- This is my playthrough of the Stage 1 Cargo Dock from Metal Gear Solid The Board Game.
This stage acts as a tutorial for the player (just like the PS1 classic) so you follow the rule book along towards the objective.
If you are on the fence about purchasing MGS Board Game or never heard of it before, I hope I can help with your decision and entertainment.
I find the board game version fun so far and I hope you enjoy the video!

Thank you for the feedback on the last video! It goes a long way to helping my channel grow :-)
12:01 Correct me if I'm wrong. Page 6 of the campaign book says if you are in enemy LOS at the start of a move (not a turn), then the alert token follows Snake to where he ends on that move. So the Alert token should have followed you either one tile over to the left if it was a sneak, or 2 tiles (under snake) if that was a dash. You did make it follow you, but looks like the rules intend it to follow you where you stop even if you broke los
Loving how you're integrating in game footage with the board game!
Thank you Andy!
My pre-order of the Integral Edition finally came today! Awesome so far. Your video really helped me understand some of the mechanics. Thanks for putting this together!
I did my best to help make sense of it all and very happy to hear you enjoyed the Stage 1 playthrough 😁
The next board Stage 2 Heliport is currently in the works so look out when it drops.
Awesome to hear you got your Integral pre-order and hope you enjoy the board game! 🫡
@StormBreakerPirate Also, I really liked the audio and visual effects you put on screen. Very entertaining and immersive for all us old Metal Gear Solid fans. The clips from the game were nice too. Yeah, great job all around man. I look forward to Stage 2.
Normally I dont watch lets play of board game. But aß a Metal gear Fan. This with the ingame music and scenes is an absolute blast! Fantastico.
Im glad you took and chance on my video and enjoyed it Doktor 😁👍
top notch editing on this one stormy! metal gear solid as a board game works surprisingly very well, doesn't seem to be devoid of any shenanigans either 😅
Thank you so much for the editing comments Chequito and glad to see it hasn’t gone unnoticed 😁 There is absolutely a fair share of shenanigans in this board game!
Thanks, I'm new to this style of game, and was super confused by the instructions. This cleared a lot of things up even if it *may* not have been 100% correct rule-wise, close enough to start!
No worries I’m glad I could help you! Yes that rulebook is really something 😅
Great vid! Can’t wait to see more loving all the little touches you’re adding. Just for future reference… Everybody gets the ‘Finding a New Path’ rule wrong in this game. When you end a guards movement on a double arrow space, and there is a space available to the left or right, then you turn the guard to face that direction regardless of what is on the card. You refer to the card direction only when there is a choice of a left and right path. So at 15:11 for example, the guard ended his move on a double arrow and there was a path available to the left so he would have turned left. The same process applies for when a guard reaches a corner, but people intuitively tend to get this part right (e.g. the same guard I just mentioned followed the ‘Find a New Path’ process correctly at 15:00 to get around the corner, instead of following the arrow on the card to do a 180 degree turn). Hope this helps!
Thank you so much!
@@StormBreakerPirateno, thank you for the video! I always flirt with the idea of making vids but can never be arsed haha. And you’re welcome… See P.17 of the rule book for a good example of when a guard chooses a direction that is different to what the card shows. The game has loads of subtleties and intricacies… it could really do with an FAQ tbh.
This was so cool. A very cool system for the guard patrols. I'm looking forward to more of this for sure.
Glad you enjoyed it Ligaar. More videos coming soon!
That’s a great video, thank you! Will wait for more levels if you wish to continue
I’m happy you liked it meetem! I am looking into recording more in the next few weeks so stay tuned! 😁
@@StormBreakerPirate will keep my eye out for those, really enjoyed watching the play through, to the point, in watching it again
This was great! I loved seeing the failures and wins, to really feel out the game. I hope you end up doing all the missions AND with different characters too! Part of the fun of this boarf game is playing other people after all.
This is a dope video, Stormy. I miss your Livestreams
Thank you Oni! Livestreams have been reduced but will be back to at least one weekly soon.
@StormBreakerPirate I can't wait!
I regret not getting the Integral edition of this.
well, I know what I'm asking for my birthday
Yes!! Thank you for watching john
One rule that was mentioned a handful years ago in previews is that the alert token ends up in the first space AROUND the corner because that is logically the place the guard would expect you to be. I.E. he watched you leave the LOS to obviously one space beyond. I don't know if it still applies in this finished version, though. Applogies if this was already figured out.
It does. The token moves with you until you complete your movement and are out of LoS. So it would go around the corner with you, but you can then spend an additional movement (if you have it) to leave the alert behind.
Playing the first two levels now till I get my friends involved. Loving it. Does the guard point the gun different from the ones with there guns down?
The rulebook doesnt mention anything about the differences in guards as far as I’ve read. I used the aimed gun guards for entertainment value personally 😁
Just got the email saying mines shipped, can't wait to finally play. Been waiting like 3 or 4 years lol
Hope it arrives ASAP! Thank you for watching!
I love the video, but you misplaced the alert, it would go to the corner of where they lost sight of snake. It is easy to miss.
Dont the guards shoot him wen they have LOS at snakes start turn? Or?
I really want this
Thank you sir! Now I gotta convince my wife to let me get this
😅 no worries and hopefully you can grab it!
@ I showed her, she was more excited than I was! She knows how much I love MGS
Looks cool!
Thank you Holly!
How do you handle a KO'd guard being found by another guard? Does the active guard land on top of or adjacent to the KO'd guard? And when he wakes him where do you place them? Also, is the active guards turn over at that point or does he finish his patrol or go into alert? Thanks to anyone who replies?
The rules make it sound like if the active guard Los has the attention token then they will move to it but the others who do not have it in los wont move towards it?
wow so cool and hard too
If you had rolled a noise on the Interact, it... wouldnt have mattered (in this case), right? Because it would have triggered a Suspicion marker, not an Alert state, and the scenario immediately ends because you've ridden the elevator.
Why does the Interact action have a white and two black dice?
There are a lot of rules that are hard to clarify and there are always “what if I do this and then X happens at once?” scenarios the rule book doesn’t really cover too well sadly.
The reason for the one white and two black dice is to make it less likely you will roll the “!” side. I am still learning the rules on that one 😅
can you post measurements of the tiles? Thanks
Okay so guards can wander past you as long as they aren't directly facing you? Damn. I was playing this on hard mode
The rulebook’s explanation on “Line of Sight” took me a couple reads to learn 😅
Hopefully this helps with your playthrough in the long run and good luck! 😁👍
@StormBreakerPirate The confusing bit is one of the photos used for reference shows snake standing to the side of a guard and it saying there is LOS
