    This comment is for Mr. @markm at the bottom of these comments with a bunch of us traditional karate guys trying to fight back. Number one, no matter what we say, he will just keep saying prove it. We don't have to! Number two, real traditional karate; as it was on Okinawa in 16,17,and 1800s , was strictly used for self defense in life or death situations! The JKA never even had competitions until Funikoshi sensei passed away. In fact Funikoshi sensei rarely even let his top students practice jiyu kumite at all. Because REAL KARATE was never intended to be a sport or competition. People like Mr.@markm who study martial arts specifically designed for competitions (kick boxing, MMA ect.) think that because they could and probably would defeat most of us in a controlled enviroment, with severe technique limitations, with referees, with gloves, and the fact they train for fights to last minutes, not seconds, as in real life scenarios. Ask him what he's going to do when someone comes at him with a weapon. He would probably try to fight them because of his ego and get wounded or killed. The first thing I would do is run! But if I couldn't, I at least have learned techniques to defend and disarm people with weapons. I don't think they teach those in competition martial arts. Number three, the only way I would ever engage in a real fight is if my life or someone I cared about was in serious danger. Because I know I could maim or kill someone. When Funikoshi sensei brought Okinawan karate to mainland Japan, he left alot of it back in Okinawa. This was a pact all the okinawan masters made with each other. They would never teach ALL the secrets and killing techniques to outsiders!! I really appreciate Bertal Sensei and his sensei Asai, to try and bring back more of the real self defense aspects of Shotokan which unfortunately are taught less and less now.I never even knew what bunkai was until I was a nidan! It seems from Mr.@markm's comments that he must engage in a lot of frivalous dust ups, in fact he even says so. And finally number four; Mr@markm completely misses the main tenets in studying real traditional karate. These are what I've been taught. Self improvement, inner peace, respect for all life, no first attack, and above all HUMILITY! And with ALL DUE RESPECT, I believe Mr.@markm misses his target (makiwara) on all four of these!!!!!

      @@enriquevillegas858 Thankyou, It's like Mr. Miyagi said, " Back home you fight for points, Okinawa, you fight for life! And I really strive to have respect for eveyone, however @markm is a douchbag who would probably get his ass kicked on the street in no holds barred unless he sucker punched the person first. Which is I imagine is his modus operandi!

    Hurting your students means that you have not enough control over your techniques! But your technique is awesome.

      No man was hurted and also had the kindness that not practice with ladies

    • @andrebertel
      @andrebertel  2 года назад +7

      No one was hurt, otherwise, no one would come.
      I kime on the dogi. But sometimes some people ask me to make more contact..
      However, in all cases I control my techniques.
      The real problem is that karate has become so misunderstood about control.

    • @maxdraper6462

      Lots of karate masters used to use techniques on their students with force to show how strong karate can be, but then we had sports karate where everyone complained when they got hit to hard and The method of teaching got lost in a way.. in my opinion this is how karate should be taught.

    • @Foltore

      Of course, karate is no dance, so sometimes somethings may come a little harder. But strong? Man, he is speedy and has präzission, this makes look it hard. But if he would realy hit strong and INTO target, the people would go down and dont come up again, one after another. Thats not the case, right?
