Right? Like holy crap, you described it so well! She commands presence when she walked into the room and the interview was...whoa. She is like a Morgan Freeman, I can listen to her speak all day I reckon
Gwendolyn has a great personality and it's very well-spoken I can sit and listen to her all day very lively speaker and passionate about what she believes and what she speaks about.
Indeed... I love how the PHASMA novel explained how (and why) she's not really loyal to the First Order... she's only loyal to herself, a survivor. It adds depth to a mysterious (but nuanced) character.
I think I’ve seen too many of these interviews/promo videos. As soon as she came on the screen I said, “This was the same days as her Bazaar video where she had to guess if a look was ‘off the runway or from a galaxy far far away’ based on a zoomed in photo”
Most undervalued, underutilized character in movie history. **Spoilers Ahead**** She should have been that persistent, minor villain throughout the entire trilogy, but they kill her off with too much fanfare for someone who got almost no screen time...it just YELLED GoT fan service. She could have been the imperial version of Leia. She got type-cast as hell...she should have been so much more developed and she had SO MUCH potential as a unique character. Disney done fucked it up.
Wish actual fans of the movies would do these interviews instead of these fake smiling bafoons who ask the stupidest questions. Gwendoline is giving such great enthusiasm and all these guys can do us go "wow" or "yay" and you can tell they have no idea what she's talking about
I Love her so much but they wasted the great woman's time cause in both Star Wars films she is in she is only in it for 6 minutes. Bullshit ya'll. She better be in the third so help me.
"courtesy of our friends at IMAX, everyone in our audience, you're going to get tickets to see it" The RUclips audience, also counts as a part of the audience. Do we get tickets too? :D I don't see any disclaimers around! - I see 273k subs, potentially 273k free tickets based on the audience.
She might be a good actress, but the fact that there is a woman in that cool silver storm trooper costume just doesn't make the character threatening enough to me......I don't care what she did with her hair.
MartyMonster really? I found the character plenty threatening. She may not have brute strength, but the character has this sly snake-like attitude that keeps you really cautious of her
God her feministic agenda can clearly be seen behind that articulate vocab of hers. Can we just talk about star wars without discussing some social issue? It's just a scifi film. Please don't make it anymore than it needs to be.
Jaqen H'ghar all sci-fi, in fact, all forms of art have a message and an agenda. Was the foundation series by Isaac Asimov just some meaningless speculative writing about what the future might be? Was star trek about a bunch of people in pajamas hoping around the alpha quadrant just trying to get laid, or, on the same note, was the time machine about the same thing but moving through time instead of space? Every piece of fiction has something to say and relates itself to society at large. Art, good art, is either a mirror or a lamp, reflecting society, who is the audience, back on to itself or illuminating something about it. You may not completely understand why you like certain works like star wars or whatever you enjoy, but, it largely has to do with how you relate to it and it's message. And please, pick up some good science fiction or even read an article on the importance of sci-fi.
Yeah, I'm probably wrong to discredit the sci-fi genre as a whole by saying it is all one-dimensional schlock but honestly, I wouldn't call star wars (especially the new trilogy) a masterpiece in writing and story. I enjoy star wars because simply, I enjoy the lightsabers, space battles and explosions. While commenting on societies flaws is necessary to create change, and this can be achieved through cinema, I'm just sick of corporations shoving this woman empowering shit down my throat. Look I'm fine with women being powerful characters in films, which I believe was done incredibly well in the OT (with Carie Fischer), but if this causes the characters to be mary sues then I think we have a problem.
Except all the diversity you can have can't help a badly written script. That's why so many of these mainstream movies are flops. Hollywood's more concerned about politics than good story structure.
Fucking idiotic comment. 'The Force Awakens' did 2 billion. A host of major studio pictures with diverse leads making bank in the past three years especially. Gwendoline is right on the money.
'Not good from a critical standpoint'? Who's? Yours? It wasn't perfect by any means - fine - but it was decent overall. It had some excellent set-pieces, great character moments. There was a lot to accomplish - to achieve. Close but no cigar. 'A New Hope' 2.0? Yeah. Whatever. But in the wider context of 'diversity' and its translation/acceptance/validation to/with a global audience, it was a phenomenal success. They took a huge risk and in that regard, it worked fucking beautifully. And that's huge credit to the actors - especially Boyega.
Olivier Wakefield I really get annoyed by this. People that say it copies a new hope must not know what fucking story structure and a heroes journey is. It's one of the most basic stories. How it's told is what actually matters.
She speaks so beautifully and explains everything so well she might just convince me that the world is flat if she wanted to lol what an amazing woman
I love how eloquently she explains "I was so glad when I found out Phasma wasn't going to have boob armor."
SHE NEEDS MORE LEAD ROLES! And for god sakes gives this woman her Emmy
Dang Gwendolyn. Every answer is so eloquent and deep lol
You can tell she truly is a fan!
gwendoline is so eloquent ahhh i love her!
She’s absolutely beautiful!!!! Her eyes and that smile! I love her personality too!!!
I love her so much. She is so graceful and deep with every single question she answers. Such a talent!
Intelligent, classy, eloquent, humorous, vivacious personality. Love her!
I forgot how tall she was. Whoaaaaa
Gwendoline is so frickin Charming!!!
Her interview here was longer than her placement in both movies.
i swear she can run for world president and i'd vote for her. articulate, fun, and gorgeous. she's a breath of fresh air.
Beautiful, exhilarating interview.
Right? Like holy crap, you described it so well! She commands presence when she walked into the room and the interview was...whoa. She is like a Morgan Freeman, I can listen to her speak all day I reckon
I love her personality, she is so sweet!
What a staggeringly elegant woman! Like a walking, talking Art Deco sculpture!😘
Damn she's so cool
she's so eloquent ! I love to hear her talk!
She's so awesome!
She is the most beautiful person.
wow I love her
the most adorable over 6foot tall woman ever!
Can't wait till December 15th!!!
She's so cute I love her 😂
She's so interesting. Seems nice.
I can not wait for the film ...and more screen time of Phasma
George Stephanopolous looks like a hobbit next to Gwendoline.
Gwendolyn has a great personality and it's very well-spoken I can sit and listen to her all day very lively speaker and passionate about what she believes and what she speaks about.
I like her personality. She a very open minded person
Will she have more than 90 seconds of screen time in this one?
Whoa is that really 90 seconds only?
Yes.
She's being wheeled out willy-nilly in the promotion.
I think she's a major character this time.
The fight with Finn is at least 5 minutes I'd think.
Conner Wiltshire *97 seconds
No
so lovely
Had to train for months for a 30-second duel.
So much potential, all drained down the toilet by Rian Johnson.
So true
that was well played at the end loool
She's quite smart!
From the book, she is like the Mad Max of star wars.
Indeed... I love how the PHASMA novel explained how (and why) she's not really loyal to the First Order... she's only loyal to herself, a survivor. It adds depth to a mysterious (but nuanced) character.
3:14 The British effect!
I think I’ve seen too many of these interviews/promo videos. As soon as she came on the screen I said, “This was the same days as her Bazaar video where she had to guess if a look was ‘off the runway or from a galaxy far far away’ based on a zoomed in photo”
What a lady!!!
💜
Most undervalued, underutilized character in movie history.
**Spoilers Ahead****

Aw "mom I want to be in a Star Wars movie" "They don't make them anymore..." That'd be such a downer as a kid.
She's so tall.
I'm a star wars and GOT fan i clash a lot ( damn forgot one of the books is called a clash of kings )
So tall
for the one scene
What a women 👌🏼
If she can handle The Hound, then John Boyega would be a walk in the park.
how eloquent is that
Sta was the was jadi!!!
Game of Throneth
Brienne Of Fucking Tarth!
Wish actual fans of the movies would do these interviews instead of these fake smiling bafoons who ask the stupidest questions. Gwendoline is giving such great enthusiasm and all these guys can do us go "wow" or "yay" and you can tell they have no idea what she's talking about
So true it's so obvious most the people in the room are fake fans
I Love her so much but they wasted the great woman's time cause in both Star Wars films she is in she is only in it for 6 minutes. Bullshit ya'll. She better be in the third so help me.
D I V E R S I T Y
someone says something philosophical and American media's like huh?
Look at the size difference at 0:26. That is one tall lady.
I have a feeling Captain Phasma is gonna remove her mask in The Last Jedi.
Nope
I think Phasma is Mandalorian.
shes not, they explore her past in her novel
I could see why, she looks like she’s from mandalore
I think you should read the novel
And boba fett maybe
6:03 she froze.
Are you fucking crazy who the hell is giving away almost 300k for an interview 💀
Wow she's long
Pause.
"We need to have our world reflected in our entertainment."
Someone needs to explain the fantasy genre to Gwendoline.
she meant characters, like we cant just have white fit men on screen
She's in a fantasy series so she probably means character
Now we need Maisie Williams in Star Wars.
Josh DeRose she is already in X Men but is this still possible?
abc / allways brodcasting crab
Captain thasma😂😂😂😂
She should have been cast as chewies sidebush since hans dead.
Stephanopolis looks like a puppet.
Boba Fett is better
Obviously
@Boba Fett LOL dude
Why are you comparing them? they're both different characters with he opposite gender lmfao
Gwendoline Christie deserved more and better screen time in TLJ. Disney DID NOT do justice to her character Captain Phasma..so dissapointing.
Why do so many of today's actors and actresses talk like teenagers?
I wonder if she could find a husband as long as her.
Lyanna zul Well if she cares about that I'm sure it's not gonna be that hard. She is 6'3... plenty of men are 6'3 and above.
Gwendoline remains.... loud.
Gwendoline for President! 😂
Love the actress but I dnt want her to win
She might be a good actress, but the fact that there is a woman in that cool silver storm trooper costume just doesn't make the character threatening enough to me......I don't care what she did with her hair.
How is that sexist and narrow minded? I agree, she doesn't seem threatening. She's just tall in silver armor. Under a mask she just looks like a dude.
MartyMonster well you're quite stupid then
But not brainwashed.
MartyMonster really? I found the character plenty threatening. She may not have brute strength, but the character has this sly snake-like attitude that keeps you really cautious of her
I just find femal villains in masculine roles not threatening at all. But as evil witches are something, yes. Like you say, sly and snake-like.
I love you so much but shush about diversity it's already being shoved down our throats. Now back to the interview!
God her feministic agenda can clearly be seen behind that articulate vocab of hers. Can we just talk about star wars without discussing some social issue? It's just a scifi film. Please don't make it anymore than it needs to be.

Ikr? Such ridiculous feminist propaganda
Except all the diversity you can have can't help a badly written script. That's why so many of these mainstream movies are flops. Hollywood's more concerned about politics than good story structure.
He isn't
Fucking idiotic comment. 'The Force Awakens' did 2 billion. A host of major studio pictures with diverse leads making bank in the past three years especially. Gwendoline is right on the money.
Biko Django but TFA was so unoriginal, sure it was successful. But from a critical viewpoint it is not as good movie.
'Not good from a critical standpoint'? Who's? Yours? It wasn't perfect by any means - fine - but it was decent overall. It had some excellent set-pieces, great character moments. how we relate to Captain Phasma? Cringe so far. Nothing personal toward Gwendoline though. She's aok herself.
I'm a big fan of qwendilan Christy but omg get of the feminism soap box. Just FYI it's ok to be a man in today's world!!!!
