I have an upright Yamaha U3 and a Yamaha P90 and find I play the digital piano far more because I can play it with headphones or at a low volume at any hour of the day or night - also the P90 is in my "man cave" while the upright is in the living room. The P90 is about 20 years old but is still a great piano and I like the action almost as much at the U3 upright. I can MIDI the digital piano to my computer for use with a DAW, which opens up all kinds of other sound possibilities. A lot of the newer digital pianos have an input that allows you to play along with music from your phone or computer. The icing on the cake for the digital is that it also has some very nice organ sounds and is easily taken to a gig.

Love this info, digital pianos offer so much versatility. Honestly if you can own both, its a nice combo!

Hey there! I'm glad you're taking up the piano and enjoying the videos. That Roland is a great one to get started with. If you've got the time, you've got all the ability in the world to learn.
I recommend starting with the All - In- One - Children's method book by Alfred. It starts with position playing, then starts to let you free with staff reading on lines and spaces. Short, digestible pieces, and you'll feel good about playing them.
Then you can try out the adult book version of the book. I just find that most adult method books go way too fast and are too technical way too early. That can ruin the motivation of adult pianists. Do keep me updated on your progress!
