Greatly appreciate your videos showing Whistler Blackcomb! Making our way out there for the second time in February, last time was January of 2020 right before Covid. We were there for 5 days and its crazy that I was only able to touch about 1/10 of the mountain, the place is massive. These videos are helping me plan out and maximize our time there! Thanks!
Dude. your videos are clutch. I'm from VT and have spent a large part of my life on snow. I try and organize a family/friends trip to a western resort every 2 to 3 years. 3 years ago it was Breckenridge and Vail. This year it's Whistler in mid January. I always try and find guidance online on where to ski and what honey holes not to miss so I'm not wasting one minute trying to figure where to go and what to do once I'm there. Honestly, there are people trying to do what you do at many of the big resorts but no one comes close to the detailed advice you are dishing out. (Vail should absolutely hire you as a Whistler online guide. If they don't they are missing a huge opportunity.) Thank you for these videos. They will help make my trip epic. Got a question for you though. While I'm an expert level skier and will be traveling with a couple mates that are likewise, my two boys and wife are now comfortable enough on skis that they will be joining me on the trip as well. They've skied VT with me many times but this will be their first trip out west to a resort with skiing above the tree line. Can't wait to make the kind of memories that my Dad did when he took me and my brother to CO and UT back when I was a teenager. However, while my 13 year old is skiing at a healthy intermediate level and making great turns, my 15 year old is more like a strong novice and my wife is too. My wife in particular isn't comfortable on anything beyond a light moderate angle/pitch and would want to avoid large crowds on trail. Basically greens and easy to mid-level blues. You mentioned a couple spots that are good for an introduction to tree skiing. Would these be appropriate for someone of the level I described? Both my boys love ducking in and out of the trees in VT but I would want to make sure it's not too steep of a pitch and the trees are uber spaced for my wife to not get stressed out. Somewhere scenic where we could get in a lot of laps but no two lines are the same, y'know what I mean? By the way, I think a great idea for a video might be something outlining the best spots to hit for groups with kids or a mixture of ability levels. Just a thought. Keep doing what you do. Gonna be there 1/15 - 1/22 so with 6 days on snow we should have time to cover a lot of terrain and me and my friends will have plenty of opportunities to hit the advanced terrain you've highlighted too. Maybe we'll catch you for some laps! Peace, brother.
Hey Bro, So happy you're finding my guides helpful and I have a feeling you and your friends are going to have a ball up here! For the days you're skiing with the Fam I'd reccomend checking out this guide I made riseandalpine.com/2022/02/05/whistler-blackcombs-easiest-green-runs-a-beginners-guide-to-skiing-whistler/ Whistler is probably the best call for your mix of skiers as it has more variety in lower angle terrain! The great thing about Whistler is that everything is super scenic (when it's not cloudy) and there are trees and tons of side hits for the boys to play around on when mom is skiing down the more open terrain. I'd recommend playing on the Symphony chair as there are some pretty low angle tree runs and some of them have groomed type glades near the bottom and the views at the top are just exceptional! The emerald is also fun for younger lads because there is a beginner terrain park at the top and then you can hit some trees near the bottom! Hopefully this was a tad helpful. See ya on the slopes :)
@willdrumforfood6033 - I can confirm bottom of both symphony and emerald are phenomenal areas for skiers like you guys. For you and your fellow expert friends, turn right at the top of the symphony chair and hit the double black: piccolo face. Its short but steep and you can meet the fam right at the bottom of the run, as a green wraps around to where you’ll end up. Some fun for the whole family! If you’re skiing without the family and just with your buddies, head over to spanky’s ladder on blackcomb. You can watch many guides here on YT on the area as it can be tricky to navigate for the first time! Spanky’s is accessible by the glacier chair, which is mainly for advanced/expert skiers. On whistler, peak and harmony will be great for you and your buddies. Let me know if you have any other questions, hopefully that was helpful!
@@willdrumforfood6033 I want to hear how your trip went! Whistler's the best. Once you make it to Symphony, you kind of get stuck and just go up and down, up and down, up and down, until they kick you out. It's the crack of skiing.
My friend Brian screams "RISE AND ALPINE" as loud as possible to get psyched before dropping in on a crazy line. Especially if its one he didn't know about until watching these videos. These videos are awesome! Keep up the good work!

@@riseandalpine I am soooo tired. As expected there was a Everest like lineup waiting to go up Spanky’s Ladder. So we did a few runs on the Horstman Glacier until it got shorter. But yeah LOTS of Snow today!
How do you like your enforcer 104 free for all mountain quiver? I’m looking to buy them in whistler today. I like powder bowls and tree skiing and my Volkl mantra 103 are too long and heavy.
They are super solid for an all-mountain quiver especially if you like skiing frontside, enjoy carving on groomers and also kill it in bowls/powder. They are a tad damp due to the construction and don't have to0 much tail rocker or play so smearing in the trees can be a tad tougher. It's totally a ski you can size down and have loads of stability. I've been riding the 115's a little bit more b/c theres something fun about a true pow ski but, you can't go wrong with the 104's
Killer video! Not sure if you're searching for a new set of pow skis but I just got the Moment Deathwish and they are unbelievable, just had them out on tuesdays (mar 15th) pow day and they are the real deal!
You got that right! International, cakehole, kyhbers, million dollar are all fabulous spots but require some snow safety knowledge, awareness, navigation and backcountry gear! Best to leave the details on those ones to those with the experience to figure em' out.
