It’s weird that the battles against Dark Valefor, Dark Anima and the Dark Magus Sisters have the regular battle music and the others don’t. The battle against Dark Shiva is just the boss battle theme while the theme for Dark Bahamuts is Challenge which also plays when you fight Yunalesca. Run is the theme used for the battle against Dark Ifrit and Dark Yojimbo. The track Leap Into The Dark is what plays during the Dark Ixion fights
Yeah they just rushed they boss fights in for the European releases without making it feel any more than a glorified extra endgame. Did appreciate the extra cutscenes though

Zanmato Differences:
Dark Yojimbo Zanmato: Damage 99999 (guranteed) + Remove Auto-Life (summon Aeon can reduce 52k damage with shield command.)
Yojimbo Zanmato (Lady Ginnem): Damage 9999 (guranteed) to all party (Aeon Shield command can reduce approximately 49,6% damage)
Yojimbo Zanmato (Yuna): Instant death to all enemies, ignoring Deathproof protection.

Btw..I never saw ginnems yojimbo cast zanmato. For many years I played FFX, every time it overdrive it just cast wakizashi

My first experience with Final Fantasy 10, I was visiting a friend who had his nephew over playing FFX on his PS2. He was stuck on the Sin Boss fight, the one on the ship that gets you inside of Sin to the end of the game. No matter what he did, he just couldn't win. I was watching, and asked if I could have a go. I had some knowledge of the game, but never played it before, but I knew of Yojimbo from the guide book my friend had. I wanted to see what the summons looked like having only play a little of FF7 and FF8 prior, I didn't have the patience back then to play those games.
They gave me one go to try and beat Sin. I brought Yuna in, summoned Yojimbo, and gave him all of his gill... And Yojimbo Zanmato Sin! haha. Funny thing is, the gill won was about the same amount as what I paid Yojimbo to attack.
After that, my friend let me start my first and only playthrough on his console. I brought my memory card over and borrowed his copy of the game, but I would play at his for the story parts. We 100% the game, beating all Dark Aeons, all monster arena battles , I even used Yojimbo a few times to one hit kill a few bosses for fun after beating them without Yojimbo. I also played FF7 with him, 99% that game on my first and only playthrough too. Good times.
There's nothing to be proud of, using Zanmato to defeat a strong boss is lazy and lame af.

I never said anything about being proud I killed a strong boss with Zanmato, I said it was funny because it was literally the first time I ever played the game, and by the draw of fate, my one and only move in that battle was a Zanmato from Yojimbo.
When I played the game proper on my first playthough, I only ever used Yojimbo for fun, since by that point, I could beat every boss without using Aons.

Your comment is pretty clear: you said that the kid was stuck so you used your knowledge of FFX to help him and spent all his money on Yojimbo to use Zanmato to defeat Sin, "haha". If that's not being proud, idk what that is... Anyway.
@@shizukagozen777 haha. maybe your right, or maybe it was funny that I, a kid compared to the nephew beat sin on his first try. Regardless on how cheesy Zanmato is, I only knew Yojimbo was cool looking, I'm not sure if I even knew about the Zanmato. I was a kid at the time, and not all that great with my attention span. in any case, I am proud I got one up on my big brother's best friend. (i.e. the nephew.)

Zanmato is the real challenge. Training Yojimbo, using him and his move and pleasing him to use it automatically. THAT's the real challenge and the real "Max stat" that matters not that grid max stats.
How many time a have to fight with him to get Zanmato in a Dark Aeon ?
@@ViniciusLCH Train Yojimbo till he does an automatic zanmato. Once he does an auto you can give him lesser gil to see when he does it again, eventually if trained well and trust is high you can just summon and he'll do the move against any dark aeon but you gotta be patient. Mine is perfect auto
Fun Fact: ALL of Yojimbo’s Special attacks have meanings of what they mean or what they are, not what they do

- Turbo gives a higher chance
- Grind compatibility with him. You get that when he uses his katana and zanmato
- Pay him a good amount of money (130k is a good one, since it works on thresholds, not based on the exact amount given)
- You do not want an automatic move with Yojimbo against aeons, since it's impossible to get zanmato out of it

Yojimbo will Zanmato a lot if you choose option 3 when you meet him. NEVER summon him without using him, that will make him lose affinity for Yuna and also try not to let him get killed in battle too much.

@@fenrir517 actually it is legit. If Yoji likes you enough. Which if you know how to track his affection meter is really easy to do, he'll Zanmato for anything above 99 Gil. It's also possible to make him Auto Zanmato as long as he likes you enough.

So checking the overall cost of taking out each aeon, yojimbo is the cheapest while anima is the most expensive one. Or does the value change?
Pay him enough before hand and and value won matter.
Yojimbo is technically one of if not the most powerful beings in the game. His best move can insta kill everything in the game, no matter what it is. Only with the exception of fights with different stages, it’ll just make the fight go into the next stage unless it’s already on the last stage, then it will insta kill. (Example: Lady Yunalesca)
When you have to reboot the ps2 many times for zanmato to come out.
Or in my case, to avoid it because that damn Yojimbo would do it even if I didn't ask him to. 😒
i read somewhere, prob on a youtube comment, that Yojimbo telegraphs what he's going to do after you pay him. can't remember what he does for the main three moves but he always nods when doing Zanmato, and ever since then my enjoyment of anticipating what he'll do has been ruined.

Honestly, I hate those dark aeons being that powerful. I mean getting hit for 99,999. Just a Total BS and stupid Idea for a boss fight. Maxing every single stat does not make the game fun, plus the rewards suck for the level of difficulty.

I would say it's very specific to most FF games where you have to fight a super-tough badass boss (usually optional) but Squaresoft would also leave a tiny backdoor to let you get an exploit and wipe them with a single hit. I remember very similar strategies against ruby and emerald in FF7 as well as omega in FF8.
There's no such a thing in several other FF games, or I completely missed those techniques, idk.

For anyone who haven't played this game and just saw instant wins here, Dark Ixion and Dark Yojimbo have multiple instances to fight them which doesn't allow Yojimbo's chances to do his Zanmato on all of them. Dark Ixion has 2 instances and Dark Yojimbo has either 4 or 5 instances !!!!
I remember when I was a child and didn't max all the stats out that I relied on Zanmato to kill each dark aeon. The fight with dark yojimbo was really frustrating and I even managed to get 4 Zanmatos in a row! However, 5 fights are actually required to completely beat this aeon (you must enter one of the rooms in the cave specifically to get the fifth battle)
You can do zanmato on all instances, it's just highly unlikely. It is doable though.

I used to consider it cheating but, I'm not maxed out on HP so I get fucked up really quickly.
Yeah but, whats really cheating and unfair is getting hit for 99,999. Plus without insane grinding and the proper setup along with Damage Limit Break those Dark Aeons are damn near impossible. And I really don't want to be that powerful and maxed out to the point that the game is no longer fun just to be able to fight them. So I say... to hell with playing fair! Thank You Yojimbo for being so OP! I will gladly make you a Millionaire!

I just got it on my 3rd or 4th try paying him 8,200 at DV. This is like my 3rd playthrough. Never played the remaster and can’t believe I forgot you needed all the destruction sphere chests for anima. Yojimbo coming in clutch so far. I was thinking about just starting over. I’m at 30 hours and from other things I saw about dark aeons it would probably take much longer than that to lvl up to beat them. But just beat DV and I don’t even have ultima or double cast yet. Lol. Killed shiva too. About 3 -4 tries again. Payed him $8,200.
Just needed to Zanmato Dark Valefor fortunately it worked on the 2nd try. I didn't forget the sphere just accidentally entered a cutscene to early and thus missed to do it I'm grateful Yojimbo exists 😅

I mean there’s all kinds of crazy monsters to lvl up and beat in the arena So it’s not too bad. Still have some dark aeons to find and beat too. I didn’t even know that was a thing. Notes:
You have to kill the Dark Ixion twice to fully defeat it.
You have to defeat Dark Yojimbo five consecutive times to fully defeat it. Otherwise he will respawn again in this area
That's essentially how I killed all these megabosses. I'm not a fan of grinding.

Telling you when this first came out on PS2 and you saw this summons entrance my god it looked amazing heck even Bahamuts entrance the clouds and the motion blur. The PS2s emotion engine really did make games look good as it would add moving trees and leaves it was that good of a chip

Make sure yojimbo’s evasion is 255 and summon him in front of the ironclad from the monster arena I think, then have him dodge the ironclads attacks until yojimbos overdrive gauge is full then when it’s his turn and he HOPEFULLY doesn’t take his turn and use his overdrive, you dismiss him( which I wouldn’t do In my opinion because it takes away compatibility points).

is it true that Zanmoto does not work on the Dark Aeons when you play Final Fantasy X remastered on the ps4? I tried like a 100 times but i don't get lucky, while i shoot Zanmoto's like crazy on all the other creatures in the game.
Not true at all, You just have to maintain high compatibility with him and make sure that he does not die! I can confirm on the HD remaster I was able to kill Dark Ifrit, Ixion, Shiva, Bahamut AND Anima using Znmato so still works :)
@Adrianto Shinomori My general rule of thumb is to pay him AT LEAST 1000 gil everytime which give s a solid compatibility boost. That should be combined (of course) with him having a full Overdrive gauge so 'Entrust' to Yuna like crazy whenever you get the chance as it also adds some extra points. In terms of loyalty it essentialy goes hand in hand so as long as you follow the above steps (and make sure he never dies cannot stress this enough as it kills your compatibility) then you will be OK.
A good indicator is when he will start doing free moves for you particularly is he does free Zanmatos on weaker enemies. If your doing VERY well he will even start doing those on more higher tier enemies but you need to do it as often as you can.
I assume you know about ememy levels including bosses, dark aeons etc. so won't speak down to you about that :)

@@yojimbomain78 Haven't got to him yet but it should be same principal. Keep in mind that Yojimbo's compatibility does not reset from fight to fight so in fighting him multiple times you can effectively use Zanmato multiple times in a row if his affection rate is high enough. To be safe you would have to pay him insane amounts of money each time though so unless your a Gil hoard + VERY high compatibility each time would not recommend it.
Besides IMO its far more satisfying killing him traditionally as you can get overkills each time you defeat him and farm Dark Matter/Ribbon enabled (4 slot) weapons far easier which makes it easier against other Dark Aeons and Penance

My question is if anyone did a final fantasy DnD theme campaign, how would one implement Yojimbo? Or I should honestly ask, how does one implement an over powered guaranteed kill attack in DnD as a system? Homebrew? Just curious if anyone sees this comment and wants to answer.
I mean, as a character concept, the main things i know for a lot of damage in one turn are paladin smites or sneak attack on a rogue. Maybe assassin rogue to do more on the first hit before the enemy notices you? And I guess it depends on if you want it as an enemy, a character concept, or a summon mechanic which would likely be homebrew

Might be a bit late but theres a formula you could use that wouldn't be that difficult if you had a random number generator and a calculator.
