Iirc he said for BW 2 it would have been like the normal one because the trade evos before the league aren’t that good (no Alakazam or Gengar), and the USUM one would have been the same as SM. So he just need to make the HGSS one, which probably would just change Espeon into Alakazam, Ampharos into Raikou and maybe Heracross into Machamp.
Love this nostalgia vid! Makes me want to get my old game out. In fact I will! Side note - would you ever consider doing another randomiser nuzlocke series again? I loved it! But through a different region / game? (Please 🤞)
Wow this video really changed the landscape when it comes to Pokemon advice and it really was super effective in the Johto region , this is why 2nd Gen is my favorite
Woah it’s so weird that you posted this I literally just watched these videos today after a long time of not playing heart gold I just started playing again recently
After being a long time subscriber I really appreciate your efforts over the years bringing me joy and a destruction from the difficulties of life thanks men ❤️❤️
A postgame suggestion for Feraligatr: once you’ve gone everywhere that requires Surf (which you CAN do before the Red Battle), replace it with Rock Climb (which you get from Oak after getting all 16 Badges). This way, not only does it have an extra physical attack, but you won’t need to swap out a party member for an HM-mule. Just a thought.
Whitney and Clair are both consistently the toughest gym leaders in Johto. Whitney’s tough because her miltank is a menace due to not only being a stupid strong Pokemon for the third gym in the game but with one of the rudest movesets of any gym battle Pokemon out there plus in hgss while it’s one level lower than gsc it receives two buffs in exchange a lum berry meaning you need to status it twice and scrappy so you can’t cheese the fight with a gastly anymore. Meanwhile Clair is difficult by nature of using dragons before fairy type existed in gsc all her dragonairs have thunder wave ready to ruin your day and for any water types with ice coverage one of them has thunderbolt and you won’t know which one until after you get hit by it and kingdra’s only weakness is dragon and you are basically guaranteed not to have dragon type on your johto team due to only options being a low level Dratini near town and maybe a kingdra yourself. Not only are they tough but they both throw tantrums when you beat them Whitney cries like a baby and Clair is a sore beeping loser who straight up refuses to give you the badge. Whintney more than likely ran over your team multiple times if you don’t go out of your way to get and then train up Pokémon meant specifically to counter Whitney’s evil miltank and she has the right to cry after one loss what about our tears Whitney huh. Clair on the other hand were the ones with limited super effective damage outputs and due to Johto’s level curves we’re likely under leveled making it more impressive if we can win and more frustrating when she doesn’t give us the badge you baby j-just gimme the damn bsdge do your job woman. But at least with Whitney all we got to do is walk away talk to the nearest gym trainer walk back talk to Whitney when she’s done shirking her responsibilities by throwing a fit and she’ll give you the badge but with Clair she makes you go to the freaking dragon’s den take a trail pass it and she still doesn’t want to give us the freaking badge and it takes a threat from the elder to tell Lance that she’s not doing her job before she finally gives us the damn badge. I know this is off topic from the video but I’m just pointing out the toughest gym leaders regardless of what starter you pick.
The best team I ever used in HGSS were Pokemon I didn't even get from in-game (except for my starter), but traded over from Platinum: Feraligatr, Staraptor, Scizor, Mamoswine, Houndoom, and Electivire.
23:22 if you'd rather wait until 8th gym you can get extreme speed dratini it's a hell of a grind but it's kind worth it You can just replace dragon pulse or draco meteor depending on which one you like more
Just finished a gold only team on pokemon crystal. The team had typlosion, politoad, togetic, sunlfora, swoodowodo and lantern. Man was it tough by the end. MVP was politoad.
Heart Gold and Soul Silver are better versions of Gold, Silver and Crystal with lots of Pokémon and moves as of generation 4 The poke walker accessory Pokeathlon Safari Zone has access to later Pokémon And walking Pokémon Except where they lack the Odd Egg feature for easier access to shiny baby Pokémon, some Pokémon found very late in the game And Celebi not obtainable in the Shrine in normal gameplay
Following Pokemon is a pretty bad feature in my opinion. It is just annoying to have and it can't be turned off here. Pokeathlon just felt unnecessary and can easily be ignored. Pokewalker didn't need to exist. Safari zone doesn't really make up for the pokemon originally locked behind Kanto as Safari Zones are just annoying to get pokemon. What this poor remake did do right is bring back closed off areas such as Seaform Island and Cerulean Cave.
@@anthonyt425I chose cyndiquil last night but I traded him to platinum to restart with totodile. I usually pick fire starters and totodile just seems more fun and original. I think I’m gonna get an arcanine as my fire type. Also probably gonna use Togekiss if my Togepi has serene grace. Others we’ll see !
@@dreamgood130 Hmm. So many decent Pokemon. Tyranitar is amazing but unless you’re willing to grind it out most will probably not use it. Amphorous is a great electric Pokemon but way too common imo. I’m biased so I love Totodile. Despite Umbreon saying that other water types outclass it, it still has really high attack and versatile.

This WOULD be the best possible team except for one problem - exp. The horrendous exp curve in hgss plus the slow growth rate of lapras and hera means you'll be struuuggling through the game underleveled
You should do a video on how mewtwo the man made secret pokemon on cinnabar island..was drawn on bills door of the lighthouse in episode 13 of the TV show...
You don't get the Steel Wing TM until after you beat Blue. Also, the team already has Typhlosion, Heracross and Lapras to deal with rock and ice types.
@anthonyt425 Just don't like them in general. First time ever playing gen 2 which was Crystal, I put my starter in the box after catching a Growlithe. Traded with a friend and back so it would level up faster and then I had evolved my Magikarp but once I caught Suicune that was my water/ice type. Never had a grass type on my team except one time when I had a friend trade me a Bulbasaur. Playing the remakes was still the same way except instead of having Suicune, I just kept my Gyarados.
Respectfully..the typhlosion line has a really shallow move pool. I'll take the feraligatr line any day of the week, whether it gets physical water moves later on or not. It can learn moves like dig, rockslide, crunch, brick break and iron tail to take out a ton of different pokemon. Plus, did you forget sheer force??
I don't think Feraligatr gets sheer force as an ability until gen 5. Regardless, the rest of your points are right. Typhlosion does have a shallow movepool. Focus blast and solarbeam are solid but they come with trade offs (second turn & low accuracy respectively). The only "bad" thing about Feraligatr is that they're so many other water pokémon to use.
Yeah I doubt there is any good team for this awful remake. Regardless, I just solo the game with Feraligatr. The exp share in Heartgold and Soulsilver is just bad as it doesn't level up the whole team. Having 8 hidden moves also hinders the team choices for us. The level curve in this game is still not fixed. I have no love for this game. Both pokemon regions ended up dragging each other down. Especially Kanto as it feels more empty and barren.
There's a decent amount of pokémon but many great ones are locked for the postgame or you need elemental stones(very hard to obtain) to get better pokémon. I completely agree with your other critiques, the level grinding, the forced HM usage, the kanto region being half baked, kinda brings the game down a bit.
