Loved your reaction - even though it's way past Christmas! The part where they repeat the "do you hear what I hear" is the same notes but each one is an octave above the last - which puts Austin way up in soprano range. One of my favorite Home Free songs (but it is a long list). Looking forward to when we can see them live again - I have tickets for October!!
I have about 27 favorite Home Free songs, and this one is at the top of the list. Simply outstanding. P.S. Every time I watch a King Family reaction, I want to come react with you! You are so fun! Bummer that I'm way up in Minnesota. God bless!
Awww bless you Caleb - I could see you holding that sneeze in so hard - you gave me a much needed chuckle on a drizzly Sunday afternoon in the UK. Great reaction guys, thank you - I love this version of one of my favourite Christmas songs from Home Free :) (it's called 'panning' when it moves from left to right). New sub here by the way, Caleb's sneeze nailed it :)
One of my favorites. It is so well done. I loved all the sounds. I’m surprised the castle stayed up during Tim’s low notes. Adam’s arrangement is tremendous. Loved your reaction!
The range they show between the different voices. Austin was in the Soprano range for a while down to Tim's Basso Profundo makes for some amazing ear candy.
Since I discovered them during quarantine I had held off on Christmas music - but after a while I broke down. My husband loves Grandma got run over by a reindeer so we started there and haven’t looked back 😀 Great reaction of a wonderful song. Agree that they were very creative here. They recorded it again with Chance on second Christmas album
I love how much you include your kids in the conversation and you look at them when you are talking to them, paying attention to them. Also, I love your reactions because you notice the subtle things, things that so many other reactors miss and you're as amazed as I am by it. Great video!
I LOVE that you watch these videos with your boys!! My sister and brother and I all have a great appreciation of and much involvement with music as adults, because of how our parents instilled in us the love of music from a very young age. Keep it up!!
I watched Chris Rupp's reaction/analysis of this one not long ago. He said Adam arranged it so it's not surprising it opens with a lot of percussion. I love this video - but I get cold just watching it!!
His video reaction of this video is great. You may even want to react to his reactions. He has talked about several of Home Free's early songs. They are very entertaining. ... Guy
The reason I became I home fry this winter is because of Chris Rupp behind the scenes commentary of Home Free arrangements. This masterpiece is my favorite of their covers. Adam Rupp’s arrangement is breathtaking and I always make these faces every time! 🤭😱.
Thanks guys!!! Love you doing it with the boys! And you know that Adam arranged this one? The HR guys always laugh that most of his arrangements are too hard for them to perform! They loved this one and they killed it didn't they! So much to listen to every time hear something new! Take are.
The growl is Tim’s main thing when he sings bass. As Geoff Castellucci put it Tim is the master of the growl. Also I can sing bass pretty well thanks to Geoff watched his vid on how to sing low and I’ve gotten good at it.
Woohoo, been waiting for this reaction all year long. Probably my favorite all time Home Free song as this arrangement is so much more "instrumental" in nature than their other tracks. Adam did a killer job, it's truly one of a kind, and the added reverb after-effects especially on Austin and Adam's voices makes it sound even more smooth and unique to the video setting. But this song live is just as impressive as they recreate the sound to a tee! Also, from my memory Chris is just lip singing the bass track early on in the video, but it was actually sung by Tim and layered into the song. He recently did a video where he broke down this song and said this is sometimes what happens, and many times a last minute decision. I could say soo much more... but I'll recommend Chris Rupp feat. Home Free: What Child is This?. The song is very under-watched for how great it is.
Side note (can't help it!) Adam Rupp is an instrumentalist by background - trumpet and others. I don't know if you've ever heard of jokes & stereotypes of vocalists vs instrumentalists regarding the differences in approach to musicianship. Plenty of that in the music artistry world, and this song fits right into it all as a great example of what happens for the better when an instrumentalist gets involved. I'm also an instrumentalist - trumpet, piano, guitar etc - so I might be a bit biased :D But in all seriousness instruments are in many ways on the other side of the music spectrum from vocals, and you can hear the influence in this song. Just a cool perspective I thought I'd share.
Yessss! LOVE this arrangement! HF does so many cool things in this video 🥰 I love how your sons react with you & imitate you & enjoy hanging out with you.
I f you listen to it again watch the middle percussion part, the lights change with the beat. There is an amazing amount of textures and things going on, it's worth listening to over and over.
Great reaction, loved your youngest looking to you and mirroring your reactions when you weren't looking, especially in the bass notes .. a wonderful thing in a family .. You're probably thinking of 'panning' Left to Right channels/ears .. wonderful effect, when accompanied with amazing arrangement. Still one of my favourites with regards to arrangement .. My favourite is the 4 part/5 octave harmony 'climb', from Tim to Austin .. each an octave apart (at ~ 3:16 in the original) Also rare and lovely to see Adam up front and centre, he usually tends to 'hug the shadows', happy in the background ..
Great reaction. I never cared for this song, but I could listen to these guys singing Adam's arrangement for hours. Great bass growl from your little guys.
Yep! By far my fav from their “Full of Cheer” and “Full of (Even More) Cheer” (1st with Chris and 2nd with Chance). Adam’s arrangement was phenomenal!! So much stuff to hear, but so good!! Love it and loved all of your reactions!!
When Chris was in the group, they almost always double tracked Tim on the bass part when Tim sang lead, even in instances (like this song) where Chris pretends to take over the bass in the video. For some reason, All About That Bass was the only studio song they did where Chris actually sang a bass line. However, Chris would take over the bass part in live performances whenever Tim sang lead.
Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, is the one who actually arranged this song for them. He had been trying some new sounds and other things with his beat boxing, and kind of wanted to show them off in this arrangement. I believe he tried 16 or 18 new sounds and beats in this song.
Patricia Woyczik, you are my idol! I thought I had found every chicken in the Home Free videos, but I never saw it in this one until now. Kudos! ... Guy
This arrangement was done by Adam Rupp. It is so intricate and beautiful. They agree that it's great but it's so difficult they have a bit of trouble learning it.
Great reaction, also love Tim's amazing low notes! Should check out 'Children go where I send thee' Homefree with Kenny Rogers and 'How great Thou Art', both brilliant songs! ❤❤❤
Anthem Lights just released their cover of this song. Actually new one is a mashup of Mary did you know/Breath of Heaven. They collaborated with their significant others.
I'm feeling for the younger one. Now I'm comfortable and pretty much wear them all the time, but over-ear headphones used to drive me crazy for the longest time because of how they made my ears feel itchy. I'd stay with earbuds (which I still like). QUICK EDIT: I burst out laughing at Tim's low part. Dad: sensory overload. Older Boy: Wow - that's good. Younger Boy: *peeks at others having heads back and eyes closed* well, they're doing it... *quickly puts his head back and closes eyes* (then does it throughout video randomly). Tim holds the note for about 6-7 seconds, about the same as their finale night performance on The Sing-Off where he holds it for about 7-8 seconds. (And if you haven't seen their 'Ring of Fire' sing-off performance - you NEED to react to it, especially with the judges comments included.) As both a proud 4th-generation Minnesotan (St. Paul) and #HomeFry, I love that they found a way to do a video that included the ice castle from the Winter Carnival. Who knows when the MN State Fair will be able to properly resume (rightfully famous), but I really want them to do a #MNStateFair music vid. I actually got to see them there in concert for the 1st (and last until I can afford money on tickets and not bills) time in what I'm pretty sure was their last 'free' concert on the Bandshell stage. It rained, but it was worth it. And I was more in the middle-back - could still feel Tim's low notes and had 'bass in my butt'. A MN Renaissance Festival (2 of my friends work there) music vid would also be fun.
Follow Chris Rupp's you tube account and watch the vids he is going over of his home free days , this is one of them and he talks about him trying to do bass when Tim is singing, pretty interesting stuff
Great reaction!! I love this song, but only their version. Adam did a fabulous job with the arrangement! And since you checked out You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch today by Pentatonix, you should definitely check out VoicePlay's version as well if you haven't already!
@@Miyako96 Ikr Unsaid Emily had crying and Stand Tall I told my mom I want one of their hoodies and she said maybe and if she does I'm wear all day and all night long. ( Of course I'll wash it)
In my opinion this is the Home Free masterpiece
Agreed!
I concur
This one, and Helplessly Hoping. Both absolute masterpieces and works of art.
Adam did a FANTASTIC job with this arrangement🙌 The bass in this one was crazyyyy good🔥
Austin’s background sound is one of my favorite effects.
I love how much the dad obviously enjoys the music and how the kids are obviously just enjoying their time with their dad... ☺
I think this is my favorite of their Christmas songs. The arrangement is so creative!
I like this one but their version of Oh Holy Night is heaven sent! 😍
This is a rare Adam Rupp arrangement. I wish he would do more. As you said, creative.
My favorite too! Adam jazzed it up it could almost be a dance hit.
I love everything about this. And Chris Rupp has a beautiful voice
There are a lot of complex and detailed things going on in this wonderful arrangement by Adam.
This arrangement is even better live! I've seen them three times, and Tim literally shakes the building...
Loved your reaction - even though it's way past Christmas! The part where they repeat the "do you hear what I hear" is the same notes but each one is an octave above the last - which puts Austin way up in soprano range. That was a manly sneeze. Way to go. One my favorite Home Free songs. Yep Chris covered some bass while Tim was singing tenor. Great reaction.
Adam with a great arrangement in this one!
Awww bless you Caleb - I could see you holding that sneeze in so hard - you gave me a much needed chuckle on a drizzly Sunday afternoon in the UK. Great reaction guys, thank you - I love this version of one of my favourite Christmas songs from Home Free :)

You nailed it: sensory overload!! My all time favorite arrangement of this song.
You and the boys did a great reaction! Thanks!

This song is one of my favorite Christmas songs and they crush it, as always 😀
I love that a father shares his love of music with his children.
Dennis you said it right, it's sensory OVERLOAD !!! Adam killed this arrangement ! It's one of their very best !
That is the best version ever of that song.
I LOVE that you watch these videos with your boys!! My sister and brother and I all have a great appreciation of and much involvement with music as adults, because of how our parents instilled in us the love of music from a very young age. Keep it up!!

Tim hits some absolutely crazy low notes in this arrangement. His voice always gives me chills. I'm all about that Bass! LOL

In music, the lowest male voice is the BASS. It’s pronounced BASE, but spelled BASS.

Btw...Adam Rupp was the one who did the arrangement on this. He was majoring in music (and trumpet player in college)...per Chris Rupp.
This is my absolute fave song by them.

My absolute favorite.

Another beautiful rendition they did is Away In A Manger. It is very seldom talked about, but I guarantee you will love it. ❤
Chris Rupp on his RUclips channel does a reaction to this some kinda a background/reaction of how they did it might want to check it out
adam's arrangement is amazing but then again it's not really a surprise since they always deliver
They did an awesome job with my favorite Christmas song. Their arrangement is tops! Thanks guys. ^_^
I have to say Chris sounds great in this one, he has a beautiful voice

I think he said he is a tenor but can sort of do bass to cover for Tim. Now that Chance is in the group Tim gets more freedom
Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, is the one who actually arranged this song for them. He had been trying some new sounds and other things with his beat boxing, and kind of wanted to show them off in this arrangement.

No comment for the song.

Adam Rupp arranged this Masterpiece
Believe Austin did the arrangement.
Fantastic 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🍟

No bass boosting. Just screen capture
