  • In 2020 Tokyo Disneyland opened their long-awaited 'New Fantasyland', the largest expansion in the park's 40 year history. But did you know the original plans were much bigger and MUCH more ambitious?

Alice in Wonderland is one of the only movies that i really believe that deserves a whole immersive land. Even if the movie is really old it holds up pretty well and has very creative and whimsical visuals

It would really stand out and feel special! The mazes at Paris and Shanghai are great but it would be so cool to see a land anchored by a big attraction 🤩

I've been begging for a Wonderland area forever. Hopefully it gets realized somewhere.

I think it’s only a matter of time. Hopefully this happens at some point because TDL’s Fantasyland seriously needs an update

It’s crazy to me that Disney in Tokyo Japan doesn’t have an Alice In Wonderland dark ride. Alice In Wonderland is very popular in Japan.

Right? It would be hugely popular here, let’s hope we get one someday!

Hopefully Tokyo will eventually get a new Fantasyland. A new Dumbo ride would be nice, an Alice In Wonderland dark ride would be nice, and i’d also like to see Tokyo have Mickey And Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Me too! Altho we don’t really have room for that now as Fantasy Springs used up any expansion Toontown could have had. There’s a rumor that OLC didn’t like Runaway Railway as they felt it looked cheap.

@@8bitthemepark I wouldn’t be upset if they just got rid of all of Mickey’s Toontown and replaced it with more Fantasyland. Especially if it included an Alice In Wonderland dark ride.
Also, Mickey And Minnie’s Runaway Railway is one of my favorite Disney rides so if it’s true that OLC thinks it’s too cheap, that makes me sad.

@@brianna_lynch Yea sometimes I think OLC can be too serious. It’s ok to have a ride that’s just fun and silly too!

IASW sorta has it's own "subland" in Disneyland Paris, and I think that's what they were planning to go for, not necessarily part of Tomorrowland.

Hard to say, but the architecture definitely seems to be bridging the gap between the two lands. Would’ve been cool!

Oo would love OLC to bring the Alice in wonderland dark ride from Anaheim over here !

I’m always amazed that Anaheim has the only Alice dark ride, how did that never get replicated elsewhere?!

I would love OLC to come up with a brand new Alice in Wonderland ride concept instead of copying the one in Anaheim.

Tbh, I find this better than Fantasy Springs. TDL would've finally gotten a magical Fantasyland and Small World would've had a more appropriate location. Instead of suddenly deciding to build Fantasy Springs, they could've decided to expand Port Discovery first (easily the weakest part of DisneySea) and maybe built an indoor pavillion sort of like the original Discovery Mountain concepts in Disneyland Paris. DisneySea will have an actual coaster (which it really needs) and another attraction could be added in the pavillion. Horizon's? A nostalgic carousel theater? This could still be done since they never used the expansion plot meant for Frozen. Fantasy Springs could've been a phase 2 plan.
Side note: you forgot about Peter Pan in West Fantasyland.

This would’ve solved the problem of TDL’s Fantasyland being super dated, and expanding capacity at the more popular park, but I really think Fantasy Springs is exactly what TDS needed. A load of new, high capacity family rides. It’s very exciting!
Love the idea of an indoor land though. You know there was one originally planned for DisneySea? Might save that for another video.

@@8bitthemepark I actually haven't heard of that plan yet. I'll have to do some research on that. I'm also warming up to Fantasy Springs actually. The entire area looks massive and does have the potential to be one of the best theme park lands (except it would probably lack any live entertainment). Also, I think the D23 demo of the Elsa animatronic should be a sign that the Frozen ride should play out quite different from the others. She sings the end of the song, which we don't see in other versions.

@@idk-zt8rx as much as I still think fantasy springs feels a bit forced/out of place at disneysea, it makes sense to attract more families to that park and disneysea desperately needs any additional capacity and rides that it can get. This expansion would have made Disneyland a much more cohesive park, but relocating small word in order to make that happen was too unhinged to be true. They definitely need that parade view restaurant though!
And like you said, I would love to see an expansion to Port Discovery and completely agree that DisneySea needs a proper all-ages coaster. I like Raging Spirits, but it doesn't hold a candle to Space Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain next door. The new Space Mountain (assuming it's essentially a clone of Epcot's Guardians coaster) will only make DisneySea's lack of a great coaster even more apparent.

Amusing story: I started this video and for some reason your narration was slowed down and slurred. Almost to the point it sounded like you were drunk when you made this. Come to find my nephew was playing with the settings the and sped was off lol. Silliness aside another great video

Haha I do occasionally have a beer when I record but hopefully not to the point that I’m slurring!!
