  • Lyre of Orpheus, by Israeli composer Shulamit Ran, is scored for a sextet with one cello as soloist/protagonist and a second cello tuned down a third for deeper tones. It was composed for the NY based sextet, Concertante, featuring cellist Zwi Plesser as the soloist. Here, Noam Ginsparg is the soloist, with Cal Alexander and Keila Wakao (violins), Jisang Kymm and Sophia Nam (violas) and Noah Chung-Igelman (cello). The piece is abbreviated for performance: usual run-time is about 14 minutes. Performed on August 6 at Perlman Music Program, Shelter Island, New York.
