@@Nicko-c1m They didn't. He opened an infected file that abused an (un)known exploit on his system. This then installed some malware that stole his login sessions or keylogged his passwords. Never open a file if you're not sure who sent it to you. Such a payload can even be stored in PDFs and images. Which is why 2 factor is so important. And always keep your software updated as these exploits get patched up eventually. Unfortunately, it remains a race against the clock.
