo as Adolf Gaga and this song fits so well.
I mean the original version of this song is in German right?
Your voice fits this song so perfectly! I love it! Great job. :3
I haven't watched Kill la Kill but I might now this song is amazing
You should watch the anime, it has a good and intense story
You have such a fitting voice for anime covers. It mirrors some vocalists and voice actors so well.
What an amazing cover.
Definitely one of my favorite Blumenkranz renditions, the instrumental is just as strong as the vocals
I personally think the villains are cooler and more interesting than the heroes
Ragyo is my number one villain
Had a hard time commenting this. I have listened to the actual song many times before and I must say. This cover literally blew me away. I feel a lot of emotion in it which I look for in a lot of music I listen to. That or music that make you feel in the moment but hey that's just me XD. But yes by far you're my favorite English cover artist and I will be looking forward to purchasing your album when it's released on Google. Keep up the amazing work.
Why anime villains always have the best theme songs?
these lyrics are really phenomenal. they perfectly capture the mood of the song, and they sound excellent. your singing is fantastic too, honestly. your voice is powerful and really enjoyable to listen to! i'll definitely be purchasing this song.
Maybe not a candidate for best mom.
*But definitely the winning contestant for best mommy.*

Me, a German: "Finally I can understand the lyrics."
What are you talking about?
@@alexharo7925 The original song is in German but the singer butchered the pronunciation so hard that its easier for me to understand them here, despite english not being my first language.
@@billcipher147 So your German is advanced or something? And the singer "butchered" the pronunciation of the lyrics so hard really?
@@alexharo7925 Well, I grew up and live in Germany, so I guess its pretty advanced? lol
And yeah, half of what she's singing is barely understandable. I didn't even realize that the song was German until somebody pointed it out to me, haha
@@billcipher147 OMG that's great. Really I mean I kinda get what you mean yeah lol 😅
And yeah, at first I didn't even realized it myself until I looked it up or paid close attention to some of the lyrics as it was playing in its original language and I know a little German, basic or beginner level.
I literally cried to this. Not because it was sad, but because it was beautiful. It moved my heart.

I want to see that as a video.
Well done, I couldn't imagine someone singing this song better in English. Already feel so nostalgic about the anime.
