You are the best skiing youtuber, this is the exact content I've been searching for a while now. thank you for uploading these types of videos and please continue uploading videos like these because they are amazing!! 😀❤
Totally agree! The content is perfect and exactly what I’ve been looking for!
Wow! Thank you :)
Best skier…best contents!!!
I'm glad you skied these with two poles for this video in these conditions. Excitation looked sketch!
Great content as always. StolenMustang is right. Best skiing youtuber!
Thanks Cyrus!
I'm glad I had the common sense to use both poles as well!!
woot i like your videos, i am an hour away and was always to scared to ski these. thanks for sharing!
Great vid!
James you were right NOT TO SKI those runs when you cannot see the treacherous obstacles that would have made your trip to the hospital a certainty. I am impressed with how you were able to manage that super steep dangerous terrain. I have skied “The Cirque” and “West Cirque”. I’ll never forget when my friend Kevin said (on West Cirque) “Do not fall here!” My legs were shaking for sure!
Wow. I love skiing but I hate heights and will probably never do something like this. But thanks to you I was able to see places I otherwise never would. So awesome 👍 Keep posting these videos.
Glad I could bring you along for the ride! Lot's of awesome videos to come.
Content machineee baybayy. This SLAPS
I just love you and your videos, this one was the best that I've seen so far even though the conditions were shite. I dropped in of the West Cirque cornice today for the first time and had to find a video about it. I especially love how real you are, showing even not the prettiest drop ins or techniques because it shows me that I can progress and get to where you are. Thanks.
That's awesome Laura! Glad to hear you're out there challenging yourself. That cornice can be super steep and gnarly, super stoked for you :). What's next on your hit list?
@@riseandalpine I had to get air off some rocks to get in and I hadn't ever done that before, heart was pounding with excitement! Next on my list is Saudan Couloir
This was a really interesting guide for steep runs in whistler, thanks (keep it up man the videos are awesome)
Thanks so much!
Great skiing! You definitely did an excellent job with those steeps! Some of that was pretty darn scary.
Thanks!
Robertson off harmony is my fav of the steeps, they say the steepest😜
I love spending a day just lapping Robertson's and everything in between!
Love this guy. Down to earth, skis it all!
Thanks John. I love you for watching 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Was just up from Tuesday to today and mostly explored around on Blackcomb doing all the bowls off Spankys and the Saudan Couloir, it was similar to this with a lot of icy and firm conditions still super fun and cool to ski such an amazing area for the first time that I can remember.
Amazing! Regardless of the conditions Whistler is such an adventure :)
You are wild bro!!! Great job!!!
Thanks Abner!!
My fav steep is probs west cirque that one is a good one. Trying to work up to exhilaration and excitation lol.
West Cirque is the BEST!!!!
If you can do West Cirque you can totally do excitation :)
Kool fog man!
thx paul!
This was fucking awsome dude I would love to see more send on some of these when the snows better 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thanks Mars! Will totally shred them harder when the snow is juicy!
Yah just a tad steeper than a green run! Hopefully you made it back with 2 skis this time🤣 Shame about the conditions as the content and execution was excellent. I for one would love a repeat of this video after some nice powder, providing there’s a bit more pack covering the rocks.👍🇬🇧
I'll for sure loop back to these when we've got some normal snow.
I'm ver happy my skis behaved themselves this time around :)
So there's one area that I've never seen a video of someone skiing. They're called the Friday the 13th Chutes, above West Bowl. The entrance is above the entrance to Mondays but it's a permanently closed area. Some people still ski them but if you're looking for something challenging it would be really cool to see someone ski them.
It's a cool zone and used to be fair game but now is a PC area. I stay out of PC zones and would recommend everyone else does as well. Spots usually become PC because of deaths or overhead hazard for other skiers.
@@riseandalpine yeah, I've found most of the PC areas that have recently become PC is because Vail doesn't want to promote people going in there, especially if they aren't capable. for example I think they've closed off all the stuff around Krakatoa and ladies first
@@kindofagod7wait vail owns whistler blackcomb 😊
look unreal thats spots .next time i go ill try
You're gonna have a blast on these Alex!
I’ll be there in a week…really hoping for better snow than this! You handled that nasty stuff really well.
Hopefully some snow coming in this weekend. Fingers Crossed 🤞.
Bro risks his skis for us he deserfs way more likes
Thanks dude!
I am pretty obsessed with skiing... But yeah I see you doing these runs and I'm like... Nah I'm good.
I'm not doing jump turns yet that's probably why
Jump turns are helpful since runs this steep are usually icy. These runs are great for an adrenaline rush, but not something I feel like doing every day on the hill :).
excellent work. have you considered or tried back country skiing big couloir
Big Couloir? DOA?
U should do a video of doing the coffin
I totally will!
I was away for a bit and want a bluebird day so I can film it for you guys in 360 degrees!
@@riseandalpine awesome bro
Great video dude!
Going skiing in France in a few weeks - how do I get some stickers???
Did you try the hot sauce I recommended? ;)
No way man! France is gonna be sick. Send me some pictures!!
Haven't had the chance to try the sauce yet.
You can snag some stickers and other gear here: rise-alpine.creator-spring.com/
@@riseandalpine yeh man I’ve been quite a few times, but not to this resort. Driving from London as well, so kind of a road trip too! How do I send you pictures?
It’s actually so so nice. Element of comedy value too.
Nice, I’ll take a look now!
Love your videos mate. What do you film on?
Thanks Brad! I film on a GoPro 7 SIlver. Hoping to upgrade to a newer model at some point so I can get some better stabilization.
The old go pros still take fantastic quality though!
Hahaha throwing shade at Whis right from the start.
We all know where my loyalty lies.....
this guy is sucha beauty and that snow looked awful! Would you say the Couloir or Exhileration is the hardest run on Whist?
Snow was most definitely awful LOL.
Exhilaration is definitely harder in my opinion than Couloir. Couloir is much more tame if the snow conditions are normal and those nasty rocks aren't exposed.
The initial drop into Couloir can feel spooky but once you take that first turn it's quite comfortable and feels safe. Exhilaration is ultra skinny and steep. Looking over that cornice at the top is very intimidating!
Great video!
I love to try these steep runs. Which one do you suggest to begin with?
I would recommend to start with the Harmony Horseshoes or McConkeys There isn't any cliff danger once you drop in so it's a good spot to get comfortable with steep skiing.
@@riseandalpine TY very much!
I will try Horseshoes and Upper McConkeys next time.
Poggers
Hang in there, snow should be coming soon
Hoping for some strong March Storms 🤞🤞
you missed a few, Double Black Double Back, Corner Pocket, The Coulior has not really been skiable this season at all, Patrol says it's a rock drop of death ;) and that's a Monster size Cleave, Bushrat will develop a big one naturally
Rock drop of death is a spot on description LOL!!
Where about's are Double Black Double Back and Corner Pocket?
Not sure if I've skied them.
@@riseandalpine corner pocket is left at the cirque. Too much for me. The other is on east face. By the big rock.
@@onecutmedia Corner pocket looks insane!!! Quite a bit of cliff exposure for very little turns. Almost as ridiculous as Monkeys Buttcrack below peak chair.
Maybe I'll scope it out if it ever snows again and I have a new pair of bindings LOL.
Nice vid, what app are you using?
For editing? or for the maps?
@@riseandalpine for the maps
This guy is absolutely amazing. Although footage sucks kinda
Thanks Jonathan! Footage was shitty before I got my new cameras. Couldn't afford to get an upgrade until 3/4 of the way through last season. Now footy is as smooth as mollasses.
I have done stuff like Saudan couloir(not the false face entrance), Stefan’s chute, and spankys chute. I know they are not as hard as the Couloir but how much harder is it?
the couloir on Whistler is a super interesting one as the entrance can be hairy (sometimes impossible to ski depending on the cornice).
Once you're in it's a similar pitch to false face or West Cirque and is a fabulous run, it's the entrance that is always the wild card.
Sometimes the entrance will feel straight forwad and other-times it's downright spooky.
Overall I would say it's a level harder based off the mental game when entering. It's without a doubt the hardest 'marked' run on the mountain.
Where was my feature?? I drank hot sauce for the boys!!!
Don't you worry! Your valiant sauce chugging efforts will be well represented in an upcoming video!
Look forward to it!! Waiting eagerly
Earlier today I skied stagger home and at the top I fell and slid the whole way down in my butt 😅
no way dude hahaha.... how is your ass holding up? That is one hell of a rocky chute to fall down. You gonna go back for redemption?
@@riseandalpine i was the first person in it after a bit of snow so I'm fine, but I kinda ruined it for the next people... I go to whistler 1 week each year so next year I will hopefully get redemption
West Cirque high entrance hasn’t been good all season, 2019 was the best I’ve seen it.
I know. It's a bummer!
How steep would you say glacier couloir is?
I'm not 100% certain but probably close to 50 on the uppermost portion and mellows out fast once you're in the bowl.
Do you know how steep Exhilaration is?
I'm not 100% certain. It's STEEP. But, I think it feels even more steep because of how narrow it is.
sideslippin's for cheaters!!
w/b needs to get serious and sponsor a series man!
I've tried but they haven't ben willing to team up with me so far!
Warning not easy way down hard !
Stop showing and breaking down runs...you vloggers are ruining Whistler.
no body can even ski them is the first reason. 2. conditions suck too
