    It is so great to have so many emails from around the world from who have enjoyed these videos by Oliver Schomburg; furthermore, those who participated are deserved of great respect.
    Karate-Do is an art which is beyond style or organisation, it is based on training and bonding with others regardless of nationality, race, beliefs and so on. I respect all styles of karate greatly, who follow karate as pure martial art.
    Some loud mouth a lot on the internet, but karatedo talks for itself.

    Great vid, great teacher, my question is this...... what are the strikes that seem to loop around the neck in a chop motion ? Are these meant to be nerve shots to the neck or back of head ? thanks

    Just to add to that, Kato Sensei also teaches martial art karate, but I suggested him because I think he travels to South East Asia. Perhaps contact IJKA Ireland (Toomey Sensei).

    Thank you but I am not qualified to coach WKF sports karate. I only teach traditional karate as a martial art. And insofar as tournaments are concerned, shobu-ippon.
    I would love to teach karate in the Philippenes, but my karate schedule makes it impossible. Neverthess, thank you so much for your kind invitation.
    Perhaps you could consider inviting Sadashige Kato Sensei of UK.
    Best regards, Andre

    @ChristopherMonti As far as "flailing" his arms, if ones hands are trained weapons, then that is very good technique. If you tied a piece of steel on a rope then swung at someone would that not be destructive? There are Chinese arts and weapon styles completely devoted to this "flailing" as you so incorrectly called it.

    @ChristopherMonti Just wondering what you personally have against Andre? Everyone of his videos you keep trolling and putting bad comments on his page. I can see where one could not like Andre because in some of his blog Post he comes off pretty abrasive, but why follow his videos around and keep slamming him, if you don't like him or his karate why waste your time on him, couldn't it be spent better doing something productive? I personally find his karate inspiring.

    Of course I can also see that Bertel has good physical qualities. However, I cannot follow the enthusiasm of many people who think that they confuse this with actual effectiveness in a real fight. Would Bertel know how to do these things against a well trained fighter in Thaibox or MMA? Or can he only do them with pupils who (between fear and respect) do not really attack?

    • @andrebertel
      @andrebertel 3 года назад

      I was bouncer for many years and later became a professional bodyguard. During that time I had a 'few' fights. But I appreciate your comment as it comes from logical thinking.
      So, my 39 years of karate not only came from the dojo. The presentation, to teach others varies (based on their background and current level). The main thing is that people improve and learn how to improve themselves. This must be done safely, but also extend their limits.
      With this approach many karateka here in Japan and around the world have improved greatly. My pressure, as an instructor, is to continue achieving these results. THIS IS WHAT 'BEING A TEACHER IS ALL ABOUT' and why I am constantly invited across Japan and around the world. WHY???????????????? BECAUSE I ALWAYS GET BIG RESULTS! OSU

      @@andrebertel Respectable Sensei Bertell, my comment was not intended to be negative or (let alone) directed against you personally. I am also 6 Dan, direct student of Master Shirai, and I took the 1 Dan exam already in 1976. It is also very nice if you have a search for real effectiveness of the technique. Unfortunately, a lot of modern Karate has been reduced to a sport, to a game that no longer has anything to do with Budo. The first antidote against this profound degeneration is in my opinion to apply a lot and more and more realistic during training. For me part of this work was fighting against Kickboxer, Boxer, Wing Tzun, usw. and also participate since 2007 in many MMA stages up to become an Instructor. Best wishes on her way. OSS

      As a long time practitioner (30 years) of mainly Karate (various styles, basis Shotokan) but also a quite wide array of other martial arts and being myself a teacher (for about 10 years) I have deep respect for sensei Bertels work and capabilities. Still I find myself frequently in a conflict of keeping traditional budo Karate technics and training methods (of which many are great to develop essential skills) and replacing or pairing them with other methods which traditional Japanese and Okinawan Budo Karate typically misses that seem practically absolutely essential to me. One example is the Hikite. It is a great method for many aspects, but from my pov rounded and practically oriented martial artists need to train as well a good cover with their second hand when striking. Another example is for the way of attacking when doing bunkai or ippon kumite. With advanced students we need from my pov to progress from single attacks and leaving the attacking technics "standing in the air" to various and quickly pulled back technics - as they would occur on the street. But this is only my 2cents worth.... 🙏
