Anyone who disses Savatage has never really listened to them. Best band ever. Extremely underrated but it’s kinda nice having them all to myself. Muhuhuhahahahahaha!!!!
Yup... revisiting these dudes for the um-teenth time lol. Loved these guys since the eighties when I got my hands on an "illegal as hell" import LP...good stuff. (I guess that this was their required ballad the recording companies bitched about before they'd talk to em)
I'm 56 and growing up with 80's metal through high school it took me this long to listen to these guys?!! This song rocks! I went down a rabbit hole actually and Skolnick led me here after watching some live Testament! I'm going to have to listen to the whole album now.
53 And while I have been a long term fan of Savatages radio played stuff and TSO, I never looked down into the rabbit hole until today. Seriously WTF is wrong with the Radio Stations to not have been playing vast amounts of Savatage since their inception and choking us with everything else? Really? We suffered Grunge in place of this exquisite sound from these Metal Masters and that really pisses me TF off. RIP Criss and Dawn.
I can only speak for Myself,I've been listening to Savatage since Sirens and I will continue listening to Savatage,They are Truly Honesty the Most Underrated Metal Band and Have Talent to Back it Up, R.I.P Chris and Paul.
Saw him, some years ago, playing an intimate jazz concert in a little church in my city with 2 others great musicians. Of all the shows I’ve seen in my life, this one was by far the best! Alex is an extraordinary person, both human and musical.
@@teamEP789 But they are underrated, Queensryche is underrated, post Shadowlife Dokken material is underrated, Savatage is underrated, XYZ is underrated, etc.
One of the only band where moving to a new singer was actually a great move. Not only Jon was able to focus on his genius writing but also singing on albums with Zach, so it is the only band I know where you can find 2 insane singers.
Survivor is another very good band that had two very good singers in Dave Bicker and Jimi Jamison. Also, AC/DC had Bon Scott and Brian Johnson. They are not metal bands necessarily, but you know what i mean :) Also, i totally agree with what you said regarding Zak and Jon Oliva. My fav Savatage albums are Hall Of The Mountain King and Edge Of Thorns.
Zach was a good friend of mine for a while, we lost touch, then we met up again, I was so happy for his time in this great classic band that our mutual friend Dan introduced him to.

I don't hear anything at all the radio than sounds even remotely like this.Nor have I in the past 20 years. How would this "fit in" with today's music exactly?
These are the real masters of metal. Thankfully, I have been listening to Savatage since Hall of the Mountain King, where, even then, I was late to discover them. TsO is great too, but i wish they had not ended Savatage for it. But it made John happy to move on so I guess it is what they needed to do. I should mention circle to circle as well... This singer performs so great in live shows. RIP Chris Oliva. Friend of mine let Alex play his guitar one time, pretty cool. Bay area. What is Jon doing after leaving TSO?
Marketing, sadly. Back in the day, my friends & I listened to some of the main stream stuff, but mostly stuff few people had heard of. People in my high school were always like, who the fuk is this band your listening to, lol.
interesting, looks like Wacholz and Middleton played along to Jon Oliva's bass and drums for the video. They were too torn up over Criss' death to play on the album but I guess they came around after it was done
Wow! Been loving this song for years and did not know there was a video clip of it. But what they heck they did with the final verses of it, but just repeating "Night is growing dark'? The album version is 10 times better.
This song is epic. Can't believe how good it is.
Anyone Who Disses Savatage Isn't a True Metal Fan. These Guys Are Geniuses. They Don't Just Write and Record, They Put Thought into their Work.
Amen TO that
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
so anyone who disses this mediocre pretty boy band is not a true metahead?fuck off.fucking poser

Another band a lot of people missed was Warlock. Didn't get radio play or MTV but Triumph and Agony was one of the best metal albums of the 80's.
You probably know Gutter Ballet but didn't notice that it is from Savatage. Epic song.
One of the best bands ever!! Hands Down!
For sure!!! Love this band.
@@MophineChild theeee. Best. Epic.

GOAT metal band. Criss Oliva was the GOAT metal guitarist, IMHO. RIP.
I think iron maiden was better
My favorite band of all time !
I love this band and as much as I respect and appreciate TSO there will never be another Savatage

In every band Alex Skolnick plays he does a tremendously good job.
Imagine that!
Yes he dose. Alex skolnick is a guitar God. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great guy !!
he is tonight in my town with Testament...and i am to fucking poor to go :(

This track is OUTSTANDING..You cant help singing and playing that air getar..🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🇬🇧
One of their most underrated songs.
not by me... love it
This entire album is a masterpiece, start to finish.
why always in youtube someone has to jump out and say "this is underrated"? no dude, its not. you just think you're hip cause you know it.

Fuck, I’m really happy that i just discovered this band days ago, and sad because they are so fucking underrated.
Every song of them is a masterpiece.
Absolutely they are, along with Metal Church and Flotsam and Jetsam

Hail Savatage From Greece.Unforgetable memories since 2001 that I had seen them live.
god damn i love this band
I cannot agree more. Savatage broke so much ground in a time where what they were doing was un cool.
2019 and I still love this song. Some of my very favorite guitar parts ever.

Goosebumps!! Great cd!! Lost hearing in my right ear for 24 hours after this show at The Magic Twanger in Boardman, Ohio.
Loud, and kicked ass!!!!
Zach was a good friend of mine for a while, we lost touch, then we met up again, I was so happy for his time in this great classic band that our mutual friend Dan introduced him to.
"Zach" was a good friend of yours? Funny. His friends and he spell it Zak. Me thinks you're full of shit Worm.
The night is growing dark
From somewhere deep within
It shelters like an ark
That always takes you in
The barmaid walks on over
And pours another round
For a lost soul at the corner
Who prays he's never found
And the mind goes numb
Until it's feeling no pain
And the soul cries out
For a handful of rain
Wash your women
In your Whiskey
When your future's
In the past
And your staring
Up at heaven
From the bottom
Of a glass
And you need some insulation
From the years you've
Had and lost
And you feel the perspiration
As you're adding up the cost
And the night rolls on
Like a slow moving train
And the soul cries out
There's a land beyond the living
There's a land beyond the dead
If it's true that God's forgiving
Of the lives that we had led
In the distance there's a thunder
And the air is thick and warm
And the patrons watch with wonder
The approaching of the storm
And the night rolls on
Like a slow moving train
And the soul cries out
For a handful of rain
There's an old man in the corner
And he's smoking all the time
An the smoke is drifting upward and it's
Twisting in my
Twisting in my
Mind
In my mind
The whiskey's getting deeper
And I use it like a moat
There's a blues man in the distance and he's
Lost inside his
Note
His note
The night is growing dark
From somewhere deep within
It shelters like an ark
That always takes you in
And the night rolls on
Like a slow moving train
And the soul cries out
For an handful of rain
its your time guys..music is missing this kind of shit...please come back
We miss it from when it disappeared from the map - second half of 90s

this song would fit right in with the music of today. i always said they were ahead of their time and under appreciated.

Great song with TSO this year. Super job Zack!
Good song. Was always a fan of Savatage & love TSO!

Its literally writen by Jon, whom is also playing all the instruments except the guitar leads. On the entire album.
