I agree, itchy scalp is not normal. Itchy scalp is a symptom that something is not right, it could be a product ur using or it could be the synthetic or human hair you're using but it is definitely a symptom to take notice. Agreed, forget these wigs and weaves. Pulling your hair out, scalp can't breathe, texture and color is not your own. They have to be washed too ladies, if not they smell. Rock what God gave you.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I had a moment of realisation early this year , when I asked myself the question "Why do I always have to braid my hair ?" And my answer was I don't have to , its beautiful as is and enough because it simply is. And I've barely had a bad hair day since then. Also I really believe these little lies (which are not so little) , have a huge part to play in the struggle so many people go through. Like if you are tolerating an itvhy scalp for no reason because of a weave, what other bs are you tolerating in your life ?
Your voice is glorious. Just had to say that. I’ve never worn a weave before but I have worn extensions once in the past 10 years or so. It was so tight that the back of my scalp and front was itchy as hell. I was going to tough it out but after 3 days or so, I said no more. Took that thing out quick smart. Beauty need not be painful.
Very true. Been there and wont do it again. All of my sides were eaten off by weaves and braids thinking we are cute ,pulling the hair up in a style.away from our forehead.
See there!! Weave is beautiful when it is done right but I can not pay the price of discomfort, not being able to go swimming ( I enjoy the beach and the pool), if I get caught in the rain it takes to long to dry plus there is a smell considering all of the commpressed trapped hair that can not breath freely. Nope I have not worn a weave since 2014 and it is extremely rare that I wear braids ( I will wear braids when I can afford them, but that is even next to never).

I had it in for a week. I never keep my weave in long. I agree the closure was on the stylist. I’m glad this helped! The issue with the braids was definitely the hair
I have been washing my hair nearly every day for like 1 year and I wore a crochet hairstyle recently and my hair is so itchy it dose not like it. Its a sign to go back to my own hair.

When I grew up, it was a cultural norm that you had to suffer in order to look good. I lost count of how many times I've heard "beauty is pain". That statement irritates me more than unwashed Xpressions braiding hair!
Likely it's the spring twist hair, it inflamed my daughter's scalp every time. After many many trial and error the only "safe" synthetic hair was the bobbi boss faux locs .....everything else caused itching
I believe you boo ! This video is not to bash weaves it’s to bring awareness to allergic reactions to it and encourage people to NOT tolerate it. If your hair is just fine with it knock yourself out😂 but if you getting sores, can’t sleep, crying etc. NO!!
yeaa its a lot of chemicals in the hair (especially braiding hair) 🥴 that shits no good for the scalp/hair. the blisters and itching is a sign of an allergic reaction - we gotta start paying attention 💯
Scabs would form on my edges and the nape of my neck every time my hair was braided. I remember one time the middle of my head was braided so tight that I couldn’t go to sleep because of the pain and tears. The pain stayed for a week That’s why I don’t let anyone else touch my hair anymore
Now there is a chemical on the hair so in order to keep your scalp from itching just give it a vinegar bath, you can use a cup 1/2 to 2 cups of vinegar and water or just soak it in a big clean bucket for 2 hours, rinse then let it dry overnight before use. I’ve done and my scalp feels fine. Now whoever did your lace front wig…maybe do theirs that way so it won’t fall off. I’ve had one done and I did not bleed at all.
Thank you boo!! And the hair was soaked in vinegar. It itched way more than the regular kankelon hair in the beauty supply. It was supposed to be for sensitive scalps.
This is reminding me that I have a friend in New York who gets them consistently but after a while she realized she had those issues. I think she's sensitive or the hair has to processed a certain way, so she looked into a hair vendor who sells hair for those w/sensitivities. Or hypo-allergenic, I also watched video from news/reporting channel like Vice or something. Since the world is becoming a global market, this allows those who aren't pros to get into the hair business. So some weaves have lice nits or isn't of good quality, it's a mess out here 🗿
Nope itchy scalp, scratching, patting, not washing hair/or losing sleep trying to sleep a certain way because it will mess up the hairstyle. This is no longer tolerated. I stop getting hairstyles where I can't wash my hair on a weekly basis. I realized my headaches were from when my hair was inflamed/itchy(weave/or no weave in). As soon as I wash my hair, the headache is gone. Plus I'm lazy and hate doing anything to do with hair even my own. I love my hair I hate dealing with it. So for the past 3 years I have stayed in braids. I have to wash my hair every week because the product buildup/my bad eating habits inflames my scalp. I can put the littlest product on but my body's on oil production goes into overdrive. So braids just make it so easier to wash/dry. But I don't play that itchy scalp stuff anymore. Trying to eat right ugh is hard.
I've come to realize I'm allergic last time I put in synthetic hair I couldn't even let them drop onto my shoulders cause whichever part of my skin it touched it would itch. Like my scalp was itchy. My face was itchy my neck was itchy. Could only have it in a high bun. This was in Jan. Now mind you from 2019 to 2020 I had free form dreads n from 2020- last year August I had a TWA that i would either cut into a a mohawk or big chop. So when I plaited my hair with synthetic hair for the first time I thought my head was just not use to being restricted. I had sores n itchy scalp some pain but not unbearable n thought I just need to train my hair. This was a high puff cornrow with synthetic hair n do I was still in denial. Plaited me hair in cornrows with added hair again. It was itchy still then again with acrylic yarn. Just to see if the hair piece had anything to do with it. The last time I had the synthetic hair the fact that my face was itchy was all the confirmation I needed. Haven't put it in since... I've seen videos n others suggest that I wash it with vinegar first n see if that helps but Im just like nope not now. Maybe in the future I will when Im feeling myself cause I like colour but for now Im too traumatized to put that back in my hair
It was itching my face shoulders and back too!! Thank you for sharing boo and I thought the same thing because I hadn’t gotten synthetic hair in so long since my recent install. I was like maybe my hair gotta get used to it but it itched so bad I had to take it out. I’m proud of you for listening to your hair!!❤ the hair was also soaked in vinegar and I still had a reaction so I really think it depends on the person.
@@Hoppinwithhago If vinegar didnt work for you. I wonder if it will work for me. Luckily I still have some of the hair. Will do a patch test in some distant future cause ain't no way Im going through that again. I did some research as well (on Google that is n I think there's a RUclips video in this as well) apparently the material(acrylic) used to make synthetic hair is toxic n can get absorbed through the skin. I think you should do a read on that n maybe make a video addressing it. Been meaning to ask my sister about all this since she's a scientist so your vid is a reminder
Normalized it up until I got seboherric dermatitis. I’ve fixed it now I’m working on growing my hair and giving up weaves for good. The thing about weaves is they gradually mess up your hair to where you feel dependent on it. Imo I think it’s better to be a heat trained natural or even someone w chemically straightened hair than to never wear my hair out. We’ve become too dependent on them it’s starting to feel like prison

So some weaves have lice nits or isn't of good quality, it's a mess out here 🗿
Girllllllll I believe it🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ cuz the way that weave was itching….Thank you for sharinggg💎💎❤️❤️
I DO HAIR AND REFUSED TO USE SYNTHETIC HAIR BUT THEY WONT LISTEN AND RUN TO THEM SALONS AND KNOW THEY ARE LOSING THEIR EDGES!😢
First weave I got had a netting which made it itch to the point I took it out. I stopped the netting and the weave experience was way better.
I heard girls say the net makes your hair itch way more! Is the net tight?
Itchy weaves, pulled too tight styles, styles that look good but hurt…we need to stop.

Wow that’s so interesting how you get headaches from an itchy scalp with weave or when it just needs to be washed!! So you braid your real hair?
Off I thought I wz the only one who paid to get my hair done and took it out the next day!!!! My scalp wz crying for help!!!!
Wowwww!! It’s so crazy look how many of us was struggling!! Thank you for sharing❤❤
FACTS...
👏🏾
Normalized it up until I got seboherric dermatitis. I’ve fixed it now I’m working on growing my hair and giving up weaves for good. The thing about weaves is they gradually mess up your hair to where you feel dependent on it. Imo I think it’s better to be a heat trained natural or even someone w chemically straightened hair than to never wear my hair out. We’ve become too dependent on them it’s starting to feel like prison
I HEAR YOU!! Thanks for sharing. I’m so proud of you for listening to your hair❤❤
I don’t think it’s the weave, it’s because your scalp needs to breathe, especially if it’s wrapped in a bonnet all night, it needs to breathe
Just fake hair in general is not normal🤷🏾♂️
I don’t and have never worn a weave but I felt compelled to listen up regardless…
Weaves are totally illogical & nonsensical to me… just sayin !!
Get the organic synthetic hair made by a black company
What’s the name of it?

By the way ur har is beautiful why are you wearing dead people hair?????
A normal black girl would’ve just soaked the braiding hair in acv and water then washed it and it wouldn’t itch ❤
The hair was soaked ask first
ACV never did me any favors. My head would still itch.
